FIG. 1 is a front perspective view of a head covering holding apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a front perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a top view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a top perspective view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new hat and wig holding device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the head covering holding apparatus 10 generally comprises a post 12 that has a top end 14 and a bottom end 16. The post 12 is telescopic and has an adjustable height and is conventional in this manner. The post 12 may therefore include a button 18 for releasing sections of the post 12 relative to each other. Other types of telescopic structures may, however, be used. A base 20 is attached to the bottom end 16 and retains the post 12 in a vertical orientation. The base 20 may comprise a plurality of outwardly extending legs 22 and the base 20 may be removable from the post for reasons explained below and thereby by kept vertically upright by other means.

A mount 24 is positioned on the post 12 between the top 14 and bottom 16 ends. As can be seen in the Figures, the mount 24 may include a plurality of mounts 24, such as up to four mounts so that the apparatus 10 is modular in nature. The mount 24 includes a plurality of saddles 26 that are equally spaced from each other and includes at least two saddles 26. The Figures depict four saddles 26 though up to six saddles 26 may be utilized. The saddles 26 are thus extending away from the post 12 in all directions relative to the post 12. The mount 24 is movably coupled vertically to the post such the mount 24 is configured to be selectively positioned between the top 14 and bottom 16 ends. A conventional threaded fastener 28 may be utilized to retain the mount 24 at a selected position. When the fastener 28 is loosened, it may be possible to have an embodiment allowing rotation of the mount 24.

A plurality of head covering supports 30 is provided. Each of the head covering supports 30 is removably engaged to the mount 24. Each of the head covering supports 30 includes an arm 32 that has a first end 34 and a second end 36. The arm 32 may have a plurality of bends 38 therein to space the second end 36 laterally away and vertically above the first end 34. A bracket 40 is attached to the first end 34 and is removably extendable into one of the saddles 26. The bracket 40 includes a downwardly extending plate 42 that extendable into a slot 44 formed in an upper edge of each saddle 26. The arm 32, bracket 40 and plate 42 may comprise a unitary structure as shown in the Figures. A holder 46 is attached to the second end 36 and is configured to releasably receive a head covering 48. The head covering 48 may comprise a wig, hat or the like for which the owner would like to retain its shape. The holder 46 has an upper half 50 having a semi-spherical shape. The holder 46 is positioned vertically above the first end 34 of the arm 32 and has an apex positioned above the second end 36 of the arm 32. The holder 46 may be removably attached to the second end 36 of the arm 32 such that holder 46 includes a first mating member 70 releasably engageable with a second mating member 72. The holder 46 may comprise a sphere and more particularly may comprise a sphere having a plurality of openings extending therethrough. For this reason, the sphere may be comprised of arcuate rods as shown in the Figures.

A finial 52, which may function as a grip, is attached to the top end 14 of the post 12. FIG. 1 depicts a finial 52, or grip, forming a closed loop 53 which allows the apparatus to be lifted as needed for moving such. Alternatively, the finial 52 may comprise a hook configured to engage a rod 54 or an upper edge 56 of a door 58. FIG. 5 shows a squared hook 60 configured better to engage a door 58 while FIG. 4 teaches an arcuate hook 62 suited to a rod 54. The finial 52, generally, may be removably attached to the pole 12 to allow it to be replaced with a closed loop or with a hook as needed.

In use, the user will utilize as many mounts 24 are needed to support the amount of hats and/or wigs need to be stored. The head covering supports 30 may be added or removed as necessary and may be selectively positioned such that they are only positioned on one side of a vertical plane of the post 12. Thus, as shown in FIG. 5, they can be positioned such that the post 12 will abut a door 58 but the head covering supports 30 will extend away from the door 58.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
