DESCRIPTION OF THE PREFERRED EMBODIMENT

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new lipstick storage device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the lipstick storage assembly 10 generally comprises a housing 12 that has a top wall 14, a bottom wall 16 and a peripheral wall 18 extending therebetween. The top wall 14 has an opening 20 extending downwardly therein toward the bottom wall 16. The opening 20 extends between the peripheral wall 18 and a center 22 of the top wall 14. The opening 20 has a circular shape such that the opening 20 extends around an entire circumference of the center 22. Additionally, the housing 12 has a cylindrical shape.

A base 24 is provided that has an upper wall 26, a lower wall 28 and an outer wall 30 extending therebetween. The upper wall 26 is rotatably coupled to the bottom wall 16 and the outer wall 30 is aligned with the peripheral wall 18.

The housing 12 has a plurality of discrete lipstick spaces 32 that are each defined by a divider 34 that has a top end 36, a bottom end 38 and a perimeter wall 40 extending therebetween. The divider 34 is positioned within the opening 20 so the bottom end 38 abuts a top surface 42 of the bottom wall 16 and the top end 36 is aligned with the top wall 14. The divider 34 has a plurality of undulating curves 44 to define a plurality of lobes 46 extending between the center 22 and the peripheral wall 18. The lobes 46 are distributed around the center 22 and define the plurality of discrete lipstick spaces 32. Each of the discrete lipstick spaces 32 may insertably receive a tube of lipstick 48. The tube of lipstick 48 may be of any conventional design.

The bottom wall 16 of the housing 12 has a plurality of slots 50 extending therethrough. Each of the slots 50 is aligned with one of the discrete lipstick spaces 32. An extender 52 is positioned within the base 24 to urge a selected one of the tubes of lipstick 48 upwardly in the discrete lipstick spaces 32. The extender 52 is in mechanical communication with the base 24. The base 24 is rotatable relative to the housing 12 such that the extender 52 engages the selected tube of lipstick 48.

The extender 52 includes a spring biasing member 54 positioned between the upper wall 26 and the lower wall 28. A plunger 56 is provided that has a top edge 58 and a bottom edge 60. The top edge 58 angles downwardly between a middle 62 of the top edge 58 toward the bottom edge 60, giving the plunger 56 a triangular shape. The bottom edge 60 engages the spring biasing member 54, allowing the spring biasing member 54 to urge the plunger 56 upwardly through the upper wall 26. The plunger 56 extends upwardly into one of the slots 50 when the base 24 is rotated to align the plunger 56 with one of the discrete lipstick spaces 32.

The plunger 56 urges the tube of lipstick 48 upwardly in the discrete lipstick spaces 32. The top edge 58 engages a bounding surface 64 of the slots 50 when the base 24 is rotated to move the plunger 56 away from the discrete lipstick space 32. Consequently, the plunger 56 is urged downwardly out of the discrete lipstick space 32.

A lid 66 is hingedly coupled to the top wall 14. The lid 66 is positionable in a closed position and an open position. The lid 66 engages the peripheral wall 18 when the lid 66 is positioned in the closed position to retain the lid 66 in the closed position. The lid 66 has a bottom side 70. A mirror 72 is coupled to the bottom side 70 to aid in the application of the tube of lipstick 48.

In use, the lid 66 is opened and the base 24 is rotated until the desired tube of lipstick 48 is urged upwardly from the associated one of the discrete lipstick spaces 32. The tube of lipstick 48 is utilized in the conventional of cosmetology. The housing 12 stores the tubes of lipstick 48 while the tubes of lipstick 48 are not being used.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
