SELF WICKING GARMENT
A garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system includes a head garment having an outer cover connected extending down from a back of said head garment of a sufficient length to be disposed on a neck of a wearer, wherein the outer cover includes a pouch which contains a water proof liner operably connected thereto, an inner wicking liner having an end which removably inserted into the water proof liner and another end connected to an inner side of the head garment.
1. Field of the Invention
The present invention relates to garments, and head gear and more particularly pertains to a new water cooled article.
2. Description of the Prior Art
The use of liquid cooled garments is known in the prior art. Farmers, workmen, sportsmen and other persons who are out in the sun during summer weather can become dangerously overheated if the head is not adequately protected. To this end, various kinds of garments, particularly headwear with fooling members or ice packs have been made.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONIt is therefore an object of the present invention to provide a new garment, particularly a cap, having a water wicking element connected thereto.
It is another object of the present invention to provide a new garment, particularly a cap, which may be easily and efficiently manufactured and marketed.
It is a further object of the present invention to provide a water cooled cap which is of a durable and reliable construction.
Still yet another object of the present invention is to provide a new water hat which provides in the apparatuses and methods of the prior art some of the advantages thereof, while simultaneously overcoming some of the disadvantages normally associated therewith.
Still another object of the present invention is to provide a new hat for cooling a head of a using a water wicking cap.
Further advantageous embodiments of the subject matter of the invention will become apparent from the description which follows.
Accordingly, the instant invention is directed to a garment, particularly, a cap which is cooled with by a water wicking system. One embodiment is directed to a cap having an outer cover connected to the cap and extending down from the back of the cap a sufficient length to be disposed on the neck of a wearer. The outer cover can be one or multi-component and includes a pouch or pocket which contains a water proof liner operably connected thereto.
An inner wicking liner is provided with an end which is removably inserted into the water proof liner and another end connected to an inner side of the cap. The inner liner can preferably be spot sewn or otherwise connected to parts of the cap in a manner which permits the water to readily wick up the wicking liner toward the cap.
Inside the pouch can be provided one or more sponge to absorb water and stay in contact with the wicking liner to deliver water thereto. In addition, the sponge can prevent water in the pouch from sloshing about and out therefrom. Also, provided are one or more clips for removably securing the outer cover to one's clothing and keep the pouch from moving about.
The general purpose of the present invention, which will be described subsequently in greater detail, is to provide a new wicking cap/garment which has many of the advantages mentioned heretofore which is not anticipated, rendered obvious, suggested, either alone or in any combination thereof in the prior devices.
An exemplary embodiment of the invention is described in more detail with reference to drawings. In the drawings:
Referring now to the drawings of the instant invention, one embodiment is referred to by the numeral 10. The present invention generally includes a cap 12 having a hemispherical configuration defined by a circular open bottom and a dome-shaped top. The cap 12 which is cooled with by a water wicking system. The cap 12 has an outer cover 14 connected to the cap 12 which extends down from a back of the cap 12 a sufficient length to be disposed on the neck of a wearer. The outer cover 14 includes a pouch or pocket 16 which contains a water proof liner 18, such as a removable plastic bag (e.g. 1 gal), operably connected thereto. The water proof liner 18 can be such that it contains at least about 4 ounces of water which could providing sufficient cooling by wicking over a 4 to 8 hour period. This amount can fluctuate depending upon the particular climate and conditions to which the user is exposed. The water proof liner 18 can be connected to removable and in the case of removable, clips (not shown) can be used to maintain the liner 18 in position within pouch 16.
An inner wicking liner 20 is provided with an end 22 which is removably inserted into the water proof liner 18 and another end 24 connected to an inner side 26 of the cap 12. The inner wicking liner 20 can preferably be spot sewn, snapped or otherwise connected to the cap 12 in a manner which permits the water to readily wick up the inner wicking liner 20 toward the inner side 26 of the cap 12.
Inside the pouch 16 can be provided one or more sponge 28 to absorb water and stay in contact with the wicking liner 20 to deliver water thereto. In addition, the sponge 28 can prevent water in the pouch 16 from sloshing about and out therefrom. The pouch 16 can be provided with a closure mechanism, such as snaps 30. Also, provided are one or more clips 32 for removably securing the outer cover 14 to one's clothing and keep the pouch 16 from moving about. The inner wicking liner 20 is cooled by the absorbed water during the evaporation of water at end 24.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the invention in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the invention that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
In this respect, before explaining at least one embodiment of the invention in detail, it is to be understood that the invention is not limited in its application to the details of construction and to the arrangements of the components set forth in the following description or illustrated in the drawings. The invention is capable of other embodiments and of being practiced and carried out in various ways. Also, it is to be understood that the phraseology and terminology employed herein are for the purpose of description and should not be regarded as limiting.
As such, those skilled in the art will appreciate that the conception, upon which this disclosure is based, may readily be utilized as a basis for the designing of other structures, methods and systems for carrying out the several purposes of the present invention. It is important, therefore, that the claims be regarded as including such equivalent constructions insofar as they do not depart from the spirit and scope of the present invention.
Further, the purpose of the foregoing abstract is to enable the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the public generally, and especially the scientists, engineers and practitioners in the art who are not familiar with patent or legal terms or phraseology, to determine quickly from a cursory inspection the nature and essence of the technical disclosure of the application. The abstract is neither intended to define the invention of the application, which is measured by the claims, nor is it intended to be limiting as to the scope of the invention in any way.
Claims
1. A garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system, which includes
- a head garment having an outer cover connected extending down from a back of said head garment of a sufficient length to be disposed on a neck of a wearer, wherein said outer cover includes a pouch which contains a water proof liner operably connected thereto, an inner wicking liner having an end which removably inserted into said water proof liner and another end connected to an inner side of said head garment.
2. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 1, wherein said inner liner is spot connected to head garment in a manner which permits the water to readily wick up said wicking liner toward said head garment.
3. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 1, wherein inside the pouch is disposed one or more sponge to absorb water and stay in contact with said wicking liner to deliver water thereto.
4. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 1, which includes one or more clips for removably securing said outer cover to one's clothing and keep the pouch from moving about.
5. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 1, wherein said water proof liner is removable from said pouch.
6. A garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system, which includes
- a garment worn by a user having an outer cover connected extending downward therefrom, wherein said outer cover includes a pouch which contains a water proof liner operably connected thereto, an inner wicking liner having an end which removably inserted into said water proof liner and another end connected to an inner side of said garment.
7. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 6, wherein said inner liner is spot connected to head garment in a manner which permits the water to readily wick up said wicking liner toward said garment.
8. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 6, wherein inside the pouch is disposed one or more sponge to absorb water and stay in contact with said wicking liner to deliver water thereto.
9. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 6, which includes one or more clips for removably securing said outer cover to one's clothing and keep the pouch from moving about.
10. The garment which is cooled with by a water wicking system of claim 6, wherein said water proof liner is removable from said pouch.
