Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Field of Invention

The present invention relates to a pistol dart game that uses a handheld pistol that ejects a dart.

Description of Related Art

Various games exist for individuals to enjoy during their leisure time. One exemplary game includes darts, which involves a board and a handheld dart that is tossed onto the board by a player. Accuracy is an important aspect with of the game of darts. In fact, various scoring can be accomplished based upon where the dart strikes on the dartboard. One drawback to a typical dart game is that there is a need to retrieve darts from the board and occasionally players fail to strike the dartboard and the dart may fall on the ground. As a result, it would be advantageous to have a similar board game involving a dart projectile, where the retrieval of the dart is automated for the user.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a dart game system that includes: a dart projecting pistol; a dart; a string attached to one end of the dart; a spool, where the spool stores the string prior to launching the dart towards a target; and a bracket that secures the spool to the dart projecting pistol. The pistol may include a barrel, a spring within the barrel, a hammer, a trigger, a trigger guard and a grip. Preferably, the target is a game board, where the game board includes a plurality of spaces representing aspects of a dart game. The plurality of spaces may include a number or a letter designated on each space.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 depicts a dart pistol used in accordance with the present invention.

FIG. 2 depicts a dartboard that is used in conjunction with the present invention.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

The present invention relates to a dart game that is played with the use of a handheld pistol that projects the dart for the user. The handheld pistol includes a trigger, barrel, hammer and a dart attached to a string or line so that the user may retract the dart after the dart is launched from the pistol.

In reference to FIG. 1, a dart pistol 100 is depicted. The dart pistol 100 includes a barrel 22 that launches a dart 20 shown within the barrel 22 of FIG. 1. Further within the barrel is a spring 24. The spring 24 provides the power to project the dart 20 and launch it from the barrel 22 during use. The dart pistol 100 further includes a trigger 28, a trigger guard 27 and a hammer 25 shown in FIG. 1. Further as shown in FIG. 1, a line or string 32 is attached to one end of the dart 20. This string 32 is wound around a spool 30 that is anchored under the barrel 22 of the gun. An anchor 34 supports the spool 30 and string 32 wrapped around the spool 30. As stated, a game player targets a game board with the pistol 100 and launches the dart 20 from the barrel 22.

In FIG. 2, an exemplary board is shown for use with the present invention. Game board 50 includes a series of numbers and letters used for the game. These numbers may represent certain scoring associated with the dart game and further in this embodiment, lettering includes letters W, L and F in certain spaces available on the board 50. Apparently, based upon a legend 55, also shown in FIG. 2, landing on L represents a loss of turn, the W designates a game winner and F designates a free turn.

The present invention therefore provides a handheld dart pistol that projects a dart for use in a dart game, where the dart is retrievable through a line provided on a spool of the gun. This pistol with spool helps the players to retrieve their darts and eliminates some of the hassle of the conventional dart game. The instant invention has been shown and described in what it considers to be the most practical and preferred embodiments. It is recognized, however, that departures may be made there from within the scope of the invention and that obvious modifications will occur to a person skilled in the art.
