Elastic-Fitting Shirt

An elastic-fitting shirt is used as an article of clothing that provides a snug fit and a slimming look. The elastic-fitting shirt includes a shirt and an elastic hem. Like common shirts, the shirt includes a front panel, a back panel, a neck opening, and a torso opening. The elastic hem is connected to the front panel and the back panel and is positioned along the torso opening. The elastic hem is used to constrict the torso opening to provide a snug fit against the body of the user. The elastic hem includes a hem sleeve and an elastic band. The hem sleeve is connected to the shirt along the torso opening. The elastic hem is internally positioned within the hem sleeve, concealing the elastic hem from view.

Description
FIELD OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates generally wearable shirts and sweaters. More specifically, the present invention relates to elastically-fitting shirts and the like. The present invention utilizes an elastic hem to constrict a torso opening of the shirt to provide a custom fit for the user and create a neat and slimming appearance.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Various types of shirts are designed meet requirements in comfort, style, and/or performance. Most shirts are made of non-elastic materials and are sold in predetermined sizes. Because people come in all shapes and sizes, a standardized sizing system can be problematic for people who do not fit the template set forth by clothing manufacturers. One way that users are able to combat this issue is through having shirts custom-tailored to fit their body. While this is generally an effective solution, tailoring shirts can prove to be expensive. Furthermore, tailored shirts are sized to fit people at the time they are measured. Therefore, growth or changes in weight can affect how well a shirt fits.

Without tailoring a shirt, users may find it difficult to find a snug-fitting shirt. This can lead to a loose-fitting or baggy look which may be undesired by users. Further, loose-fitting shirts may be difficult to tuck into a pair of pants if necessary. This is especially the case with tight-fitting pants which may not provide much room for a shirt to be tucked. If a shirt is loose-fitting, the shirt may also become untucked relatively easily, thereby inconveniencing the user.

Accordingly, there is a present need for a shirt designed to fit users of various sizes and provide a comfortable fit even if the user experiences changes in weight. There is also a present need for a shirt capable of presenting and retaining a snug, fashionably neat, and comfortable fit whether un-tucked or tucked into a pair of pants or skirt. The present invention is an elastic-fitting shirt which utilizes an elastic hem to adjust to the size of the user. The elastic hem stretches to fit the user, creating a neat and slim look. The elastic hem also clings to the user, preventing the shirt from becoming untucked from a pair of pants.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

All illustrations of the drawings are for the purpose of describing selected versions of the present invention and are not intended to limit the scope of the present invention.

With reference to FIGS. 1-3, the present invention is an elastic-fitting shirt which provides a slimming look when left un-tucked and, if it is tucked into a pair of pants or a skirt initially, is not easily untucked. The present invention comprises a shirt 1 and an elastic hem 10. Similar to most common garments, the shirt 1 comprises a front panel 2, a back panel 3, a neck opening 4, and a torso opening 5. The shirt 1 may be made from a number of different materials. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the shirt 1 is made from wearable materials selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, wool, rayon, spandex, acetate, and combinations thereof. Alternatively, various other materials may be used. The front panel 2 and the back panel 3 are connected to each other with the neck opening 4 and the torso opening 5 delineated opposite of each other along the front panel 2 and the back panel 3. This arrangement allows the user to easily put on the shirt 1 by inserting their head through the torso opening 5 and the neck opening 4 and allowing the shirt 1 to drape over their upper body. The elastic hem 10 is connected to the front panel 2 and the back panel 3 and is perimetrically positioned along the torso opening 5. The elastic hem 10 is used to constrict the torso opening 5 to fit snug against the body of the user. The elastic hem 10 allows the shirt 1 to present a fashionably neat appearance when left un-tucked and draped over tight-fitting pants. Additionally, because the elastic hem 10 provides a snug fit, the shirt 1 cannot be easily untucked from under a pair of pants or a skirt. This is exceptionally useful when wearing tight-fitting pants which do not offer much room for tucking in shirts. The elastic hem 10 also provides a neat and slimming look which may be desirable for users. When wearing the present invention, the elastic hem 10 stretches to fit the user's body, limiting wear to the shirt 1 and limiting loose-fitting areas on the shirt 1.

In reference to FIGS. 2-3, the elastic hem 10 comprises an elastic band 11 and a hem sleeve 12. The hem sleeve 12 is perimetrically connected to the front panel 2 and the back panel 3, along the torso opening 5. The hem sleeve 12 is used to secure the elastic band 11 to the shirt 1. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the hem sleeve 12 is made from an elastic material such as spandex or other similar materials. Such materials allow the hem sleeve 12 to stretch with the elastic band 11 as needed. Alternatively, the hem sleeve 12 may be made from the same material as the shirt 1 in order to maintain a consistent look. The elastic band 11 is internally positioned along the hem sleeve 12 and helps to constrict the torso opening 5 to fit snug against the user's body.

In reference to FIGS. 1-2, the shirt 1 comprises a first seam 6 and a second seam 7. The first seam 6 and the second seam 7 are positioned opposite to each other across the torso opening 5 and connect the front panel 2 to the back panel 3. The first seam 6 and the second seam 7 also traverse through the hem sleeve 12 such that the elastic band 11 is connected to the hem sleeve 12 by the first seam 6. Similarly, the elastic band 11 is connected to the hem sleeve 12 by the second seam 7. This arrangement helps to anchor the elastic band 11 within the hem sleeve 12, allowing the elastic band 11 to expand and contract uniformly as needed.

In reference to FIGS. 3-4, a torso rim 8 of the shirt 1 is terminally positioned along the front panel 2 and the back panel 3, opposite to the neck opening 4. The torso opening 5 is perimetrically delineated by the torso rim 8. The elastic hem 10 is connected along the torso rim 8 such that the elastic hem 10 may be used to control the size of the torso opening 5. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, a perimeter 9 of the torso rim 8 is greater than an un-stretched perimeter 13 of the elastic hem 10. This arrangement allows the elastic hem 10 to constrict the torso opening 5 to fit snug against the body of the user. Depending on the material used to make the shirt 1, the shirt 1 may not stretch with the elastic hem 10. Accordingly, the elastic hem 10 is used to adjust for sizes between the un-stretched perimeter 13 of the elastic hem 10 and the perimeter 9 of the torso rim 8. In preferred embodiment of the present invention, the perimeter 9 of the torso rim 8 is greater than the un-stretched perimeter 13 of the elastic hem 10 by between 0.5 inches and 1.5 inches. This arrangement allows for adjustability without the scrunching the torso rim 8 and creating a wrinkled appearance. While this arrangement reflects the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the perimeter 9 of the torso rim 8 and the un-stretched perimeter 13 of the elastic hem 10 may differ to varying degrees if necessary.

In reference to FIG. 1, the present invention may be used for various types of shirts 1, allowing for versatility. The present invention further comprises a collar 14 which is perimetrically connected to the front panel 2 and the back panel 3 along the neck opening 4. Like with other shirts, the collar 14 may be designed for various looks, styles, or levels of comfort. In the preferred embodiment of the present invention, the collar 14 is of a style selected from the group consisting of a V-neck, a turtleneck, a button-down neck, a long point neck, and a crew-neck. Alternatively, various other styles or types of collars 14 may be used.

In reference to FIG. 1, the present invention further comprises a first sleeve 15 and a second sleeve 16. The first sleeve 15 and the second sleeve are each connected to the front panel 2 and the back panel 3. The first sleeve 15 and the second sleeve 16 are positioned opposite to each other across the shirt 1 and are used to cover all or part of the user's arms. The first sleeve 15 and the second sleeve 16 may be of various styles or types such as full length or three-quarter length sleeves.

Although the invention has been explained in relation to its preferred embodiment, it is to be understood that many other possible modifications and variations can be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as hereinafter claimed.

Claims

1. An elastic-fitting shirt comprises:

a shirt;
an elastic hem;
the shirt comprises a front panel, a back panel, a neck opening, and a torso opening;
the front panel and the back panel being connected to each other;
the neck opening and torso opening being delineated opposite of each other along the front panel and the back panel;
the elastic hem being connected to the front panel and the back panel; and
the elastic hem being perimetrically positioned along the torso opening.

2. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

the elastic hem comprises an elastic band and a hem sleeve;
the hem sleeve being perimetrically connected to the front panel and the back panel, along the torso opening; and
the elastic band being internally positioned along the hem sleeve.

3. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 2 comprises:

the shirt comprises a first seam and a second seam;
the first seam and the second seam being positioned opposite to each other across the torso opening;
the elastic band being connected to the hem sleeve by the first seam; and
the elastic band being connected to the hem sleeve by the second seam.

4. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 1 comprises:

a torso rim of the shirt being terminally positioned along the front panel and the back panel, opposite to the neck opening;
the torso opening being perimetrically delineated by the torso rim; and
a perimeter of the torso rim being greater than an un-stretched perimeter of the elastic hem.

5. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 4, wherein the perimeter of the torso rim is greater than the un-stretched perimeter of the elastic hem by between 0.5 inches and 1.5 inches.

6. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 1, wherein the shirt being made from wearable materials selected from the group consisting of cotton, polyester, wool, rayon, spandex, acetate, and combinations thereof.

7. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 1, comprises:

a collar; and
the collar being perimetrically connected to the front panel and the back panel along the neck opening.

8. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 7, wherein the collar being of a style selected from the group consisting of a V-neck, a turtleneck, a button-down neck, a long point neck, and a crew-neck.

9. The elastic-fitting shirt as claimed in claim 1, wherein the hem sleeve is made from an elastic material.
