A sock, comprising a toe portion, a heel portion, and a body portion disposed between the toe portion and the heel portion. The body portion comprises a trigonomic arch support system. The trigonomic arch support system comprises a first panel configured to support an exterior edge of an arch of a user's foot, a second panel configured to support an interior of the arch of the user's foot, and a third panel configured to support a top of the arch of the user's foot.

CROSS-REFERENCE TO RELATED APPLICATION

The present application is related to and claims priority from prior provisional application Ser. No. 62/342,602 entitled Performance Socks and the Construction, filed May 27, 2012, which application is incorporated herein by reference.

FIELD

At least some embodiments disclosed herein relate, in general, to athletic socks and more specifically to ergonomic athletic socks that provide arch support.

BACKGROUND

The typical athletic sock is often poorly suited to the needs of persons engaging in vigorous exercise, for example running. Such socks, among other things do not provide sufficient arch support, are poorly fitted, and so, if each needle pattern is not targeting specific pressure points, the material would fail to wick moisture away from the user's foot.

SUMMARY

In an embodiment, the disclosure relates to a sock, comprising a toe portion, a heel portion, and a body portion disposed between the toe portion and the heel portion. The body portion comprises a trigonomic arch support system. The trigonomic arch support system comprises a first panel configured to support an exterior edge of an arch of a user's foot, a second panel configured to support an interior of the arch of the user's foot, and a third panel configured to support a top of the arch of the user's foot.

In an embodiment, the disclosure relates to socks utilized specialized yarn contents designed to encourage wicking of moisture away from a user's foot. In an embodiment, in a cushioned version of the sock of the present disclosure, where the toe box, heel box, and the sole of the sock are cushioned, the overall yarn content is: about 76% polyester polypropylene, 14% nylon olefin, 8% rubber elastic, 2% spandex. In an embodiment of a none cushioned version of the sock of the present disclosure, the overall yarn content is: about 72% polyester polypropylene, 16% nylon olefin, 10% rubber elastic, 2% spandex.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Reference in this specification to “one embodiment” or “an embodiment” means that a particular feature, structure, or characteristic described in connection with the embodiment is included in at least one embodiment of the disclosure. The appearances of the phrase “in one embodiment” in various places in the specification are not necessarily all referring to the same embodiment, nor are separate or alternative embodiments mutually exclusive of other embodiments. In an embodiment, the disclosure relates to a sock with a trigonomic arch support system, which in various embodiments comprises three panels, one supporting the exterior edge of the arch of the foot, one supporting the interior of the arch of the foot, and one supporting the top of the arch of the foot. In an embodiment, the trigonomic arch support system is form fitted and provides locked arch support. In an embodiment, the trigonomic arch support system is constructed using an anti-slip 3D mesh that provides breathability (e.g. improved ventilation) and provides a moisturized mesh surface that enhances evaporation and helps to cool down foot temperature.

In an embodiment, above and below the trigonomic arch support system, the sock additionally comprises ergonomic flat knit contour panels comprising material with capillary action. The flat knit has capillary function and the shape is ergonomic, as it follows the foot form. In the context of the material having capillary action, it means it has wicking properties. The sock can additionally comprise a cushioned panel for plantar fascia support.

Referring now to the figures, FIG. 1 shows a left side view 100A and a right side view 100B of an exemplary sock in accordance with the present disclosure. FIG. 2 shows a left side top perspective view 100C, a right side bottom perspective view 100D, a left side bottom perspective view 100E, and a top perspective 100F view of an exemplary sock in accordance with the present disclosure.

With respect to FIG. 1 and FIG. 2, the sock 100A-F comprises a toe portion 140, a heel portion 160, and a body portion disposed between the toe portion 140 and the heel portion 160.

In an embodiment, the body portion comprises a trigonomic (e.g. tri point) arch support system 110. In an embodiment, the trigonomic arch support system 110 comprises a first panel 112 configured to support an exterior edge of an arch of a user's foot, a second panel 114 configured to support an interior of the arch of the user's foot, and a third panel configured to support a top of the arch of the user's foot 116.

In an embodiment, the trigonomic arch support system 110 is form fitted and provides locked arch support for the arch of the user's foot. In an embodiment, the trigonomic arch support system is constructed using an anti-slip 3D mesh. The sock of claim 3 wherein the anti-slip 3D mesh provides a moisturized mesh surface.

In an embodiment, the body portion additionally comprises at least one flat knit panel 120 adjacent to the trigonomic arch support system, wherein the panel is contoured to conform to the contour of the user's foot. In an embodiment the material of the flat knit panels 120 has wicking properties. In an embodiment, the body portion can additionally provide a space for branding 122 adjacent to a flat-panel 120.

In an embodiment, the body portion additionally comprises a cushioned support panel 130 for supporting a plantar fascia area of the user's foot. In an embodiment, the toe portion 140 comprises a seamless toe box. In an embodiment, the seamless toe box comprises a reinforced ergonomic toe box. In an embodiment, the gore line 142 of the toe box is shown in FIG. 2. In an embodiment, the seam between the toe portion 140 in the body portion can have terry cloth over the seam.

In an embodiment, the sock additionally comprises an ankle portion 150 adjacent to the body portion and the heel portion. In an embodiment, the ankle portion 150 comprises an ankle belt. In the illustrated embodiment, the ankle portion 150 additionally includes a plush cushioned tab 152, and a comfort ankle belt 154. In an embodiment, the comfort ankle belt 154 can include a size marker 156 inside the center front of the comfort ankle belt 154. In various other embodiments, the ankle portion 150 does not include the plush tab 152. In various other embodiments the ankle portion 150 does not include the plush tab 152 for the comfort ankle belt 154.

In an embodiment, the heel portion 160 wherein the heel portion comprises a deep heel pocket with a deep Y gore fitted heel. In an embodiment, the sock additionally comprises a cuboid notch reinforcement (not shown).

In various embodiments, the socks of the present disclosure utilizes yarns designed specifically to transport sweat away from the skin. Among the benefits of using such a yarn is that it helps to activate blood circulation and body metabolism, expand capillaries, help discharge tocsin and fat, and facilitate the molecular motion of water in the body. These yarns are anti-odor, have capillary action, are capable of wicking moisture away from the skin, they facilitate the dispersion and evaporation of water, their comfortable, soft, and resistant.

In an embodiment of a cushioned version of the sock 100A-F of the present disclosure, where the toe box, heel box, and the sole of the sock are cushioned, the overall yarn content is: about 76% polyester polypropylene, 14% nylon olefin, 8% rubber elastic, 2% spandex. In an embodiment, polyester polypropylene is polyester 150d/1, nylon olefin is nylon 70d/1, the rubber elastic is #100 rubber, and spandex is #20 spandex.

These various materials are used as follows:

    • Outer yarn: polyester polypropylene
    • Inner yarn: nylon olefin+rubber elastic+spandex
    • Pattern (wording/size/line/logo ex: “R”/mesh/side stripe/size spot): polyester
    • Pattern (row): nylon olefin
    • Pattern (RIB): rubber elastic-compression part.
    • Cushion of toe portion/heel portion/tab part: outer polyester, inner nylon olefin & spandex
    • Sole cushion: outer polyester, inner nylon olefin, spandex & rubber
    • Terry loop of cushion: polyester polypropylene
    • Cuff (welt part): polyester+inner rubber.

In an embodiment, the outer yarn is 72 to 96 filaments micro cutting soft polypropylene polyester 150 D/1 double cool. In an embodiment the inner yarn is olefin nylon and polyester 70 5D/1 covered spandex yarn and nylon covering of elastics.

In an embodiment of a none cushioned version of the sock 100A-F of the present disclosure, the overall yarn content is: about 72% polyester polypropylene, 16% nylon olefin, 10% rubber elastic, 2% spandex. In an embodiment, polyester polypropylene is polyester 150d/1, nylon olefin is nylon 70d/1, the rubber elastic is #100 rubber, and spandex is #20 spandex.

These various materials are used as follows.

Claims

1. A sock, comprising:

a toe portion;
a heel portion; and
a body portion disposed between the toe portion and the heel portion, the body portion comprising a trigonomic arch support system, the trigonomic arch support system comprising: a first panel configured to support an exterior edge of an arch of a user's foot, a second panel configured to support an interior of the arch of the user's foot, and a third panel configured to support a top of the arch of the user's foot.

2. The sock of claim 1 wherein the trigonomic arch support system is form fitted and provides locked arch support for the arch of the user's foot.

3. The sock of claim 2 wherein the trigonomic arch support system is constructed using an anti-slip 3D mesh.

4. The sock of claim 3 wherein the anti-slip 3D mesh provides a moisturized mesh surface.

5. The sock of claim 1 wherein the body portion additionally comprises at least one flat knit panel adjacent to the trigonomic arch support system, wherein the panel is contoured to conform to a contour of the user's foot.

6. The sock of claim 5 wherein a material of the at least one flat knit panel has wicking properties.

7. The sock of claim 1 wherein the body portion additionally comprises a cushioned support panel for supporting a plantar fascia area of the user's foot.

8. The sock of claim 1 wherein the toe portion comprises a seamless toe box.

9. The sock of claim 8 wherein the seamless toe box comprises a reinforced ergonomic toe box.

10. The sock of claim 1 additionally comprises an ankle portion adjacent to the body portion and the heel portion, the ankle portion comprising an ankle belt.

11. The sock of claim 1 wherein the heel portion comprises a deep heel pocket with Y gore fitted heel.

12. The sock of claim 1 additionally comprising a cuboid notch reinforcement.

13. The sock of claim 1 wherein a yarn content of the sock comprises polyester polypropylene, nylon olefin, rubber elastic, and spandex.

14. The sock of claim 13 wherein the yarn content of the sock comprises about 76% polyester polypropylene, 14% nylon olefin, 8% rubber elastic, 2% spandex.

15. The sock of claim 13 wherein the yarn content of the sock comprises about 72% polyester polypropylene, 16% nylon olefin, 10% rubber elastic, 2% spandex.

16. The sock of claim 1 wherein

an outer yarn of the sock is 72 to 96 filaments micro cutting soft polypropylene polyester 150 D/1 double cool and
an inner yarn of the sock is olefin nylon and polyester 70 5D/1 covered spandex yarn and nylon covering of elastics.

17. A sock having a yarn content comprising about 76% polyester polypropylene, 14% nylon olefin, 8% rubber elastic, 2% spandex.

18. A sock having a yarn content comprises about 72% polyester polypropylene, 16% nylon olefin, 10% rubber elastic, 2% spandex.
