TECHNICAL FIELD

This invention relates generally to toys and more specifically concerns a transporter or carrying case for an elf doll.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

Children enjoy playing with dolls, including elf dolls. However, for various reasons and in accordance with various traditions concerning certain dolls, including elf dolls, children are discouraged or prevented from taking their dolls with them wherever they may go, particularly in certain seasons. Accordingly, the present invention allows children to conveniently carry around and show off their elf dolls without physical contact with the doll itself. The invention is a transparent transporter or carrying case with a handle on top which protects the elf doll from damage from weather and other elements on adventures that the children may have with their elf doll.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Accordingly, the present invention is a transporter case for a child's doll or toy. comprising: a base member having a circumferential lip portion; a transparent dome portion; and a handle extending from the transparent dome portion defining an opening large enough to accommodate the hand of a user, wherein the circumferential lip portion of the base member and a lower edge of the dome portion are configured to attach together and to come apart.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS

FIG. 1 shows a child holding an elf doll transporter case of the present invention.

FIG. 2 shows a child carrying the transporter case of FIG. 1 in a playground venue.

FIG. 3 is a perspective view of the transporter case.

FIG. 4 is a close-up exploded view of the dome portion of the transporter case and its base.

FIG. 5 is a perspective view showing the elf doll in the transporter case, with snowflake confetti in the transporter case.

BEST MODE FOR CARRYING OUT THE INVENTION

FIGS. 1-5 show an elf doll transporter case 10 of the present invention. While the present description concerns a transporter case for a flexible, fabric doll 12, in the shape of an elf, for illustration, it should be understood that the transporter case can be conveniently used for other similar dolls. Further, while the description includes the term transporter case, it could also be referred to as a carrying case. The transporter case 10 provides a convenient and fun way for children to carry their elf doll. The transporter case include a transparent dome 14 and a base 16 which may take various sizes. It must have a large enough interior, however, to accommodate an elf or similar doll or toy. In one embodiment, the dome has a diameter of 6-8 inches which extends upwardly with the same diameter for approximately 8-12 inches, terminating in a curved top 18. The lower edge 20 of the dome 14 is threaded so that it can be screwed into matching threads of the circular base 16. Other fastener arrangements, such as snaps, can be used.

The dome 14 is typically made of plastic, glass or other transparent material. The base, in the embodiment shown, is approximately 1-2 inches high and can typically comprise various solid colors, although it could also be clear. The base has an internal floor 22 on which the elf can sit/stand. The elf can be attached to the floor 22 by various fastening elements, including hook and loop elements 23. The base is configured so that it can sit flat on flat surfaces without additional support. The dome 14 is transparent so as to provide a full view of the elf at all times. The dome portion 14 can also be decorated with various elements, including candy canes, mistletoe or other festive elements, illustrated generally at 24. Also as shown in FIG. 5, the transporter case can, but not necessarily, include snowflake confetti 26, to give the impression of a conventional snow globe.

Extending from the top of the dome is a handle 26. The handle 26 can have various configurations, although in the embodiment shown, it includes two outwardly angled side members 28 and 30 and an intermediate straight member 32 between the upper end of the side members. The angled side members and the top member define an opening 34, large enough to accommodate the hand of a child for ease of carrying.

Again, although the figures show an elf within the transporter case for illustration, it should be understood that other similar toys/dolls can be used with the transporter case depending upon the desire of the owner.

Although a preferred embodiment of the invention has been disclosed for purposes of illustration, it should be understood that various changes, modifications and substitutions may be incorporated in the embodiment without departing from the spirit of the invention, which is defined by the claims which follow.
