DEFEND A PACK a bulletproof vest with backpack attached all-in-one
A utility pack is provided. The utility pack is a combination of a vest, bag and liner. The vest of the current invention, includes a back portion containing a bulletproof plate, side portions, a left front flap with enclosed bulletproof plate and a right front flap that close and fasten with velcro, forming a double-breasted vest unit made of 100% ballistic nylon material. The backpack/bag (made of ballistic material) of the current invention, includes a large internal compartment, accessible by compartment zipper and a small compartment accessible by compartment zipper, the bag is worn, using two shoulder straps that are adjustable for size and comfort, the bag has velcro strips on back portion of bag, used to fasten accompanying bulletproof vest, to form one unit. The bag houses eight snap buttons, that, when aligned with corresponding backpack liner (100% ballistic material) snap buttons, connect and form the appearance of a traditional backpack, that, conceals the attached bulletproof vest from the public eye. The utility pack of the current invention, is made in various sizes for the convenient use of all wearers.

A bulletproof vest, ballistic vest or bullet-resistant vest is an item of external personal protection that is designed to assist in the absorption of related fired ammunition as well as shrapnel/projectiles from various explosions, the vest is worn on the torso, covering front, back and sides of person. Soft pads inserted in the vest front and back openings, are comprised of many layers of woven or laminated fabric and can be capable of protecting the wearer from NIJ level IIIA caliber hand/shotgun projectiles, to also include some protection from small fragments, shrapnel and debris from explosives such as hand grenades and or pipe bombs. Hard pads inserted in the vest front and back openings, are comprised of a variation of metal, ceramic and or polyurethane, these plates are capable of protecting the wearer from NIJ level III caliber ammunition, fired by shotguns/assault rifles, to also include some protections from small fragments, shrapnel and debris from explosives such as hand grenades and/or pipe bombs.
A backpack is a device to house a wearer's belongings, this device can be worn at all times and in most places allowing a wearer to be hands-free, when used in connection/combination with a bulletproof vest, the wearer can travel with bulletproof protection at all times and in most places.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONBest description of the present invention, is described as a sole utility pack comprised of: a vest comprising of velcro and ballistic fabric functioning as a double breasted garment, housing 1 bulletproof plate in the front chest area and 1 bullet proof plate in the back spine area.
Vest is attached to back side of the backpack cavity via, velcro strips and is concealed from view within a comparable liner, affixed with snap buttons to the back of the backpack cavity.
The backpack is comprised of a comparable ballistic fabric w/one main opening leading to an internal compartment, a secondary smaller compartment on the bottom portion of cavity for smaller objects. The device is worn with two padded shoulder straps, that are adjustable per size.
The following detailed description is of the best currently contemplated modes of carrying out exemplary embodiments of the invention. The description is not to be taken in a limiting sense, but is made merely for the purpose of illustrating the general principles of the invention, since the scope of the invention is best outlined by the appended claims.
The present invention includes a ballistic vest and detachable ballistic backpack that conceals the vest between the backpack and the accompanied liner affixed by snap buttons.

The rear velcro strips 14, are also used in convenience for speedy attachment and/or detachment from bag cavity 2, in the event of emergency or quick get-away. The vest 1, has openings at bottom seams, at both left flap 4, and back portion 1, these openings are designed to, house the two bullet proof plates 15, the openings at bottom seams are opened and sealed, with sewn in velcro strips 16 to secure placement of bulletproof plates 15, and prevent spillage. The entire vest 1, is made of 1680 ballistic nylon, it helps protect/refrain ballistic debris, fragments and projectiles from penetrating the vest 1. The vest 1, is worn by inserting left arm, through left flap 4 arm hole, then pulling left flap 4 across chest, then, inserting right arm, through right flap 3 arm hole, then pulling right flap 3 over top of left flap 4 over the chest, sealing vest to fit with corresponding sewn in velcro 17 & 18 on front flaps. The vest 1, can be worn with, or without, supporting backpack 2, to wear without; detach the vest 1 rear portion from the backside of backpack cavity 2, by pulling vest 1, away from the affixed velcro strips 13 & 14, to conform and separate a one piece utility pack, into two separate functioning units.

Claims
1. A utility pack comprising,
- a) Vest comprising of a left front flap, right front flap, side portions and a back portion to form a double-breasted vest made of 100% ballistic nylon, carrying two velcro loop strips on the back portion, used to attach and detach accompanying backpack,
- b) A backpack made of ballistic material, comprising of eight snap buttons, housing two compartments accessible via zipper pulls and sewn in velcro hook strips for attaching and detaching the accompanying vest,
- c) A backpack liner made of 100% ballistic material, comprising of eight snap buttons,
- d) Two bulletproof plates.
2. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the front flaps of vest body carrying one of two bulletproof plates, are fastened with velcro strips, to form a double breast over the chest of wearer.
3. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the back portion of vest body carrying one of two bulletproof plates, is connected to backpack with corresponding velcro hook strips, to conform two units to one.
4. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the bulletproof plates are housed and sealed by velcro strips located at the bottom of front left flap seam and the bottom of back portion seam.
5. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the 2 elastic strips, on either side of vest body, are used to function as size adjustment to fit wearer.
6. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the backpack liner snaps are used to affix to the backpack, concealing the bulletproof vest from public eye.
7. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the backpack contains 2 velcro hook strips, used in conjunction with corresponding vest's velcro loop strips to fasten vest to backpack.
8. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the backpack uses corresponding snap buttons in connection with the backpack liner snap buttons, used to help conceal the bulletproof vest from public eye.
9. The utility pack of claim 1, wherein the utility pack in it's entirety (vest, backpack and liner) is comprised of 100% ballistic material.
