This application claims benefit of priority to U.S. provisional patent application No. 62/801,208, filed Feb. 5, 2019.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Technical FieldThe present invention relates in general to personal carry bags for personal items and in particular to personal carry bags that are reconfigurable for secondary uses.
2. Description of the Related ArtLarger, portable electronic devices, such as laptops and tablets, are typically carried around by a user in a personal carry bag or personal carry bag. The computer bag's primary purpose is to allow efficient transport (or carrying) of the device by the user, while providing some protection for the device. In most conventional designs, the personal carry bag includes an opening in a top section through which the portable device is inserted. Some conventional designs also provide an inside sleeve with some additional padding to protect the device from physical damage in the event the personal carry bag is impacted from the side or accidentally dropped. Additionally, the personal carry bags may include secondary pockets, pouches, and/or compartments for storing other user items, such as documents, pens, accessories, smaller devices, power cables, a mouse, etc.
Unlike with smaller handheld devices that are designed to be used while standing and/or walking around, a user of a larger portable device typically has to sit down in order to best access and utilize his/her device. Also, users typically utilize their portable electronic devices in places outside of the home or office, where un-cushioned, hard surface seating are provided. For example, a large number of users utilize their portable devices while sitting in a café or library, or on a bench at a bus stop or in the park. The available seating at these locations are generally uncomfortable, as they are designed more for utility and not for comfort to the user's buttocks or back. However, the user of the device has little choice, and has to sit on the uncomfortable seating provided in order to properly access and use their larger portable device.
