Waterproof Sock Cover Apparatus
A waterproof sock cover apparatus for keeping feet warm and dry in any boot includes a sock body having a foot portion and a cuff portion. The foot portion is configured to receive a user's foot wearing a standard sock and the cuff portion is configured to extend above the standard sock and below a user's knee. The sock body comprises a breathable and soft inner layer, an insulating medial layer continuously disposed around the inner layer, and a waterproof outer layer continuously disposed around the medial layer. A sole is coupled to a bottom side of the foot portion. An elastic band is coupled to the sock body within an upper perimeter of the cuff portion. The elastic band and the surrounding sock body define an elasticized collar configured to secure a user's leg. The sock body is configured to be worn within a boot.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention (2) DESCRIPTION OF RELATED ART INCLUDING INFORMATION DISCLOSED UNDER 37 CFR 1.97 AND 1.98The disclosure and prior art relates to socks and more particularly pertains to a new sock for keeping feet warm and dry in any boot.
BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTIONAn embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a sock body having a foot portion and a cuff portion. The foot portion is configured to receive a user's foot wearing a standard sock and the cuff portion is configured to extend above the standard sock and below a user's knee. The sock body comprises an inner layer, a medial layer, and an outer layer. The inner layer is breathable and soft. The medial layer is coupled to the inner layer and is continuously disposed around the inner layer. The medial layer is insulating. The outer layer is coupled to the medial layer and is continuously disposed around the medial layer. The outer layer is waterproof. A sole is coupled to the sock body. The sole is coupled to a bottom side of the foot portion. An elastic band is coupled to the sock body within an upper perimeter of the cuff portion. The elastic band and the surrounding sock body define an elasticized collar configured to secure a user's leg.
There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.
The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.
The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:
With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to
As best illustrated in
A sole 30 is coupled to the sock body 12. The sole 30 is coupled to a bottom side 32 of the foot portion 14. The sole 30 may be rubberized and may have a plurality of circular grip protrusions 34 to prevent slippage when the apparatus 10 is worn without boots.
An elastic band 36 is coupled to the sock body 12. The elastic band 36 is coupled within an upper perimeter 38 of the cuff portion 16. The elastic band 36 and the surrounding sock body 12 define an elasticized collar 40 configured to secure a user's leg 42 below the user's knee 22. The elasticized collar 40 may have a bottom stitch line 44 extending through all three layers of the sock body 12. The elasticized collar 40 has a resting diameter smaller than a diameter of the cuff portion 16 but is expandable. The elasticized collar 40 may be rounded. A grip band 46 is coupled to the sock body 12. The grip band 46 is coupled to the inner layer 24 within the cuff portion 16 adjacent the elasticized collar 40. The grip band 46 is configured to prevent the cuff portion 16 from sliding down the user's leg 42. The grip band 46 may be a woven silicone blend.
In use, the sock body 12 is pulled over the standard sock 20 until the elasticized collar extends above the user's boot and below the user's knee 22. The apparatus 10 may be used with boots that are not insulated or waterproof and still maintain the user's foot 18 warm and dry.
With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.
Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
