BABY COVERALL

Abstract

A baby coverall, that can be lengthened to accommodate an increasing length of babies, having a torso portion, a leg portion, and a foot portion. The leg portion having a left leg and a right leg. The foot portion having a left foot and a right foot. Two zippers for each the left leg and the right leg, wherein the upper tape of the zipper attaches a sleeve to the periphery of the leg and a lower tape attaches the opposite edge of the sleeve to the foot of the coverall. The upper tape having a slider of the zipper, wherein the slider can engage with the lower tape for zipping the two halves of the zipper i.e., the upper tape and the lower tape. Unzipping releases the lower tape, thus extending the length of the baby coverall.

Description

FIELD OF INVENTION

The present invention relates to a baby garment, and more particularly, the present invention relates to a baby coverall that can be selectively lengthened or shortened to accommodate for the growth of an infant or toddler.

BACKGROUND

A baby coverall is a one-piece garment for babies and covers the body from the foot up to the neck. A typical baby coverall can include an integrated foot portion, leg portion, torso portion, and arm portion. A zipper or snaps can be there along the length of the torso portion that allows wearing the coverall. The baby coverall is generally is available in different sizes for different ages of a baby.

Up to 2 years of age, the growth in babies is very quick and particularly the babies gain height fast. Due to rapid growth in the early years of a baby, the clothes become useless in a few months because the size of a baby grows quickly. Thus, new clothes must be purchased for a baby frequently in weeks or months. Particularly, the growth of babies in the age group 0-9 months is quick and new clothes have to be purchased in few week intervals.

The baby coveralls are of a size fitting onto the body. So, the baby coveralls must be of a proper size for a baby. The growth of babies in their first year is mainly in the length of the legs. Thus, parents have to frequently purchase the baby coveralls of a larger size, while the old one becomes useless. Thus, a desire is there for a baby coverall that can be selectively adjusted in size to accommodate for the growth of a baby. A need is there that saves parents from buying new baby coveralls frequently.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The following presents a simplified summary of one or more embodiments of the present invention in order to provide a basic understanding of such embodiments. The principal object of the present invention is therefore directed to a baby coverall that can be adjusted in length.

It is another object of the present invention that the baby coverall can accommodate itself to the growing length of a baby.

It is still another object of the present invention that the baby coverall is economical to manufacture.

It is yet another object of the present invention that the baby coverall saves the parents from frequently purchasing new coveralls.

It is a further object of the present invention that the baby coverall can be easily lengthened and shortened.

It is still a further object of the present invention that the baby coverall is made of skin friendly material.

It is yet a further object of the present invention that the baby coverall is easy to dress and undress.

In one aspect, disclosed is a baby coverall that includes a torso portion, arm sleeves including a left arm sleeve and a right arm sleeve both extends from the torso portion. The baby coverall also includes a leg portion having a left leg and a right leg. The baby coverall also includes a foot portion having a left foot and a right foot. Each the left leg and the right leg having a zipper coupled to its lower portion adjacent to the foot portion. The zipper configured to allow selectively lengthening and shortening of the left leg and the right leg of the baby coverall.

In one aspect, the zipper includes an upper tape, a lower tape spaced at a predetermined distance from the upper tape. The upper tape and the lower tape attached to the leg portion of the baby coverall, wherein the upper tape and the lower tape run around the left leg and the right leg. The predetermined distance is proportional to the adjustable length of each the left leg and the right leg.

In one aspect, the zipper includes an upper tape, a lower tape, and a slider. The slider having a box attached with a pull tab. Each the upper tape and the lower tape having a continuous teeth chain. The upper tape runs around a leg, wherein the ends of the teeth chain are joined by a stop. The upper tape includes the slider. The lower tape runs parallel and below the upper tape and has a pin at one end and a stop at the other end. The pin and the stop are closely spaced such that the pin can be inserted into the box of the slider for zipping.

In one aspect, the disclosed baby coverall can include a leg portion having the left leg and the right leg, a sleeve of a predetermined length for each the left leg and the right leg, and a foot portion having a left foot and the right foot. Each leg of the leg portion having its periphery of the opening attached to the upper tape of the zipper and the proximal edge of the sleeve. Each foot of the foot portion having its periphery of the opening attached to the lower tape of the zipper and the distal edge of the sleeve. The predetermined length of the sleeve is proportional to the adjustable length of the baby coverall.

Referring to FIGS. 1 and 2, which shows an exemplary embodiment of the baby coverall 100. The disclosed baby coverall 100 having a torso portion 110, a pair of arm sleeves that extends from the torso portion, and a pair of legs that extends downward from the torso portion. The pair of legs including a left leg 120 and a right leg 130. Each the left leg and the right leg having a left foot 140 and a right foot 150. The left foot can be seen attached to the left leg through the first zipper 160, and similarly, the right foot is attached to the right leg through the second zipper 170.

Each the first zipper and the second zipper includes a pair of tapes i.e., the upper tape and the lower tape. Each upper tape and the lower tape include a continuous teeth chain for engaging the upper tape to the lower tape. The structure and functioning of the zippers is known to a skilled person having the two tapes and a slider. The slider having the box and a pull tab. In the two channels of the box runs the two teeth chains of the two tapes. FIG. 1 also shows a third zipper 195 that runs from the neck of the torso portion up to either the left leg or the right leg. It is to be understood that the third zipper 195 shown in FIG. 1 can be replaced by buttons, hook and loop fastener, or any other fastener known to a skilled person for use in clothing.

Referring the FIG. 3, which shows the baby coverall in a lengthened configuration. Two sleeves i.e., a left sleeve 160 and a right sleeve 170 can be seen between the two tapes of the zipper. The disclosed baby coverall can be lengthened and shortened to accommodate to increasing lengths of the babies. The change in length of the baby coverall can be proportional to the length of the two sleeves. Each the first leg and the second leg have a zipper for lengthening the baby coveralls. Each leg is coupled to an upper tape 180 of the zipper and a proximal edge of the sleeve 170. The opposite edge of the sleeve i.e., the distal edge can be coupled to the lower tape 190 of the zipper and the foot portion 150.

The two ends of the teeth chain of the upper tape are joined by a stop forming a continuous loop. The teeth chain includes the slider, wherein the slider runs along the length of the upper tape. The teeth chain of the lower tape having the stop at one end and a pin at the other end. The lower tap also forms a loop, wherein the pin and the stop are closely spaced. The pin can be inserted into the slider for fastening the lower tape to the upper tape resulting in shortening the length of the baby coverall. To lengthen the baby coverall, the zipper can be unzipped, and the pin removed from the slider. The increase in the length of the baby coverall can be proportional to the length of the sleeve. Two or more of such zippers and sleeves can be provided for an incremental increase in the size of the baby coverall.

Claims

1. A baby coverall comprising:

a torso portion;

a left leg and a right leg that extends downward from the torso portion;

a left foot and a right foot;

a first sleeve and a second sleeve, each the first sleeve and the second sleeve of a predetermined length, the predetermined length is proportional to a length by which the baby coverall can be extended;

a first zipper having an upper tape and a lower tape, the upper tape sandwiched between a periphery of the opening of the left leg, and a proximal edge of the first sleeve, the upper tape having a teeth chain with its two ends coupled by a stop, a slider engaged with the upper tape, the lower tape sandwiched between a distal edge of the first sleeve and a periphery of an opening of the left foot, the lower tape having a continuous teeth chain of which one end is having a stop and the other end having a pin, the pin configured to be received into a box of the slider for zipping the lower tape with the upper tape; and

a second zipper having an upper tape and a lower tape, the upper tape sandwiched between a periphery of an opening of the right leg and a proximal edge of the second sleeve, the upper tape having a teeth chain with its two ends coupled by a stop, a slider engaged with the upper tape, the lower tape sandwiched between a distal edge of the second sleeve and a periphery of an opening of the right foot, the lower tape having a continuous teeth chain of which one end is having a stop and the other end having a pin, the pin configured to be received into a box of the slider for zipping the lower tape with the upper tape.

2. The baby coverall according to claim 1, wherein the baby coverall further comprises a third zipper that extends between a neck of the torso portion and up to the right leg.

3. The baby coverall according to claim 1, wherein the baby coverall further comprises a plurality of buttons that extends between a neck of the torso portion and up to the right leg.
