Disposable Salon Cape Assembly

A disposable salon cape assembly for inhibiting bacterial transmission between a barber and a patron includes a cape that can be worn around a patron in a salon. The cape is comprised of a biodegradable material such that the cape can be discarded and degrade after the cape is worn on the patron. Moreover, the cape has a fluid impermeable coating integrated thereon to inhibit bacterial transmission between a barber and the patron. A first mating member is coupled to the cape and a tab is coupled to and extends away from the cape. A second mating member is coupled to the tab and the second mating member is matable to the first mating member close the neck opening around the patron's neck.

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION (1) Field of the Invention

The disclosure relates to salon cape devices and more particularly pertains to a new salon cape device for inhibiting bacterial transmission between a barber and a patron.

(2) Description of Related Art including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to salon cape devices including a variety of disposable salon capes that can be discarded after use.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a cape that can be worn around a patron in a salon. The cape is comprised of a biodegradable material such that the cape can be discarded and degrade after the cape is worn on the patron. Moreover, the cape has a fluid impermeable coating integrated thereon to inhibit bacterial transmission between a barber and the patron. A first mating member is coupled to the cape and a tab is coupled to and extends away from the cape. A second mating member is coupled to the tab and the second mating member is matable to the first mating member close the neck opening around the patron's neck.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 5 thereof, a new salon cape device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 5, the disposable salon cape assembly 10 generally comprises a cape 12 that can be worn around a patron 14 in a salon. The cape 12 is comprised of a biodegradable material, such as paper or other organic material. In this way the cape 12 can be discarded and degrade after the cape 12 is worn on the patron 14. The cape 12 has a fluid impermeable coating 16 that is integrated thereon to inhibit bacterial transmission between a barber 18 and the patron 14. Additionally, the fluid impermeable coating 16 protects the patron 14 from fluid treatments, such as hair dye or the like, that the barber 18 may employ. Moreover, the fluid impermeable coating 16 is comprised of an organic compound, such as paraffin wax or the like. In this way the fluid impermeable coating 16 will decay when the cape 12 is discarded.

The cape 12 has a first surface 20, a second surface 22 and a perimeter edge 24 extending therebetween, and the perimeter edge 24 has a top side 26, a bottom side 28, a first lateral side 30 and a second lateral side 32. The fluid impermeable coating 16 is positioned on the first surface 20 of the cape 12 such that the fluid impermeable coating 16 is exposed when the cape 12 is worn on the patron 14. Additionally, the fluid impermeable coating 16 completely covers the first surface 20. As is most clearly shown in FIG. 2, indicia 33 may be printed on the fluid impermeable coating 16 and the indicia 33 may comprise a logo or an image.

The top side 26 has a curved portion 34 extending toward the bottom side 28. Moreover, the curved portion 34 has a continuously arcuate section 36 such that the continuously arcuate section 36 forms a circular neck opening 38. Additionally, the neck opening 38 is centrally positioned between the first lateral side 30 and the second lateral side 32. In this way the neck opening 38 can be positioned around the patron's neck 40 having the cape 12 covering the patron's upper torso 42.

A first mating member 44 is coupled to the cape 12 and the first mating member 44 is positioned on the first surface 20 of the cape 12. The first mating member 44 is aligned with the continuously arcuate section 36 of the curved portion 34 of the top side 26 of the perimeter edge 24. The first mating member 44 is comprised of an adhesive material. Additionally, the first mating member 44 is comprised of a biodegradable material.

A tab 46 is provided and the tab 46 is coupled to and extends away from the cape 12. The tab 46 extends away from the curved portion 34 of the top side 26 of the perimeter edge 24 of the cape 12. The tab 46 is positioned on an opposite side of the neck opening 38 with respect to the first mating member 44. Additionally, the tab 46 has a first surface 48 and a distal end 50 with respect to the continuously arcuate section 36 of the curved portion 34 of the top side 26.

A second mating member 52 is coupled to the tab 46 and the second mating member 52 is matable to the first mating member 44 to close the neck opening 38 around the patron's neck 40. The second mating member 52 is positioned on the first surface 20 of the tab 46. The second mating member 52 is positioned adjacent to the distal end 50 of the tab 46. Additionally, the second mating member 52 is comprised of an adhesive material and the second mating member 52 is comprised of a biodegradable material.

In an alternative embodiment 54 as is most clearly shown in FIG. 5, the top side 26 may have a width that is less than the width of the bottom side 28. Additionally, a neck strap 56 may loop upwardly from the top side 26 for looping around the patron's neck 40. A pair of straps 58 may each be coupled to and extend away from a respective first lateral side 30 and second lateral side 32 of the perimeter edge 24 of the cape 12 or tying around the patron 14.

In use, the cape 12 is worn on the patron 14 when the patron 14 is in the salon to get a haircut or other cosmetic service. The fluid impermeable coating 16 inhibits bacterial transmission between the barber 18 and the patron 14. In this way the cape 12 is appropriate for use during a pandemic or other situation when infectious disease is of great concern. The cape 12 is discarded when the haircut or other cosmetic service is completed. Additionally, the cape 12, the first mating member 44 and the second mating member 52 degrade when the cape 12 is discarded.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.

Claims

1. A disposable salon cape assembly for inhibiting person to person contact between a barber and a patron in a salon, said assembly comprising:

a cape being configured to be worn around a patron in a salon, said cape being comprised of a biodegradable material wherein said cape is configured to be discarded and degrade after said cape is worn on the patron, said cape having a fluid impermeable coating being integrated thereon wherein said fluid impermeable coating is configured to inhibit bacterial transmission between a barber and the patron, said fluid impermeable material being comprised of an organic compound wherein said fluid impermeable material is configured to decay when said cape is discarded;
a first mating member being coupled to said cape;
a tab being coupled to and extending away from said cape; and
a second mating member being coupled to said tab, said second mating member being matable to said first mating member wherein each of said first mating member and said second mating member are configured to close said neck opening around the patron's neck.

2. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said cape has a first surface, a second surface and a perimeter edge extending therebetween, said perimeter edge having a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said top side having a curved portion extending toward said bottom side, said curved portion having a continuously arcuate section such that said continuously arcuate section forms a circular neck opening wherein said neck opening is configured to be positioned around the patron's neck having said cape covering the patron's upper torso.

The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said fluid impermeable coating is positioned on said first surface of said cape wherein said fluid impermeable coating is configured to be exposed when said cape is worn on the patron, said fluid impermeable coating completely covering said first surface.

4. The assembly according to claim 2, wherein said first mating member is positioned on said first surface of said cape, said first mating member being aligned with said continuously arcuate section of said curved portion of said top side of said perimeter edge.

5. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said first mating member is comprised of an adhesive material.

6. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said first mating member is comprised of a biodegradable material.

7. The assembly according to claim 4, wherein said tab extends away from said curved portion of said top side of said perimeter edge of said cape, said tab being positioned on an opposite side of said neck opening with respect to said first mating member, said tab having a first surface and a distal end with respect to said continuously arcuate section of said curved portion of said top side.

8. The assembly according to claim 7, wherein said second mating member is positioned on said first surface of said tab, said second mating member being positioned adjacent to said distal end of said tab.

9. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said second mating member is comprised of an adhesive material.

10. The assembly according to claim 1, wherein said second mating member is comprised of a biodegradable material.

11. A disposable salon cape assembly for inhibiting person to person contact between a barber and a patron in a salon, said assembly comprising:

a cape being configured to be worn around a patron in a salon, said cape being comprised of a biodegradable material wherein said cape is configured to be discarded and degrade after said cape is worn on the patron, said cape having a fluid impermeable coating being integrated thereon wherein said fluid impermeable coating is configured to inhibit bacterial transmission between a barber and the patron, said fluid impermeable coating being comprised of an organic compound wherein said fluid impermeable coating is configured to decay when said cape is discarded, said cape having a first surface, a second surface and a perimeter edge extending therebetween, said perimeter edge having a top side, a bottom side, a first lateral side and a second lateral side, said top side having a curved portion extending toward said bottom side, said curved portion having a continuously arcuate section such that said continuously arcuate section forms a circular neck opening wherein said neck opening is configured to be positioned around the patron's neck having said cape covering the patron's upper torso, said fluid impermeable coating being positioned on said first surface of said cape wherein said fluid impermeable coating is configured to be exposed when said cape is worn on the patron, said fluid impermeable coating completely covering said first surface;
a first mating member being coupled to said cape, said first mating member being positioned on said first surface of said cape, said first mating member being aligned with said continuously arcuate section of said curved portion of said top side of said perimeter edge, said first mating member being comprised of an adhesive material, said first mating member being comprised of a biodegradable material;
a tab being coupled to and extending away from said cape, said tab extending away from said curved portion of said top side of said perimeter edge of said cape, said tab being positioned on an opposite side of said neck opening with respect to said first mating member, said tab having a first surface and a distal end with respect to said continuously arcuate section of said curved portion of said top side; and
a second mating member being coupled to said tab, said second mating member being matable to said first mating member wherein each of said first mating member and said second mating member are configured to close said neck opening around the patron's neck, said second mating member being positioned on said first surface of said tab, said second mating member being positioned adjacent to said distal end of said tab, said second mating member being comprised of an adhesive material, said second mating member being comprised of a biodegradable material.
