(2) Description of Related Art Including Information Disclosed Under 37 CFR 1.97 and 1.98

The prior art relates to body pillow devices. Existing devices include pillows of various shapes for both the body and head. These devices are typically designed to be in front of the user's body and lack an arcuate top side shape to support the user's back in a side sleeping position. These devices also lack a tail to place between the user's legs.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

An embodiment of the disclosure meets the needs presented above by generally comprising a pillow body having a body front side, a body back side, a body top side, and a body bottom side. The body bottom side is planar and the body top side is arcuate and configured to rest against the user's back. A cover is coupled to the pillow body. The cover is selectively engageable with the pillow body to cover the body front side, the body back side, the body top side, and the body bottom side. A first attachment member is coupled to the cover. The first attachment member is coupled adjacent to the body back side. A tail has a tail proximal end and a tail distal end. The tail is configured to rest between the user's knees. A second attachment member is coupled to the tail. The second attachment member is coupled to the tail proximal end and is selectively engageable with the first attachment member.

There has thus been outlined, rather broadly, the more important features of the disclosure in order that the detailed description thereof that follows may be better understood, and in order that the present contribution to the art may be better appreciated. There are additional features of the disclosure that will be described hereinafter and which will form the subject matter of the claims appended hereto.

The objects of the disclosure, along with the various features of novelty which characterize the disclosure, are pointed out with particularity in the claims annexed to and forming a part of this disclosure.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF SEVERAL VIEWS OF THE DRAWING(S)

The disclosure will be better understood and objects other than those set forth above will become apparent when consideration is given to the following detailed description thereof. Such description makes reference to the annexed drawings wherein:

FIG. 1 is an isometric view of a body pillow with attachable tail apparatus according to an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 2 is a front elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 3 is a rear elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 4 is a side elevation view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 5 is a bottom plan view of an embodiment of the disclosure.

FIG. 6 is a cross-sectional view of an embodiment of the disclosure along the line 6-6 of FIG. 4.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION

With reference now to the drawings, and in particular to FIGS. 1 through 6 thereof, a new body pillow device embodying the principles and concepts of an embodiment of the disclosure and generally designated by the reference numeral 10 will be described.

As best illustrated in FIGS. 1 through 6, the body pillow with attachable tail apparatus 10 generally comprises a pillow body 12 having a body front side 14, a body back side 16, a body top side 18, and a body bottom side 20. The body bottom side 20 is planar. The body top side 18 is arcuate and configured to rest against the user's back. The body top side 18 may be parabolic and is shaped to comfortably support the user in a side sleeping position. The pillow body 12 may include an inner core portion 22 and an outer fill portion 24. The inner core portion 22 may be cylindrical and may be a high density foam to maintain shape and support. The outer fill portion 24 may be a feather or polyester fill.

A cover 26 is coupled to the pillow body 12. The cover 26 is selectively engageable with the pillow body 12 to cover the body front side 14, the body back side 16, the body top side 18, and the body bottom side 20. The cover 26 may have a cover flap portion 28 positioned adjacent the body bottom side 20. The cover flap portion 28 has a cover engagement member 30 to selectively open and allow removal of the cover 26 from the pillow body 12. The cover engagement member 30 may be a zipper as shown in FIG. 5. The cover 26 may be an assortment of materials and patterns and may be removed for cleaning or to be changed.

A first attachment member 32 is coupled to the cover 26. The first attachment member 32 is coupled adjacent to the body back side 16. A tail 34 has a tail proximal end 36 and a tail distal end 38. The tail 34 is configured to rest between the user's knees for comfort and to prevent rubbing. The tail 34 may be covered in a faux fur 40. A second attachment member 42 is coupled to the tail 34. The second attachment member 42 is coupled to the tail proximal end 36 and is selectively engageable with the first attachment member 32. Each of the first attachment member 32 and the second attachment member 42 may be selectively engageable fasteners such as, but not limited to, hook-and-loop, buttons, snaps, and the like.

In use, the pillow body 12 is placed behind the user's back in a side sleeping position. The tail 34 is attached when desired using the first attachment member 32 and the second attachment member 42. The user may then comfortably side sleep to prevent facial wrinkles.

With respect to the above description then, it is to be realized that the optimum dimensional relationships for the parts of an embodiment enabled by the disclosure, to include variations in size, materials, shape, form, function and manner of operation, assembly and use, are deemed readily apparent and obvious to one skilled in the art, and all equivalent relationships to those illustrated in the drawings and described in the specification are intended to be encompassed by an embodiment of the disclosure.

Therefore, the foregoing is considered as illustrative only of the principles of the disclosure. Further, since numerous modifications and changes will readily occur to those skilled in the art, it is not desired to limit the disclosure to the exact construction and operation shown and described, and accordingly, all suitable modifications and equivalents may be resorted to, falling within the scope of the disclosure. In this patent document, the word “comprising” is used in its non-limiting sense to mean that items following the word are included, but items not specifically mentioned are not excluded. A reference to an element by the indefinite article “a” does not exclude the possibility that more than one of the element is present, unless the context clearly requires that there be only one of the elements.
