According to embodiments, one or both of said fourth and fifth furniture frame panels may be free from furniture foot attachment interfaces. Thereby, an attractive exterior of the storage furniture may be conveniently obtained.

According to embodiments, the storage furniture assembly may further comprise a storage space divider assembly comprising a first storage space divider panel configured to be attached to respective divider connection interfaces of mutually opposing inside faces of a first divider carrier panel and a second divider carrier panel of said set of furniture frame panels, to divide the storage space defined by the storage compartment into a first storage subspace and a second storage subspace. The first storage space divider panel may be positioned in such a manner that it will extend along differently oriented planes depending on the orientation of the storage furniture. Thereby, depending on the orientation of the storage furniture, said first storage space divider panel may operate as e.g. a shelf, a book support on a shelf, or a tray divider. The first and second divider carrier panels may be defined by the second pair of mutually parallel furniture frame panels described hereinabove. The divider connection interfaces may be positioned at a distance from any furniture foot attachment interfaces of the first and/or second divider carrier panels. For example, it may be beneficial to arrange any furniture foot attachment interfaces of the first and/or second divider carrier panels adjacent to the respective corners of the first and second divider carrier panels, whereas it may be beneficial to have any divider connection interfaces positioned on the divider carrier panels such that the first storage space divider panel divides the storage space of the storage compartment into the first and second storage subspaces in respective storage volumes of the same order of magnitude. Hence, according to embodiments, a storage volume of the first storage subspace may be of the same order of magnitude as a storage volume of the second storage subspace.

According to embodiments, a storage volume of the first storage subspace is different from a storage volume of the second storage subspace. This increases the versatility of the storage furniture.

The first storage space divider panel may extend along a first divider panel plane. According to embodiments, the divider connection interfaces of the first and second divider carrier panels may be configured to lock the first storage space divider panel against movement perpendicular to the first divider panel plane. Distal edges 48b, 48c, 48d, 48e of the second, third, fourth and fifth furniture frame panels 10b, 10c, 10d, 10e, opposite to the respective proximal edges 46b-e, define a storage compartment access opening 43 through which the storage compartment 42 can be reached.

Now with reference to FIG. 3B, the set of connectors further comprises a set of screws 50. The furniture frame panels 10a-10e are secured to each other by means of screws 50 which, at each panel joint interface between two adjacent furniture frame panels 10a-e, penetrate through one of the mutually interfacing panels and are threadedly secured into the edge of the other of the mutually interfacing furniture frame panels 10a-e. At each panel joint interface, the screws 50 penetrate into said other of the mutually interfacing furniture frame panels 10a-e in a penetration direction along the respective panel plane, to be anchored in said panel. For each screw 50, pairs of coinciding screw holes 52a, 52b (the latter illustrated in FIG. 3A) are arranged in the respective pairs of interfacing panels.

FIG. 3C illustrates the attachment of a first pair of storage space divider guide rails comprising a first storage space divider guide rail 34a and a second storage space divider guide rail 34b to the inner faces of the fifth and third furniture frame panels 10e, 10c. The first and second storage space divider guide rails 34a, 34b are of the type illustrated with reference sign 34 in FIG. 2. As illustrated in the magnified portion of FIG. 3C, the inner faces of the fifth and third furniture frame panels 10e, 10c are provided with pairs of blind holes 54, and the free ends 33, 35 of each storage space divider guide rail 34a, 34b are inserted in respective blind holes 54 such that the respective guide rails 34a, 34b extend in a direction perpendicular to the first panel plane P1 (FIG. 3A). Thereafter, and now with reference to FIG. 3D, the first storage space divider panel 18a is slid onto the first pair of storage space divider guide rails 34a, 34b (FIG. 3C) in such a manner that the first and second storage space divider guide rails 34a, 34b are received in the respective opposite guide tracks 22 of the first storage space divider panel 18a. The first storage space divider panel 18a extends along a first divider panel plane P4, and the guide tracks 22 of the first storage space divider panel 18a also extend, and guide the first storage space divider panel 18a, along the first divider panel plane P4. Referring back to the view of FIG. 2, each storage space divider guide rail 34 comprises, at an intermediate position between the first and second ends 33, 35, a resilient protrusion 56. When the first storage space divider panel 18a reaches an end position, firmly seated against the bottom panel 10a (FIG. 3A), the protrusion clicks into a seat 58 at an intermediate position along the respective guide track 22, thereby locking the first storage space divider panel 18a in the inserted position illustrated in FIG. 3E. The first storage space divider panel is held by the third and fifth furniture frame panels 10c, 10e, which furniture frame panels 10c, 10e thereby operate as a first pair of divider carrier panels, wherein the storage space divider guide rails 34a, 34b operate as divider connection interfaces of the divider carrier panels 10c, 10e. The first storage space divider panel 18a divides the storage space defined by the storage compartment 42 into a first storage subspace 42a and a second storage subspace 42b. Once having reached the position illustrated in FIG. 3E, the engagement between the guide rails 34a, 34b (FIG. 3C) and the guide tracks 22 (FIG. 3D) of the first storage space divider panel 18a locks the first storage space divider panel 18a against movement in either direction perpendicular to the first divider panel plane P4. Thereby, the storage furniture may be re-oriented without re-positioning or loss of the first storage space divider panel 18a.

After having attached the first storage space divider panel 18a within the storage space 42, and as illustrated in the view of FIG. 3E, a second pair of storage space divider guide rails comprising a third storage space divider guide rail 34c, and a fourth storage space divider guide rail 34d, are attached to mutually opposing faces of the second furniture frame panel 10b and the first storage space divider panel 18a, such that the second furniture frame panel 10b is enabled to operate as a third divider carrier panel, and the first storage space divider panel 18a is enabled to operate as a fourth divider carrier panel.

Also the third and fourth storage space divider guide rails 34c, 34d are of the type illustrated with reference sign 34 in FIG. 2. As illustrated in the magnified portion of FIG. 3E, the mutually opposing faces of the second furniture frame panels 10b and the first divider panel 18a are provided with respective pairs of blind holes 54, and the free ends 33, 35 (FIG. 2) of each storage space divider guide rail 34c, 34d are inserted in respective blind holes 54 such that the respective storage space divider guide rails 34c, 34d extend in a direction perpendicular to the first panel plane P1 (FIG. 3A). Thereafter, and now with reference to FIG. 3F, the second storage space divider panel 18b is slid onto the second pair of storage space divider guide rails 34c, 34d in such a manner that the third and fourth storage space divider guide rails 34c, 34d are received in the respective opposite guide tracks 22 of the second storage space divider panel 18b. The second storage space divider panel 18b extends along a second divider panel plane P5, and the guide tracks 22 of the second storage space divider panel 18b also extend, and guide the second storage space divider panel 18b, along the second divider panel plane P5. Again, once the second storage space divider panel 18b reaches an end position, firmly seated against the bottom panel 10a (FIG. 3A), respective protrusions 56 (FIG. 2) of the storage space divider guide rails 34c, 34d click into respective seats 58 of the guide tracks 22. As is apparent from the view of FIG. 3G, once inserted, the second storage space divider panel 18b divides the second storage subspace 42b (FIG. 3F) into a third storage subspace 42c and a fourth storage subspace 42d, and the second storage space divider panel 18b extends along the second divider panel plane P5 which is perpendicular to the first storage space divider plane P4. Once the storage furniture 60 has been assembled, the three frame panel planes P1, P2, P3 (FIG. 3A) are mutually orthogonal, whereas the first divider panel plane P4 is parallel to the second frame panel plane P2, and the second divider panel plane P5 is parallel to the third frame panel plane P3.

The storage furniture 60 thus assembled has sets of furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16, 17 (FIG. 1) on three mutually orthogonal faces, namely the first furniture frame panel 10a (FIG. 3A), the second furniture frame panel 10b, which has a relatively smaller area and less elongate shape, and the third furniture frame panel 10c, which has a relatively larger area and more elongate shape than the second furniture frame panel 10b. The fourth and fifth furniture frame panels 10d, 10e are free from furniture foot attachment interfaces. By attaching the set of furniture feet 26 (FIG. 2) to the foot attachment interfaces 15 of the first furniture frame panel, i.e. the bottom wall 10a (FIG. 3A), the storage furniture may be used as a storage tray 60a with the storage compartment access opening 43 facing upwards, as is illustrated in FIG. 4A. By attaching the furniture feet 26 to the foot attachment interfaces 16 (FIG. 1A) of the second furniture frame panel 10b, or to the foot attachment interfaces 17 (FIG. 1A) of the third furniture frame panel 10c, the storage furniture may be used as a storage cabinet or shelf 60b, 60c having the storage compartment access opening 43 on a lateral side, as is illustrated in FIGS. 4B and 4C. The furniture access opening 43 may also be provided with a door (not illustrated). By attaching the furniture feet 26 to the second furniture frame panel 10b, a storage cabinet 60b (FIG. 4B) of relatively higher height and relatively smaller footprint is obtained. By attaching the furniture feet 26 to the third furniture frame panel 10c, a storage cabinet 60c (FIG. 4C) of relatively lower height and relatively larger footprint is obtained, wherein said relatively lower height (FIG. 4C) is lower than said relatively higher height (FIG. 4B), and said relatively larger footprint (FIG. 4C) is larger than said relatively smaller footprint (FIG. 4B). Moreover, the layout and function of the storage space dividers 18a, 18b differs between the three different pieces of storage furniture 60a, 60b, 60c obtainable; for example, the storage furniture 60c of FIG. 4C defines two shelves of relatively larger horizontal width and lower height and one shelf of relatively smaller horizontal width and higher height, whereas the storage furniture 60b of FIG. 4B defines two shelves of relatively smaller horizontal width and higher height, and one shelf of relatively larger horizontal width and lower height. In the storage furniture 60a of FIG. 4A, the storage subspaces 42a, 42c, 42d defined by the storage space dividers 18a, 18b are mutually similar in shape and function, and may each be used as e.g. a tray for books or vinyl records. As a further option the storage space dividers 18a, 18b could be removed or omitted, in particular in the storage furniture 60a of FIG. 4A, resulting in a single large compartment 42.

FIGS. 5A and 5B illustrate the attachment of the furniture feet 26 to the third set of furniture foot attachment interfaces 17a-17d (FIG. 1A) on the third furniture frame panel 10c (FIG. 1A). It will be appreciated that the furniture feet 26 may alternatively be attached to either one of the alternate sets of furniture foot attachment interfaces, i.e. the furniture foot attachment interfaces 15 and 16 of the first and second furniture frame panels 10a, 10b, in the same manner, mutatis mutandis.

Starting with FIG. 5A, the foot attachment screws 30 are inserted in respective foot support sleeves 28 by screwing them together. Now with reference to FIG. 5B, each furniture foot attachment interface 17a, 17b, 17c, 17d of the third set of furniture foot attachment interfaces 17 comprises a respective foot-attachment through-hole 62 through the third furniture frame panel 10c. As illustrated in the magnified view of the second foot attachment interface 17b, a foot attachment screw 30 assembled with a respective foot support sleeve 28 is inserted through the respective foot-attachment through-hole 62 from the inside of the storage compartment 42, and screwed into a mating thread in the screw hole 32 of the respective furniture foot 26. The outer mantle face of the sleeve body 28a of the foot support sleeve 28 is received in the foot-attachment through-hole 62 with a tight fit such that, when the foot attachment screw 30 is threaded into the respective furniture foot 26, the support collar 28b comes to rest against the inner face of the third furniture frame panel 10c. The remaining three furniture feet 26 are connected to the remaining three furniture foot attachment interfaces 17a, 17c, 17d of the third furniture frame panel 10c in the same manner.

Now referring to FIGS. 6A and 6B, the furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16 which are not used for attaching the furniture feet 26, i.e. the furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16 of the first and second furniture frame panels 10a, 10b, are covered by the furniture foot attachment interface covers 36 (FIG. 2) and the hanger 38. Starting with FIG. 6A, the hanger 38 is attached to an upper furniture foot attachment interface 16a of a respective set of furniture foot attachment interfaces 16, adjacent to the storage compartment access opening 43. The hanger 38 is attached by inserting the panel connection interface 38b of the hanger 38, which is configured an insert body, into the foot-attachment through-hole 62 of the furniture foot attachment interface 16a from the outside. The size and shape of the panel connection interface 38b of the hanger 38 coincide with the size and shape of the foot-attachment through-hole 62, to obtain a tight fit. Thereafter, the hanger 38 is firmly secured to the foot attachment interface 16a by attaching a screw connector 40 to the panel connection interface 38b from the inside of the storage compartment 42.

FIG. 6B illustrates how the remaining furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16, which are not used for attaching either furniture feet 26 or a hanger 38, are covered by the set of furniture foot attachment interface covers 36. Each furniture foot attachment interface cover 36 is attached to a respective furniture foot attachment interface 15, 16 by inserting the panel connection interface 36b of the furniture foot attachment interface cover 36, which panel connection interface 36b is configured an insert body, into the foot-attachment through-hole 62 of a respective furniture foot attachment interface 15, 16 from the outside. This is illustrated in detail in a magnified view of one of the furniture foot attachment interfaces 16b of the second furniture frame panel 10b. Again, the size and shape of the panel connection interfaces 36b of the furniture foot attachment interface covers 36 coincide with the size and shape of the respective foot-attachment through-holes 62 to obtain a tight fit. Thereafter, the furniture foot attachment interface covers 36 are firmly secured to the respective furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16 by attaching screw connectors 40 to the respective panel connection interfaces 36b from the inside of the storage compartment 42, such that the respective cover trims 36a are brought into abutment with the outside faces of the respective furniture frame panels 10a, 10b at the respective furniture foot attachment interfaces 15, 16.

The invention has mainly been described above with reference to a few embodiments. However, as is readily appreciated by a person skilled in the art, other embodiments than the ones disclosed above are equally possible within the scope of the invention, as defined by the appended patent claims. For example, the furniture frame panels need not be rectangular; they can have any other suitable shape. Moreover, the furniture frame panels do not need to be connected to each other at right angles; they can be connected to each other at acute or obtuse angles alike. Hence, the storage furniture need not be cuboidal; the teachings herein are applicable also to storage furniture of other shapes, such as triangular, rhomboidal, tetrahedral, etc. The furniture foot attachment interfaces do not need to be configured as through-holes; alternatively, they can be configured as e.g. threaded blind-holes accessible from the outside of the respective panels.

In the claims, the word “comprising” does not exclude other elements or steps, and the indefinite article “a” or “an” does not exclude a plurality.
