Description
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of Cistus which was discovered as a natural mutation in a controlled planting of the variety Cistus `Peggy Sammons`. The varietal denomination of this new plant is `Hedso`.

SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

Among the novel characteristics possessed by the new variety which distinguish it from its parent and all other varieties of which I am aware are its attractive sage green foliage with a yellow marginal variegation and abundant display of large flowers in late spring in West Sussex, England.

Asexual reproduction by vegetative cuttings of the new variety as performed in West Sussex, England, shows that the foregoing and other distinguishing characteristics come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding progagations. Other known forms of asexual reproduction may be also used.

COMPARISON WITH PARENT

The parent of the variety, `Peggy Sammons`, has grey-green foliage with no variegation.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATION

The accompanying illustration shows a typical specimen of the vegetative growth and flowers of the new variety depicted in color as nearly true as it is reasonably possible to make the same in a color illustration of this character.
