Description

The present invention relates to a new and distinct hybrid of Heuchera, of the family Saxifragaceae, which originated as a cross between an unpatented, unnamed Heuchera sanguinea seedling (seed parent) and an unpatented Heuchera cylindrica named ‘Greenfinch’ (pollen parent).

This new Heuchera plant is a result of a controlled cross of the aforementioned plants in Canby, Oreg. This hybrid was selected from a large selection of seedlings. Seed and pollen parent plants were retained to observe habit and to compare with the instant plant. The new variety has been reproduced only by asexual propagation (division and tissue culture). Each of the progeny exhibits identical characteristics to the original plant.

This plant is characterized by the following:

1. Large pink flowers.

2. Dwarf form.

3. Green foliage mottled with silver.

Asexual propagation by division and tissue culture as done in Canby, Oreg., shows that the foregoing characteristics and distinctions come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.

DESCRIPTION OF PARENT PLANTS

The instant plant resulted from a cross between a Heuchera sanguinea seedling and Heuchera cylindica ‘Greenfinch’. The Heuchera Sanguinen seedling was selected as a parent plant for its dwarf habit and cerise-colored flowers. The instant plant differs from the Heuchera sanguinea seedling in having substantially larger flowers and leaves mottled with silver. Heuchera cylindrica ‘Greenfinch’ was selected for its large flowers and silver-mottled leaves. The instant plant differs from Heuchera cylindrica ‘Greenfinch’ in having larger flowers, red versus tawny-green flowers, and leaves that display a greater degree of mottling.

Claims
