Description

Genus and species: Rosa hybrida.

Variety denomination: ‘JACboupu’.

ORIGIN OF THE INVENTION

The present invention relates to a new and distinct variety of a Floribunda rose plant named ‘JACboupu’ which was originated by me by crossing the variety ‘JACzotta’, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 12,128 (the seed parent), with the variety ‘JACment’, U.S. Plant Pat. No. 10,282 (the pollen parent).

BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION

The primary objective of this breeding was to produce a new floribunda rose variety having the qualities of a compact rounded plant with disease resistant dark green foliage, brightly colored flowers, rapid repeat bloom and the ability to be propagated and grow vigorously on its own roots.

BRIEF SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION

The objective was substantially achieved, along with other desirable improvements, as evidenced by the following unique combination of characteristics, that are outstanding in the new variety, and that distinguish it from its parents, as well as from all other varieties of which I am aware:

    • 1. A compact rounded plant.
    • 2. Bright pink flowers with a light cream petal reverse.
    • 3. The upper surface of the petals has “handpainting.”
    • 4. Foliage is dark green, glossy and resistant to rust and powdery mildew.
    • 5. Propagates easily and grows vigorously on its own roots.

Asexual reproduction of this new variety by cuttings, as performed at Wasco, Calif., shows that the foregoing and all other characteristics and distinctions come true to form and are established and transmitted through succeeding propagations.

COMPARISON WITH PARENTS

‘JACzotta’: ‘JACboupo’ is more compact, has smaller flowers, and has handpainting in the flowers. ‘JACment’: ‘JACboupo’ differs in flower color and petal count.

COMPARISON WITH SIMILAR VARIETY

‘JAChanpa’ (U.S. Plant Pat. No. 16,705) is similar in flower color to ‘JACboupu’ but much taller.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE ILLUSTRATION

The accompanying illustration shows typical specimens of the vegetative growth and flowers of this new variety in different stages of development, depicted in color as nearly true as it is reasonably possible to make the same in a color illustration of this character.
