Abstract: This invention relates to a novel Kalanchoe having fast but compact growth and relatively large, bright red flowers which are produced over a period of up to 2 months.
Abstract: This invention relates to a mutation of the Feuerwerk Kalanchoe, differing therefrom by having a more distinct flower color, larger and more distinct foliage, and better overall growth qualities.
Abstract: A windshield assembly for a curved windshield, including a pressure distributing superstructure having claws adapted to engage a blade structure at longitudinally spaced positions, together with a blade structure including a flexible holder having a pair of laterally opening slots for receiving the claws of the superstructure, and a longitudinal retention chamber receiving an enlarged retention bead along the upper edge of a resilient wiping element.
Abstract: Apparatus for separating and/or counting individual ones of a plurality of substantially similarly shaped particles, elements, grains, or the like, such as grains of seed, pills, etc., and including a hollow rotating drum, constructed to have plural, inwardly tapering indentations, terminating in a bore open to the interior of the drum and having at the bottom of the indentation dimensions smaller than the particles so that the particles cannot traverse the bore, the indentations being wider than the particles at the surface of the drum, the indentation dimensioned to hold at least one particle each. A nozzle directs an air jet towards the drum at direction and position so that the air strikes along the leading wall portion of the closest indentation as the drum rotates. Particles are fed towards the drum, so that at least one particle is in each indentation as it passes the jet.
Abstract: A system of protecting pipes with bell and spigot joints (having metal parts) from corrosion .[.be.]. .Iadd.by .Iaddend.fitting between the spigot and bell at least one dry band of open celled material (preferably reticulated polyurethane foam) having a hydratable cement (preferably Portland cement) impregnated therein and engaging the band between the bell and the spigot. On wetting of the band, the cement is hydrated to form a water impervious hard sealant in the joint which releases alkalinity to protect the metal.
Abstract: A semiconductor laser device includes a narrow elongated semiconductor region of the same conductivity type as another semiconductor region lying in the vicinity of the active region of the laser device. The elongated region extends in depth from the surface of the device to the vicinity of the active region. A surface semiconductor layer of an opposite conductivity type covers the entire surface of the device except for the elongated region.
Abstract: A pin for use in making the reflector includes an elongated .[.snank.]. .Iadd.shank .Iaddend.of regular polygon outline and a cube-corner formation at one end. The cube axis of the cube-corner formation is at an angle other than zero degrees with respect to the pin axis. A group of such pins are assembled into a pin bundle for use in making a mold insert for the reflector.
Abstract: A settler type separating apparatus comprises a tank for holding liquid having inlet and outlet ports; a plurality of horizontally disposed particle-receiving trays superposed parallel on each other at prescribed intervals, each having a plurality of cavities formed on the upper side; and a screen stretched over the upper open side of the cavities of the tray, wherein impure particles trapped in said cavities are obstructed from escaping by a boundary layer formed by the screen.
Abstract: A servosystem for electrical .[.maching.]. .Iadd.machining .Iaddend.processes adapted to regulate a spark-discharge gap in electrodischarge machining and other material-removal, shaping or forming operations in which the energy of an electrical discharge across the gap is exploited. Instead of the usual reference voltage or other electrical value for comparison with a gap parameter whereby the difference or other algebraic comparison controls the electrode drive, a gap detector is provided to feed a substantially continuous .[.(anlog).]. .Iadd.(analog) .Iaddend.value to a discriminator having a threshold value and producing a digital output in accordance with the comparison.
Abstract: A servosystem for electrical machining processes adapted to regulate a spark-discharge gap in electrodischarge machining and other material-removal, shaping or forming operations in which the energy of an electrical discharge across the gap is exploited. Instead of the usual reference voltage or other electrical value for comparison with a gap parameter whereby the difference or other algebraic comparison controls the electrode drive, a gap detector is provided to feed a substantially continuous (analog) value to a discriminator having a threshold value and producing a digital output in accordance with the comparison. The digital output represents an "advance" or a "retract" condition and is communicated via a suitable switch or amplifier to the respective electromagnetic member of the control system, the latter member being a servomotor mechanically coupled with the movable electrode or a fluid-control valve hydraulically or pneumatically coupled with the movable electrode.
Abstract: A direct current power supply for manual arc welding comprising a polyphase transformer, a polyphase rectifier system including triggered rectifier valves, and a control system therefor which comprises means for setting the output current level by adjustment of a reference signal, means providing negative feed-back of the output voltage and the output current, and means for adjusting the slope of the characteristic by adjustment of the proportion between the amounts of feed-back of the voltage and the current. The current level setting means and the slope adjustment means are linked with each other to provide automatically a desired correlation between the slope and the current setting.
Abstract: A digital display doppler radar unit has a moving mode and a stationary mode. The incoming doppler signal, which in the moving mode, represents both speed of the radar platform and speed of an approaching target vehicle, is separated into two signal components by selective filtering. One component represents the sum of the ground speeds for the radar platform and approaching vehicles. A time base is generated by a crystal control means and .[.the time base.]. is utilized for correlating the received doppler signals, indicative of speed, with the time base. Each doppler signal component is converted to binary coded decimal (BCD) information and a digital counter counts the cycles of each received doppler signal and compares the count with an amount previously stored. Circuit means are provided to validate the received doppler signal, allowing their continual processing only after a preselected number of valid comparisons are made.

Abstract: A protective helmet for use by race drivers, police riot squads...etc. incorporates a face shield assembly involving means for overcoming problems of breakage, glare and fogging by associating with a face shield of substantially unbreakable material, coatings or layers of polarized and/or light effecting material treated for fog prevention.
Abstract: This invention provides a contoured wrist support that includes a sheet portion adapted to be wrapped around the wrist, the sheet portion being made up of more than one element having contoured edges stitched together so as to provide it with a three-dimensional shape, the sheet portion having a cushioning lining and pockets for receiving three reinforcing members. One of the reinforcing members is rigid and complementarily overlies the back of the hand and wrist. A second reinforcing member is generally rigid but can be deflected slightly by hand and complementarily overlies the palm of the hand and inside of the wrist. The third reinforcing member, between the first and second reinforcing members, is positioned along the outer side edge of the hand and wrist and made of malleable material so that it can be deflected by the user to assume the contour of his hand and wrist.
