Abstract: A new plant variety of the Acanthus family has plant parts that in size and shape are generally comparable to those of the "Nerve plant" and a leaf blade with the mosaic leaf venation pattern that is characteristic of the "Nerve plant" but which is nevertheless variegated and provided with chlorophyllous areas that are lighter than the chlorophyllous areas of the "Nerve plant", the achlorophyllous areas appearing as blotches or specks that are generally marginally located in the leaf blade.
Abstract: An opto-electronic ignition system for an internal combustion engine in which radiation falls on to and is cut off from a photo-transistor in timed sequence with the engine, and in which between the photo-transistor and the primary winding of the ignition coil there is a plurality of switching Darlington pairs, each Darlington switching in inverse relation to its neighbor, and the first Darlington switching in inverse relation with the photo-transistor. The circuit is designed so that it will reliably operate in engine compartment temperatures above 125.degree. C.
Abstract: Elements are supplied to a work station with the elements being arranged in a row. The elements are releasably retained at the work station. The articles to which the elements are to be transferred are moved through the work station with the row of elements at the work station extending in the same direction as the direction of article movement. Each of the elements is transferred to an associated article as the articles are moved through the work station. The elements are sequentially transferred with the most downstream element always being the next element to be transferred.

Abstract: Quaternary ammonium salts act as phase transfer catalysts when present in reactions of alkoxycarbonylcyanamide with di-C.sub.1-3 alkyl sulfate.
Abstract: This disclosure has to do with the stiffening of clothing components, such as collars, cuffs, etc. which, in the past, has been effected by means of separately formed stiffening elements. In lieu of providing a separately formed stiffening element which must be separately incorporated within the clothing part, it is proposed to provide a component of the clothing part with a coating of thermoplastics material which is applied in a preselected pattern to provide the desired stiffness. This eliminates the necessity of separately formed elements which, in turn, eliminates the necessity of maintaining a supply of such elements and the separate incorporation thereof in a clothing part.
Abstract: An athletic glove comprises a glove body having a substantially planar configuration and which is adapted to be wrapped about the hand, wrist, and arm portions of an arm extremity. First and second rigid brace members are disposed within pockets formed within the glove body for engaging the interior, palm-side of the extremity portions, as well as the exterior, back side of the extremity portions. The two braces operatively cooperate to rigidify the extremity wrist whereby when the extremity undergoes a particular movement, the hand, wrist, and arm portions thereof move in unison. The second brace member may be bent at a central portion thereof in order to fix the disposition of the wrist at a predetermined inclination, and padded fabric may be secured to the interior surface of the glove body for wearing comfort purposes.
Abstract: Footwear comprising socks or stockings are woven of a synthetic resin yarn in which activated charcoal is present in powder and small particle form in sufficient quantities to deoderize foot odors that may be present when the socks or stockings are worn.
Abstract: An implant prosthesis for surgically by-passing the distal portion of the natural urethral tract for the removal of biological liquids, especially urine, consists of one or more artificial ureters disposed in a conical sheath connected with flexible tubing joining a tank forming a bladder replacement which in turn is connected by flexible tubing to the urethra when retained or extends to provide a controlled valved vent at the surface of a patient's body in which the prosthesis is surgically implanted, as for example following the removal of bladder cancer and its associated damaged distal urinary system.
