Abstract: The method of molding flexible, collapsible containers comprises extruding a tubular parison of material to be molded and sealing the outer, free end of the parison; ballooning the parison with relatively low pneumatic pressure; closing the mold about the ballooned parison to cause the edges of the parison to protrude out of the mold chamber; and sealing said parison to form said container, including the step of forming seal lines positioned laterally inwardly from the lateral edges of the parison. A novel container design is also covered.

Abstract: A single facer for manufacturing single-faced corrugated board having a first corrugating roll and a second corrugating roll meshing with the first corrugating roll to form a nip for receiving a sheet medium to corrugate the same, the second corrugating roll being provided with radial conduits extending toward its periphery through which suction is applied for attracting and holding the corrugated medium onto the peripheral surface thereof. The outer ends of the conduits terminate in the bottoms of axially spaced circumferential grooves formed around the periphery of the second corrugating roll. Finger-like plates engage within the circumferential grooves to seal at least some of the conduits disposed in the portion of the second corrugating roll which is not lapped by the corrugated medium.

Abstract: The protective garment of the present invention primarily for use as protective athletic equipment includes protective gear for the shoulders, ribs, biceps, forearms, thighs, knees and shins. The protective garment is generally composed of variable pressure pads, air cushions, and/or shields. The variable pressure pad includes two superimposed plies of a light-weight, non-elastic fluid-impervious fabric material having the adjacent surfaces of the material sealed around the periphery to form a pressure tight inflatable garment which does not distend and other adjacent surfaces sealed at regions internally of the periphery to define a plurality of fluid chambers and fluid passageways. The internal fluid chambers are fluidly communicable with adjacent fluid chambers by means of the fluid passageways. The material crinkles and folds over at preselected regions to constrict fluid communication between the fluid chambers as an external force is applied to the variable pressure pads.
Abstract: The disclosure is of a poncho for human use having an enclosed area at the center of the rear panel which may be inflated to form a cushion on which the wearer sits.
Abstract: A garrison cap having a crown portion and an outer band portion attached together at the lower margin of the crown portion. Both the crown portion and the outer band portion are composed of a multiple ply laminated material including an outer ply of textile suiting material and an inner ply of nylon tricot textile material with the two textile materials being securely bonded together by a polyester foam.
Abstract: A garment including a modesty panel is described which is designed for patients of hospitals or nursing homes. The garment comprises first and second garment portions which have upper and lower ends and inner and outer side edges. The first and second garment portions are joined at their upper inner side edges to form a body portion which may be wrapped around the person to cover the lower abdomen, thighs and buttocks of the person. The lower ends of the first and second garment portions have ankle receiving portions adapted to receive the ankles of the person. The garment portions have a width sufficient, between the body portion and the ankle receiving portions, to enable the first and second garment portions to be wrapped around the person's legs. A foldable modesty panel is provided at the juncture of the upper inner side edges of the garment portions. The modesty panel extends downwardly from the body portion and covers the person's genital area whether the person is standing, sitting or reclining.
Abstract: A motorcycle helmet having a modified exterior configuration to attenuate noise generated when passing through the air. The modified helmet begins flaring outwardly from the traditional helmet configuration at a point adjacent to the chin of the wearer, terminates at a location generally behind the ear of the wearer and is spaced from the exterior shell of the helmet at the central portion of the rearward edge. The trailing edge of the sound attentuating device is open so that the wearer retains the ability to hear noises from behind and beside him.
Abstract: Shock absorbing mounts for the face guard of a helmet having a substantially rigid shell and being connected to the shell allow substantial movements of the face guard relative to the helmet shell in response to forceful blows on the face guard. The mount protects the head of the wearer of the helmet from severe shocks and also prevents severe deformation of the helmet shell likely to crack it. The mount can be installed at all points of attachment of the face guard to the helmet to provide a resilient anchorage for the face guard without loss of security.
Abstract: An intraocular lens for use as an artificial lens implant anteriorly of the iris which has at least a pair of position fixation elements providing a multi-point support for the lens. The position fixation elements are constructed and arranged for sufficient flexibility to permit a single lens to have the capability of being used as an implant in eyes with anterior chamber diameters of a substantial variety in sizes, thereby minimizing the inventory of lenses necessary to be maintained in operating rooms.
Abstract: A prosthesis includes a knee joint having movable elements geared together and rotatable about axes located rearward of a vertical bearing axis of the prosthesis. A foot member is pivoted about a horizontal ankle joint and is urged by a first spring toward the toe-down position and by a second spring toward the toe-up position. The first spring is stronger than the second spring. A tie rod is connected from the knee joint to the first spring to reduce the force applied by the first spring so that, when the knee joint is bent and the foot is raised from the ground to move the prosthesis forward to a straight-knee position, the toe of the foot is raised to clear the ground. The axis of the knee, being in a position aft of the vertical axis, tends to stably support the leg when it is in its weight-bearing position.
Abstract: A portable sink attachment comprising a hollow elbow-shaped member having an opening at either end. The opening at the upper end is adapted to receive the hollow extension projecting from the bottom of a curved receptacle having a wide mouth and tapering down to this extension. The lower end of the elbow-shaped member is connected to a sealing member which is provided with a seat and a vertically descending section. The vertically descending section fits snugly within the opening of a gasket which is attached to the sealing member, with the gasket resting firmly against the seat provided on the sealing member.
Abstract: Dispensing apparatus for dispensing bleach or detergent into a toilet tank or the like on a controlled basis. The dispensing apparatus comprises a dispenser immersed in the tank water, the dispenser being subdivided into two approximately equal volume chambers, one for containing the bleach and the other for the combination of a dye with a detergent. The internal structure is such that a metered dose of a liquid solution formed from a block or cake of detergent or bleach is automatically dispensed each time the flushing of the toilet tank takes place.
Abstract: A topical washing device is utilized to clean a predetermined body portion of a user. The device includes a washing nozzle for discharging washing water and a water feed line connecting the washing nozzle to a source of water. A heat exchanger, heater, temperature sensor, heat-sensitive safety switch, and controller are provided to control the temperature of water which is discharged. By using the device, water will be discharged from the device which is always comfortable to a user, even after the device has not been used for relatively long periods and when water supplied to the device varies in temperature.
Abstract: An envelope for a bed with side rails, comprised of an enveloping portion for enveloping the side rails, and a flap positionable between a mattress and mattress support and securable to the latter, to maintain the mattress in bed alignment and close off any gap between a side rail and the mattress or mattress support, and thereby prevent injury to a bed occupant.
Abstract: A bed which is movable between a horizontal open position and a vertical closed position wherein a counterbalancing mechanism comprising two levers and gas springs are placed at the foot of the bed in order to provide a lifting moment for help in closing the bed and a gravitational restraint when opening the bed.
Abstract: The disclosure is of a beach mat for human use comprising a center section which may be adjusted to provide a surface on which the body may rest in a reclining or sitting position and which has bottom and head end parts. The bottom end part has side panels which may be folded under the center section to permit rigid maintenance of an upward fold in part of the center section, and the head end part has side panels pivotally connected to the center section which may be folded rearwardly from the center section to support the head end part of the center section in raised position for head and back support.
Abstract: A liquid-sealed envelope contains a core of resilient urethane foam saturated with water, all air having been expelled therefrom. This assembly is enclosed within an outer casing of a resilient material to which the envelope is glued.
