  • Patent number: 4776076
Abstract: A method of fabricating a rotor hub of a fully articulated helicoper rotor system, the rotor hub including a central portion and at least two pairs of lug arms extending therefrom, according to which composite material is dispensed onto the mandrel and wound about a pair of lug arms and an associated part of the central portion of the mandrel to form a continuous closed loop of the composite material to a desired width and thickness. The winding is repeated for each pair of lug arms and its associated part of the central portion of the mandrel so that as many loops of composite material are formed as there are lug pairs. The finally assembled loops are cured to structuralize the loops.

  • Patent number: 4776078
Abstract: A tool for use in combination with an annular roll fixed on the end of a shaft by means of a sleeve axially inserted in wedged engagement therebetween. The tool includes a hydraulically actuated piston-cylinder assembly having an axially extending mounting stem which is adapted to be received in detachably interlocked engagement within an axial blind bore in the end of the shaft. The cylinder is rotatable on the stem to adjust the tool between sleeve removal and sleeve inserting positions. When in the sleeve removal position, the piston bears against the shaft end and the cylinder engages and removes the sleeve. When in the sleeve insertion position, the cylinder is checked against a stop on the mounting stem and the piston urges the sleeve into wedged engagement between the roll and the shaft.

  • Patent number: 4776080
Abstract: A workpiece carrier and positioning system determines the particular orientation of each workpiece upon an individually identifiable carrier or frame to which it has been affixed. The carriers themselves are precisely registered at each workstation where an operation is to be performed upon the workpiece. Once registered at a workstation the carrier's identification is determined and the carrier or the operational tool of the workstation is offset and/or rotated as needed, according to the determined particular orientation of the workpiece, to allow precise alignment of the workpiece with the operation to be performed. The offset and/or rotation needed is individually determined for each workpiece at each workstation on the basis of the original particular orientation of each workpiece upon its individual carrier. A table is maintained that associates with each carrier the particular orientation of the workpiece carried thereon.

  • Patent number: 4776088
Abstract: Surface mounted electrical components are typically assembled on printed wiring boards by automatic machines. It is important that the machines accurately move with respect to both X and Y rotational axes in order to insure that components are positioned precisely on connector pads of the printed wiring board being assembled. In accordance with the instant invention, a gauge is used to facilitate convenient accuracy checks. The gauge is a glass substrate on which grids of 0.005 inch lines are scribed to form location and orientation fields where components are to be placed. The grids are referenced from either fiducial marks or the edge of the substrate to establish known positions within the grids. The equipment to be evaluated is programmed to place components in known positions and the components are held in place by tacky adhesive that is sprayed on the substrate prior to placing the components.

  • Patent number: 4776112
Abstract: A sludge pond vehicle, for use with an onshore waste processor, includes a frame to which a pair of elongate, generally cylindrical pontoons and a trash pump are mounted. Each pontoon has a spiral flight about its outer surface and each is individually driven about its own axis so to propel the vehicle through a sludge pond. The frame includes pivotal support arms at each end between which the elongate pontoons are mounted. Pivoting the support arms relative to one another causes the pontoons to separate and approach each other thus raising and lowering the trash pump. High pressure hot water is sprayed into the sludge pond in the region of the trash pump to aid removal of the sludge. The various power and control lines are carried by an overhead boom pivotally mounted to the frame. The boom can pivot freely over an arc of about 270.degree. to permit relatively unrestricted movement of the sludge pond vehicle.

Abstract: A unitary digging tooth is removably mounted to an excavating machine. The tooth has a cutting face formed at a working end which is opposed to a trailing end thereof. An upper end of the tooth is removably attached to the excavating machine. A plurality of discrete teeth are made integral with and extend forward of the cutting edge. The upper marginal end of the tooth is relatively flat, and the lower marginal end of the tooth is a segment of a cone, and therefore curves when viewed in lateral cross-section. The individual teeth are spaced apart, and arranged parallel to one another, and form part of a digging face at the forward end of the tooth. The tooth is oriented in a vertical plane.

Abstract: A display device for displaying an image by forming same in a space includes a concave mirror having a reflecting mirror surface of a dark color and a luminous screen for displaying a picture thereon. Light is prevented by a light shielding structure from falling in around the luminous screen. The concave mirror and the luminous screen are arranged such that light from the luminous screen will be reflected by the concave mirror to form the real image of the picture on the luminous screen in front of the concave mirror. The display device can produce visual effects of much interest and is highly effective in many applications such as display and advertisement of products for sale.

Abstract: In a display device employable for telephone or the like electric appliance, a light permeable member with information carried thereon includes a first reflective portion at which a light beam emitted from a light source is reflected in the light permeable member in the radial direction relative to the optical axis of light beam from the light source and a second reflective portion at which a part of the reflected light beam moving in the light permeable member in the direction away from the information is reflected again to be transmitted to the latter. The information on the light permeable member can be clearly recognized by an user with the aid of the light beam which has been collected around the information after reflection at the first and second reflective portions.

  • Patent number: 4776123
Abstract: A safety device for use with a gun of a type which fires a conventional cartridge casing having an annular rim portion which cooperates with an ejector mechanism of the gun to unload the cartridges. The safety device includes a body portion having a neck portion extending from one end and a rear portion at an other end. The plug is inserted into a firing chamber of a gun with the neck portion extending into a bore of a barrel of a gun. The neck portion has a diameter slightly greater than the inner diameter of the bore to provide a press fit. The rear portion of the plug has a cylindrical portion having a diameter less than the diameter of the annular rim portion of a suitable cartridge casing such that the ejector mechanism of the gun cannot engage and eject the plug from the firing chamber. The plug is, thus, fixedly inserted into the firing chamber of the gun so that the gun cannot be accidentally loaded or fired.
