  • Patent number: 5101528
Abstract: The speed of rotation of a side wall roughing tool (250) can be varied in accordances with the speed of relative movement between the tool (250) and side wall portions of the shoe being roughed (the traverse speed of the tool). To this end, a flow control arrangement (F) is provided including a plurality of flow control valves (CV1, CV2), the arrangement being such that, with the rate of flow through each such valve set, the operator can select one or other to be switched into the hydraulic circuit by which a hydraulic motor (232) is driven, said motor effecting rotation of the tool. The selection of one or other flow control valve (CV1, CV2) is made by the operator during the digitishing of the path of the tool relative to the shoe and such information is stored together with the programmed instruction, in the form of digitised corrdiante axis values, for said path.

  • Patent number: 5101536
Abstract: The wheelchair of the present invention is made of a non-metallic material. The wheelchair is made so that it is easily assembled, light weight, and less expensive than traditional wheelchairs. The wheelchair employs a unique hinge assembly which provides support for the seat, back and foot rest. By using the hinge assembly, the seat, back and foot rest are selfsupporting because the hinge assembly distributes the forces acting upon these members through the side panels. The hinge members are molded integrally with the seat, back and foot panels. Further, when the side panel of the wheelchair is formed, slots are formed therein for receipt of the hinge member. The same is true of the foot rest. The present invention also employs an improved adjusitng mechanism for adjusting the pivotal relationship of the foot rest and an improved brake assembly.

  • Patent number: 5101558
Abstract: A flashback inhibiting fuel fired infrared burner has a housing with a base wall, a side wall section extending outwardly from the base wall periphery, and a side opening positioned opposite the base wall. Retained in and covering the housing side opening is a foranimous burner plate structure. An air-fuel mixture supply pipe extends forwardly into the housing interior through a front end of the side wall section into a rear end portion of the housing interior and has an open outlet end. A discharge end portion of the supply pipe is received in an open front end portion of a flow reversing tube having a closed rear end. The supply pipe and flow reversing tube are laterally shrouded within the housing by an elongated baffle member having outlet openings formed in longitudinally extending front and rear wall portions thereof, the total cross-sectional area of the outlet openings in the front longitudinal wall portion being greater than that of the outlet openings in the rear longitudinal wall portion.

Abstract: Repair of a steam generator tube is performed by crimping a tubular casing (18) in a zone (14) of the tube (12) in which a metallic coating (20) has been produced on the inner surface of the tube, for example by electrolytic deposition. The tubular casing (18) may consist of an attached sleeve (18), crimped in the tube (12). In the case of a tube crimped over only part of the length of the hole passing through the tube plate, the tubular casing may consist of the tube itself on which additional crimping is performed inside the hole which passes through the tube plate.

  • Patent number: 5101560
Abstract: A method for making an anisotropic or predominantly unidirectional wick primarily for use in heat pipes is disclosed unidirectional heat pipe wicks is made by supporting magnetically susceptible particles on a wire screen and moving the screen inside a magnetic field until the characteristic cone or point shapes assumed by the particles are aligned in a laid down orientation. The particles are then heat treated to yield a sintered wick. An example of a wick made with nickel powder demonstrates improved wicking in the direction pointed to by the laid down points. A wick is also made by the spinning pipe-slurry method for making heat pipe wicks. Magnetically susceptible powder is mixed into a viscous binder to make a slurry, then injected inside a rotating cylindrical heat pipe container. A magnetic field is created around the spinning container and varied to align the particles in a desired structure.

  • Patent number: 5101561
Abstract: Disclosed is a heat exchanger assembled of a plurality of oval heat exchanging pipes whose end portions are mounted in a leakage proof manner in oval openings of top and bottom plates. The ratio of maximum and minimum diameters of intermediate portions of the pipes if 2.5:1 through 8:1 whereas the ratio of the maximum and minimum diameters of the oval openings in the end plates is 1.2:1 through 3:1. A method of mounting the pipe end portions in the oval openings is based on a preliminary shaping of the end portions by the application of pressure from the outside toward the center axis of the end portions in the direction of their maximum diameter. The preshaped end portions are inserted into sealing collars surrounding the edges of respective plate openings. Thereafter the end portions are expanded by means of mandrels to sealingly close the openings.

Abstract: A punching tool for producing weep holes in a sill can utilized for window installations is disclosed. The tool has pivotally mounted jaws operable by a handle assembly with a punch formed flush with an end of a first jaw and a die opening provided in an end of a opposed second jaw. The pivotal connection of the jaws maintains the punch and die opening in arcuate alignment as the jaws are pivoted. A throat of the tool receives the upstanding leg of the sill can with the formed punch fitting flush against the bottom of the sill can and thus the tool will produce a weep hole in the upstanding leg flush with the interior bottom of the sill can as the jaws are pivoted toward each other. A large surface area surrounding the die opening in the second jaw prevents marring of the sill can exterior surface.

The safety switch according to one embodiment of the invention is mounted to the safety guard of the chain braking mechanism in a position such that it may be rendered operable by either a selective action of the saw operator or by the operator's reaction response to a hazardous operating condition. In either case, the safety switch effects short-circuiting of the motor ignition to stop all motor operation while at the same instant, the safety guard effects stoppage of the cutting chain motion about the chain guide bar. Alternatively, the safety switch is mounted in conjunction with the movable safety guard such that short-circuiting of the motor ignition is effected through the chain braking mechanism.
