  • Patent number: 5168596
Abstract: An anti-lift deflector for a windscreen wiper includes a hooking member for mounting the deflector onto a wiper or wiper arm and an aerodynamic blade attached to the hooking member and having a substantially flat first zone extending rearwardly from a leading edge of the blade followed by a second zone which is inclined relative to the first zone and which terminates at a trailing edge of the blade. During use of the deflector, the first zone is slightly inclined relative to the surface to be wiped and the second zone is inclined relative to the surface to be wiped at an angle greater than the first zone. This creates a surface effect giving a relatively large pressure decrease below the deflector, thus forcing the wiper blade into contact with the surface to be wiped.

The levers are suitable for occupying an open first position in which the jaws are moved apart from each other, and a closed second position which is spontaneously locked under the action of declutchable locking means, in which position the jaws bear against respective opposite sides of the blade and hold it securely in position.

Abstract: An archery bow sight is disclosed having a tubular member within which are plate members disposed in intersecting planes. Sight components are of transparent plastic having a fluorescent dye dispersed therein. The tubular member and plate member surface areas absorb light waves and conduct the waves to their respective edges to provide a brilliant reticle for use in low light conditions without reliance on artificial light sources. The mounting plate receives a base of the sight in an adjustable manner. Ultraviolet light waves are converted by the sight into visible light waves.

Abstract: A pressure transducer elevation gauge for determining the precise elevation of a physiologic pressure transducer in a heart catheter laboratory for determining hemodynamics, specifically relating to the heart. The pressure transducer elevation gauge is positioned adjacent to a reclined patient and an indicator is vertically adjusted on an upright rod or stand to the precise level, or mid-axiallary line of the patient's heart. The gauge indicator is then moved toward the foot of the bed, where it is used to precisely locate the physiologic pressure transducer at the mid-axiallary line.

  • Patent number: 5168635
Abstract: An apparatus and method for approximating a workpiece contour. The conformable tool includes a support plate having a plurality of apertures and a two dimensional arrangement of a plurality of pins, each of which is slidably disposed within a corresponding aperture of the support plate. A plurality of locking members works in concert to simultaneously lock the plurality of pins in position once the pins have effectively approximated the contour. The conformable tool is pressed against the three dimensional contour of the workpiece so that each pin is displaced in response to the workpiece contour. The pins are then simultaneously locked in place by the locking members and the conformable tool is removed from the workpiece contour so that the conformable tool can be used as a forming base to reproduce the workpiece surface.

Abstract: A sensor for detecting the location of a hole in a surface of a workpiece. The sensor comprises a sensing head having a probe adapted to engage the portion of the workpiece surface defining a hole. A housing supports the sensing head for lateral displacement in any direction from a longitudinal Z axis of the sensor in response to engagement of the hole-defining portion by the probe. A pair of displacement conversion members are supported in the housing for independent axial displacement along the Z axis corresponding in direction and magnitude to the lateral displacement of the sensing head along X and Y lateral axes, respectively. Sensing devices are disposed to respond to the axial displacement of each of the conversion members to generate a signal indicative thereof.

Abstract: A running web the upper side of which is coated with one or more films containing a volatile substance is heated from below in a housing which contains a driven cooled condensing roller in the space above the path for the web. The vaporous substance which is expelled as a result of heating of the web is condensed on the peripheral surface of the cooled roller, and the film of condensate is stripped off the peripheral surface to enter an evacuating trough. The rate of condensation can be regulated by changing the rotational speed of the roller in dependency upon variations of pressure of vaporous substance above the running web and/or in dependency on the monitored rate of escape of vaporous substance into the atmosphere.

Abstract: This invention refers to a dryer for sugar cane bagasse and/or medulla with vertical type, mobile bed with countercurrent waste combustion gases consisting of: a cylindrical body like a silo. The load is fed into the top of the cylindrical body and is then evenly distributed by spreading devices. Combustion gases from conventional boilers with a high energy content and normally considered as waste are fed countercurrently with the assistance of a ventilator into the bottom of the dryer through slots or holes. Once the gases have picked up humidity while going through the silo, they are expelled through the top by means of a conduct to the boiler's chimney.
