  • Patent number: 5752410
Abstract: A tunneling sensor is disclosed having a pair of force rebalance capacitors that are used in a push-pull relationship so as to provide a rebalance force that is a linear function of applied rebalance voltages, which leads to an output voltage that is linearly related to input acceleration. The tunneling sensor comprises a plate electrode that is formed from and attached to a silicon substrate by a pair of torsional flexures, which provide an axis of rotation for the plate electrode. A pendulous mass is formed on a first end of the plate electrode, and a tunnel-effect contact is formed on a second end of the plate electrode. A pair of torque rebalance bridge electrodes are formed on the substrate so as to span the plate electrode. A tunnel-effect tip is formed on the substrate so as to be proximate the tunnel-effect contact and in line with the rotational path that the tunnel-effect contact takes when the plate electrode is rotated.

  • Patent number: 5752411
Abstract: The inventive method for measuring the mass of the gas component and the mass of the water vapor component of a gas/water vapor source stream flowing in a conduit under reduced pressure comprises storing a correlation of relative saturation of water in said gas and the output electrical signal of a relative humidity sensor. Next, a correlation of the flow rate of the gas component of a flowing gas/water vapor reference stream and the output electrical signal of a temperature-compensated flow sensor as a function of water vapor density is stored. A correlation of maximum water vapor saturation in the gas as a function of temperature also is stored. An electrical signal of a temperature sensor in contact with said source stream then is generated. An output electrical signal of a relative humidity sensor in contact with said source stream also is generated. An output electrical signal of a temperature-compensated flow sensor in contact with said source stream further is generated.

  • Patent number: 5752413
Abstract: The reciprocating piston machine has a wobble plate gear, in which the pins (2) are connected in articulated manner to the circumference of the wobble plate (3) by in each case one ball end (21), which engages directly or by means of an interposed slip ring (29) with a spherical inner face (30) in a guide (28) directed transversely to the piston axis. As this leads to the avoidance of connecting rods with in each case two ball ends, the machine can be given a more compact construction.

  • Patent number: 5752425
Abstract: A microtome particularly suitable for sectioning specimen to be observed on a transmission type electron microscope. Mounted on top of and located to one side of a machine base (2) are an X-Y axis stage and a tilting stage (4) which in turn supports thereon a cutter holder block (5) with a cutting knife (6). Located to the other side of the machine base (2) is a micro-feed mechanism (7) which supports thereon a specimen holder support arm (12) with specimen (14) and a Z-axis stage (11). The micro-feed mechanism (7) has first and second linear motor stages (8) and (9) to be displaced inversely in intersecting directions crossed each other with a predetermined intersection angle (28) across Y-axis. As the first and second linear motor stages (8) and (9) are displaced at the intersection angle (20) with each other, the specimen (14) is displaced over a small distance of nanometrically fine level in the direction of X-axis, thereby permitting to produce an ultra-thin specimen piece.

  • Patent number: 5752427
Abstract: A hydrostatic radial piston machine 10 is proposed, whose adjustable reciprocating ring 18 has integrated means for detecting the eccentricity 20 between the reciprocating ring 18 and the rotor 14. In combination with the rotating rotor 14 and the binding of the sliding blocks 17 to this reciprocating ring 18, the eccentric location of the reciprocating ring 18 leads to a reciprocating motion of the work pistons 16 in a radial direction. Together with the kinematic conditions in the radial piston machine 10, this leads to a change in the spacing between two successive sliding blocks 17. This change in spacing varies in proportion to the eccentricity 20 of the reciprocating ring 18 and is therefore detected by a measuring instrument. To that end, this measuring instrument has a measured value pickup 27, which is integrated in the reciprocating ring 18 and outputs an increased voltage signal as long as sliding blocks 17, which act as measured value transducers, move past it.

A single power transmission is provided linking said at least one drive unit to said at least one unit of a processing machine. Said power transmission includes an adjustment member coupling to tune all torsional critical speeds out of the range of normal operating speeds of the processing machine. A single power transmission unit can therefore be used for an entire family of processing machines, wherein each processing machine may have a different stiffness.

Abstract: A printing machine includes a plurality of printing rolls for custom printing multi-coloured indicia or designs on corrugated cardboard boxes. Each roll prints with ink of a different colour to the others. The design is prepared on a computer using graphics design tools and separated into components of a specific colour each. The designs are distorted asymmetrically no compensate for curvature error and each component is printed on a separate sheet of polyester or other transparent, dimensionally stable material. In one preferred embodiment, outline indicia of each element in a design component is printed on the sheet. In another embodiment, to save time, coordinate marks and identification indicia are printed on the sheet. Dies corresponding to each element are manufactured separately. A printing mantle is assembled for each roll by affixing the dies in positions determined by the printed indicia.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for improved agricultural seeding; especially useful in no-till direct seeding. In the illustrated embodiment an inclined furrow is cut with a rotating disk that is inclined with respect to the vertical and the horizontal; the furrow has a raised lip, and straw and the like stalks are cleaved during the cutting. Seed is inserted by known means, and then a packer wheel, preferentially inclined in vertical and horizontal directions opposite to those the disk is inclined, runs across the lip and closes the furrow. Advantages include substantially reduced energy required for the furrow cutting, less weight required on the furrowing disk, more even seeding depth, less hairpinning, less soil disturbance, and less weed seed burial.

  • Patent number: 5752455
Abstract: A buttonhole sewing machine drive motor is turned on with an on switch. A large foot pedal engages the drive pulley on the motor and drives a V-belt. The V-belt drives a pulley and a timing pulley, which in turn drives a timing belt. The timing belt drives a clutch timing pulley, which freely rotates around a main drive shaft of the buttonhole sewing machine. When a small foot pedal is pressed downward, an air-activated over-the-center toggle connection moves a slide bar which moves a clutch switch spring. Parallel extension on the clutch switch spring move thrust washers and an interposed thrust bearing. The thrust washers compress a clutch disc assembly which engages the clutch timing pulley. A switch bushing is locked to the clutch disc assembly, and brake springs in a hand wheel assembly are locked to the switch bushing. The brake springs engage a hand wheel disc which is connected to a hand wheel and which is connected to an end of the main drive shaft for turning the drive shaft.

Based on the pattern display data, a predetermined number of embroidery patterns are displayed in a display unit mounted on the sewing machine. After a desired embroidery pattern is selected, an operator may depress a stitching time key if he or she wants to know a stitching period of time for the embroidery pattern selected. When the key is depressed, the stitching period of time is computed based on the corresponding embroidery data stored in the card ROM. The resultant stitching period of time is displayed in conjunction with the selected embroidery pattern. As such, the operator can recognize the stitching period of time before start of embroidery stitching.

Abstract: A net utilizes members having at least one surface which is flat and causes the at least one flat surface of the members to confront each other and be connected by a sewn connection. The generally flat orientation of the members permits the members to be readily repeatedly connected with uniform results. The invention also utilizes the flat surfaces of the members to create an out of plane design whereby the flat surfaces of the members extend perpendicularly to the plane which includes the net. Connections can further be made by providing a hollow member and inserting another member into it at a first point and then threading the inserted member through the hollow member until it exits by piercing the hollow member or by causing the inserted member to be sewn to the hollow member therewithin.
