  • Patent number: 6189172
Abstract: A removable snowboard boot liner made from Ethyl Vinyl Acetate with an air bladder attached therein and a method of mass producing such liners. An oily chalk like substance consisting of 90% sweet starch, 9% lubricant and 1% stearate is included between the two sheets that make up the bladder. The bladder is attached to the EVA before the EVA is folded, stitched, heated and molded. This allows the bladder to be attached while the EVA is still flat and allows the attachment to be performed by machine stitching. The bladder is partially inflated before the EVA is heated and molded. The oily chalk like substance and the partial inflation of the bladder allows the installed bladder to pass through the heating and molding steps of the EVA without the two sheets that make up the bladder melting together. The invention also consists of a design and installation of the bladder that minimizes the amount of slipping of a wearer's foot and heal within the boot.

  • Patent number: 6189173
Abstract: In a device for removing toner or similar substance deposited on a recording sheet or similar sheet, projections are formed on a back-up member and located at portions on which the rear of a separating member slide. While a sheet is passed through a pressing portion in contact with the separating member, the projections raise the rear of the separating member toward the surface of the sheet carrying the toner. Hence, even solitary particles of the substance adjoining relatively thick and large masses of the substance can contact the front of the separating member. Hence, the solitary particles are prevented from remaining on the sheet.

  • Patent number: 6189186
Abstract: An elastomeric cord lock has two specially shaped passages extending through an elastomeric body. Lengths of cord pass through each of the passages and can be tied off at the ends to keep the cords from slipping out of the cord lock passages. Each passage has a cross section extending from a wide end to a narrower outwardly extending slot portion. The passages may, for example, have keyhole-shaped cross sections. When the lengths of cord are substantially parallel, the cord lock can easily slide along the lengths of cord. However, many applications for the cord lock require that the lengths of cord be maintained in a state of tension (for example, when the cord lock is being used to hold a drawstring tight). When outward tension is applied to the lengths of cord, the lengths are forced into the narrower slot portions, causing greater locking force to be exerted. The cord lock of the present invention thus provides greater locking force when greater force is needed. When not as much locking force is needed (i.

  • Patent number: 6189208
Abstract: The invention provides a flip chip mounting process in which a layer of electrically insulating adhesive paste is applied on a substrate having bond pads, covering the bond pads with the adhesive. Electrically conductive polymer bumps are formed on bond pads of a flip chip to be bonded to the substrate, and the polymer bumps are at least partially hardened. The bond pads of the flip chip are then aligned with the bond pads of the substrate, and the at least partially hardened polymer bumps are pushed through the adhesive on the substrate to contact directly and bond the polymer bumps to the bond pads of the substrate. This process results in direct electrical and mechanical bonding of the polymer bumps between the chip and substrate bond pads, even though the adhesive film was applied on the substrate in a manner that covered the substrate bond pads. The polymer bumps displace the adhesive as they are pushed through it and expand laterally on the substrate bond pads.
