  • Patent number: 6199267
Abstract: A method for the production of a magnetic head, where first a lower magnetic pole is formed on a wafer. Next, a nonmagnetic write gap layer is formed on the lower magnetic pole. A coil is then formed to be sandwiched between nonmagnetic insulating layers on the nonmagnetic write gap layer. Finally, an upper magnetic pole, provided with a pole tip, is formed to contact the write gap layer on the nonmagnetic write gap layer. After formation, a focused ion beam is irradiated in the direction from a thickness of the pole tip to the lateral parts of the pole tip, the nonmagnetic write gap layer lying directly thereunder. The lower magnetic pole thereby trims the lateral parts of the pole tip while consequently decreasing the width of the pole tip. At the same time, depressed parts are formed in the lower magnetic pole in the areas extending outward from directly below the lateral parts of the pole tip.

  • Patent number: 6199285
Abstract: The foldable flatware utensil includes a shank with an integral spoon bowl, knife or fork. An elongated handle has an end that is telescopically connected to an end of the shank. A bore in the shank is aligned with a bore in the handle when assembled for use. A line has one end anchored in the bore in the shank. Another end of the line holds a portion of the line in the bore in the shank. If the line is elastic, the handle is urged toward the shank for use and stretches to permit the handle to be disengaged from the shank and folded for storage. If the line is inelastic, a sleeve is retained on the line and fixed in the bore in the handle. When removing the handle from the use position, a portion of the line is pulled through the sleeve and permits the handle to be folded for storage. A detent maintains a connection between the handle and the shank if needed.

  • Patent number: 6199286
Abstract: Apparatus for the laser guidance of the aiming function used by the shooter, and fiber optics to increase the usability of the weapon. One type of adjustment is provided by a vertically movable and vertically adjustable cam member; and a second adjustment is provided through arm linkage which adjusts a rotatable laser holding member. Futher features are the provision of a novel adjustable base means to adjust the laser for horizontal (windage) adjustment and also provided a standard of testing feature for testing vertical alignment. Fiber optics gives the shooter the means by which he is able to aim and shoot at farther targets in comparison to the lasers' limits of rangeability; and this fiber optic feature supplements the laser feature of the sight device, and the sight provides a novel sight pin feature. An adjustable lens device provides that the laser beam can be adjustably expanded rather than constricted.

  • Patent number: 6199287
Abstract: A spatial orientation guide used to enable a person to easily, accurately, and repeatedly return to a predetermined location. The guide comprises two similarly shaped, contrasting portions each defining a similarly shaped outline on separate, adjacent planes. To set the guide for future use, a suitable location is chosen. The guide is then positioned so that the planar outlines of the portions are orthogonal to and spaced along the sight line taken from the chosen location. In this configuration, the portion closest to an observer obscures the maximum observable surface area of the portion furthest from an observer. When the person wants to return to the desired location, all that is required is that the person move relative to the now “set ” guide. As a person moves toward and away from the predetermined location, the percentage of the observable surface area of the furthermost portion becomes lesser and greater, respectively.

  • Patent number: 6199289
Abstract: The invention concerns a device for measuring the thickness and or unevenness of wadding or non-wovens. The device has a guide element (30) for the wadding or non-wovens and a thickness sensor (26, 27, 28) which presses the wadding or non-wovens against the guide element and can move relative to the latter, the position of the sensor providing a measure of the thickness and/or unevenness of the wadding or non-wovens. To achieve a simpler and cheaper design without sacrificing measurement accuracy, an individual sensor is provided with a translation element (31) which converts the deflections of the individual sensor in one direction into a path signal available in another direction. This allows signals corresponding to the deflections of several individual sensors to be added together and applied to a single common path measurement system (32).
