Abstract: Speed gear are manufactured by integrally molding, by either hot or warm forging, a speed gear section and a clutch spline section. Teeth of the speed gear in the speed gear section and an involute spline parallel to an axial line of the gear in the clutch spline section are rough formed. The involute spline parallel to the axial line of gear formed on the section of clutch spline is formed, by cold forging, into an involute spline with a back taper having a chamfer at the tip. The teeth of the speed gear formed at the speed gear section are finish formed by forming the speed gear teeth by rolling dies, by cold forging, while turning them around a shaft hole with reference to the clutch spline section forming the involute spline with back taper. A speed gear having a speed gear section and a clutch spline section including speed gear teeth and an involute spline with a back taper having a chamfer at the tip is thereby provided.

The die member has a pair of opposed clinching lips protruding from an end face. The opposed clinching lips have a contact face that narrows as it approaches the opposed ends of the contact face and sidewalls that are angled with respect to vertical. The lips, due to the dual angles, substantially and simultaneously drive panel metal into fastener grooves both longitudinally and laterally. Abstract: A scuffing protector for shielding a standard snowboard boot from the edge of a snowboard during the ride up a chairlift is disclosed. Snowboard riders traditionally remove one of their boots from its binding for the ride up the chairlift. The free boot allows the rider to maneuver through the chairlift lines and onto the chairlift itself. The snowboard boot protector is removably attached to the dorsal surface of the free boot of a snowboarder, so when riding the chairlift, the snowboard can rest upon the boot protector without causing any damage to the free boot. The boot protector is composed of a tough plastic or rubber material that has both flexibility and durability. Abstract: A method and apparatus for modifying the profile of narrow, high-aspect-ratio gaps on a semiconductor substrate are used to fill the gaps in a void-free manner. Differential heating characteristics of a substrate in a high-density plasma chemical vapor deposition (HDP-CVD) system helps to prevent the gaps from being pinched off before they are filled. The power distribution between coils forming the plasma varies the angular dependence of the sputter etch component of the plasma, and thus may be used to modify the gap profile, independently or in conjunction with differential heating. A heat source may be applied to the backside of a substrate during the concurrent deposition/etch process to further enhance the profile modification characteristics of differential heating.

Abstract: In a method of removing acidic compounds, color, and polynuclear aromatic hydrocarbons, and for removing or converting hydrocarbons containing heteroatoms from petroleum distillates, phase transfer catalyst is employed to facilitate the transfer of inorganic or organic bases to the substrate of the distillate. An inorganic or organic base, a phase transfer catalyst selected from the group including quaternary ammonium salts, polyol ethers and crown ethers, and used oil distillate are mixed and heated. Thereafter, contaminants are removed from the used oil distillate through distillation. A solvent is then mixed with the resulting distillate to extract contaminants therefrom. The solvent is recovered and distilled to separate the contaminants therefrom, and is then reused. The petroleum distillate having the contaminants separated therefrom is also distilled to remove any remaining solvent therefrom, with the recovered solvent being reused.

Abstract: According to the present invention, a dispenser for dispensing a substance from a pressurized canister having a nozzle selectively operable to control release of the substance is provided. The dispenser includes an elongate housing for a pressurized canister, where the housing includes a proximal end, a distal end, and a sidewall. The distal end of the housing has an aperture formed therein, and the sidewall has an opening formed therein. An actuator, which is movable at least axially forward toward the distal end and axially backward toward the proximate end, extends within the elongate housing through the opening and cooperates with a nozzle of the pressurized canister. To operate the dispenser, the actuator is moved to an axially forward firing position in which the actuator causes the nozzle to operate, thereby releasing the substance from the pressurized canister through the aperture in a substantially axial direction.

Abstract: A semiconductor device capable of restraining a leakage current at a n-p junction of source/drain regions and a manufacturing method of the semiconductor device. A trench is formed in the source/drain regions, a main surface of the source/drain regions is removed at a time of forming the trench and a surface area of the source/drain regions is increased as compared with that before forming the trench. In this manner, a stress per unit area concentrated on the source/drain regions in the vicinity of ends of an isolating oxide film is reduced, and any occurrence of minute defects is restrained. As a result, leakage current caused by any minute defects due to the stress is reduced, and a refresh pause time is prolonged, and in other words, characteristics of a refresh operation can be improved.

In accordance with one implementation, a capacitor plate is formed and a conductive layer of material is formed thereover. Preferably, the conductive layer of material is more conductive than the material from which the capacitor plate is formed. In a preferred implementation, the conductive layer of material comprises a titanium or titanium-containing layer. In another preferred implementation, the capacitor plate comprises an inner capacitor plate having an outer surface with a generally roughened surface area. In one aspect of this implementation, the roughened surface area comprises hemispherical grain polysilicon. Capacitors formed in accordance with the invention are particularly well suited for use in dynamic random access memory (DRAM) circuitry.
