  • Patent number: 6249927
Abstract: An improvement of the duct-cleaning unit is disclosed for scraping the deposits from the inner surface of the flow line, which are residual in the flow lines after the completion of conveyance of any fluid material to thereby clean the flow lines as well as recover the material left in the tubing. The improvement is comprised of a pair of spherical guiding bodies coupled to lengthwise opposing ends of a connector member, one to each end, through universal joints. The spherical guiding bodies are each provided at the location near the connector with an annular pressure-carrying surface that makes fluid-tight contact at its outermost periphery with the inner surface of the tubing. The design of the present invention may make the cleaning unit smaller in size, so that the residual deposits in flow lines, in particular, at the relatively small radius bent in the flow line, may be reliably removed and pumped out the flow lines with the result of the high efficiency in cleaning process.

  • Patent number: 6249933
Abstract: A pump has a housing defining a pump chamber and having a shaft opening. An impeller shaft extends through the shaft opening and is sized to define a gap between the impeller shaft and the shaft opening. An impeller is attached to the shaft inside the pump chamber. The impeller includes a first set of impeller blades for transporting fluid through the pump chamber and a second set of impeller blades for creating a pressure force which pushes fluid away from the shaft opening. The pump with sealless shaft prevents fluid from leaking through the gap, and therefore is particularly suited for use in a tank-type vacuum cleaner capable of collecting both dry material and fluid. The gap is used in such an application to prime the pump, thereby discharging fluid collected in the tank.

  • Patent number: 6249937
Abstract: A low profile latch mechanism for use in existing and new parachute quick release couplings of the type having two nested members. The mechanism uses a U shaped latch connected to a lever. In an overlying position of the lever, the members are retained in the nested condition, preventing release of the coupling. A W-shaped spring biases tabs into engagement with apertures in one of the members. The lever is retained in the overlying position by connection with the W-shaped spring. Disengaging the W-shaped spring allows the lever to be pivoted, moving the U shaped latch to a position whereby the members are free to separate.

  • Patent number: 6249939
Abstract: Method for warping with a cone sectional warping machine, which winds threads in bands on a warping drum, wherein a support for a thread guide comb and the warping drum are displaced in relation to each other in correspondence with the increasing thickness of winding and predetermined warping data. The first band is monitored during a first measuring phase by a roll exerting contact pressure and the monitored displacement path is recorded as a function of the number of rotations of the warping drum. Roll pressure on the winding during the measuring phase is continuously monitored using measuring techniques. Displacement of the support is corrected if monitoring results differ from a predetermined setpoint. In order to even out the formation of the wind, the roll is arranged at a given distance from the warping drum when warping of the first band is started. The monitoring of the roll is automatically started with increasing thickness of the winding as soon as the winding causes the roll to rotate.

  • Patent number: 6249949
Abstract: An automated apparatus and method for removing the bead wires from discarded tires prior to further processing of the rubber of the tire casing employs an intermittently movable infeed conveyor that brings each tire to a position where it drops into a chute leading to a debeading chamber. In a particular embodiment, the tire comes to rest on pivoted gates in the chute, which open to drop a tire into the debeading chamber. In the debeading chamber, the tire rests upright on a spring-loaded platform that forms the floor of the debeading chamber. Side plates with cruciform die openings form sidewalls of the debeading chamber that confront the sidewalls of the tire. The tire is positioned so that the openings in the tire sidewalls are generally aligned with the die openings. Hooks of movable bead pullers extend through the vertical slots of the die openings and through the central openings of the tire sidewalls to positions where their downwardly open hooked ends overlap between the tire sidewalls.

  • Patent number: 6249952
Abstract: A method of making a balloon expandable braided stent with a restraint to initially prevent self-expansion and the resulting product. Multiple strands of a resilient metal or plastic are braided to form a tubular configuration of a predetermined outside diameter which assumes a lesser diameter when the tubular stent is longitudinally stretched. When in its stretched condition, it is coated with a polymeric material which is then cross-linked to effectively “freeze” the intersections of the braided structure holding it in its reduced diameter configuration. The tubular stent is designed to be placed within a body vessel using a balloon stent delivery catheter. When the balloon surrounded by the braided wire stent is inflated, the stent expands initially to an extent to break the bonds of plastic material between the intersections of the strands, thereby permitting self-expansion to take place.

Abstract: In rotors for electric motors, it is usual to fix the commutator on the rotor shaft by a press fit. In the present invention, the rotor shaft, with the rotor core fixed thereon, is electrostatically coated with an epoxy layer on opposite portions of the rotor shaft and in the winding slots, and is then heated to the plasticizing and curing temperature of the epoxy. After that, by a sliding tool, the commutator, whose inner bore has a clearance fit relative to the rotor shaft, is slipped onto the rotor shaft in a terminal position, in the process the still-viscous epoxy is pushed backward and is deposited radially on a connecting end face, forming a bead, and penetrates the annular gap between the inner bore and the rotor shaft. Once the epoxy layer has cooled, the commutator is fixed against rotation and displacement on the rotor shaft. The rotor is suitable for electric motors of various types.

Abstract: An improved tool for pulling off a rotor of a motor from a shaft or a fan from a shaft, which improved tool is provided with hooked arms that are releasably but securely held at one end in the housing, without the use of retaining clips, so that the arms do not fall off during use or become lost, and so that they do not interfere with the use of the tool when using the securing bolts for pulling off a rotor. The housing of the improved tool of the invention is circular in shape, and in a first version , is provided with a plurality of equally-spaced holes about its circumference, which holes received the hooked ends of the hooked arms, so that various configurations of hooked arms may be provided to best suit the configuration of vanes and type of fan being pulled off a shaft.

Abstract: A wire capable of operating at high temperatures and a method of making the same is disclosed. The high temperature wire comprises fiberglass, which surrounds the conductor. The fiberglass insulates the conductor and enables it to operative at relatively high temperatures. The fiberglass is heat-treated without any additional, or in lieu of, other chemical treatment and is sufficiently frangible to be easily removable from the conductor. The frangible fiberglass may be easily stripped away from the conductor without leaving strands which need to be individually removed.

  • Patent number: 6249962
Abstract: A circuit board is manufactured having a structure which includes a plurality of supporting layers each of different materials. The supporting layers support electrically conducting patterns. Each of the materials has a different melting point. The material for the first supporting layer has the highest melting point of the different materials for supporting layers. Beginning from the first supporting layer, new supporting layers are arranged successively. Each new supporting layer has a lower melting point than that of the material of the supporting layer which is closest in the direction of the first supporting layer. Each new supporting layer is attached to the structure by exposing the structure to a temperature which exceeds the melting point of the new supporting layer but is lower than the melting point for that supporting layer which is the closest in the direction of the first supporting layer.
