The extension is formed from an upstanding hollow member having one end engaging the sink drain and a second free end. A stabilizing member connects with the drain engaging end of the hollow member to secure that end and the hollow member in a substantially fixed position with the drain and prevent relative movement between the hollow member and the sink drain. Appropriate supporting elements are used to seal the drain opening with respect to the extension and to further restrain the tubular member from movement. A strainer may be employed with the extension, and an alternative location for the extension may be utilized along the sink periphery.

Abstract: The invention provides a method for reacting a variety of protective entities to form covalent bonds with nylon, which entities can be applied directly in the dyebath with the dyes that are used to dye the nylon without blocking such dyes or interfering with their color yield. Such protective entities include stain-blockers, chlorine resist agents, fire retardants, UV absorbers, antimicrobial agents, fume fade protectors, soil-resist agents and anti-stats. According to this method, a protective entity is reacted with a moiety having the capability of forming a covalent bond with a nylon fiber to create a modified protective entity that is adapted to form a covalent bond with a nylon fiber. The modified protective entity is added to a dyebath containing one or more dyes selected from the group consisting of fiber reactive dyes, acid dyes, acid-premetalized dyes and disperse dyes. The dyebath is applied to nylon fiber at a pH within the range of about 0.5 to about 6.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system and method for constructing a vehicle-mounted single core broom system for use in clearing snow or debris from airport runways. The rotatable broom system utilizes a single piece hollow tubular core which is attached to the front of the vehicle. A low speed/high torque radial piston hydraulic motor is mounted inside one end of the broom core. The motor case rotates as the motor operates. Because the motor case is directly connected to the broom core, this rotation causes the broom core to rotate. A rotatable mounting is attached to the opposite end of the broom core. The broom core is 46 inches in diameter and dynamically balanced. These features enable higher broom tip speed and improved sweeping efficiency. Linear bristle cassettes are slid horizontally into the broom core sections, facilitating easy removal and replacement of the bristles as they become worn.

Abstract: A socket test probe and a method of making the probe which results in a probe head which has flat plates which serve as electrodes encased in resin. The electrodes are conductive plates with one or more edges of the conductive plates exposed for connection to the electrodes of a socket. The entire probe head starts as a solid block of conductive material which is drilled, machined, filled with resin and machined again to form a socket testing probe utilizing the edges of conductive plates as electrodes.

Abstract: A vertical member having a sliding member and the like is installed on the upper face of a base member which covers a cutting blade in a condition in which the cutting blade can slide in a horizontal plane. An operational lever is provided to extend from the vertical member and a rotational member, having a fixed sandwiching member and a rotational sandwiching member, is installed on the vertical member perpendicular thereto and in a condition in which it can be freely rotated. The band part is fastened by rotating the rotational member in a condition in which the band part of a band is sandwiched by the fixed sandwiching member and the rotational sandwiching member, and the cutting blade is moved by downward movement of the sliding member to cut and remove the band part.

Abstract: A printed-wiring substrate 1 includes internal dielectric resin layers 12 and 14. A main-surface-side external dielectric resin layer 13 is formed on the internal dielectric resin layer 12 such that the surface thereof serves as a substrate main-surface 1A. A back-surface-side external dielectric resin layer 15 is formed on the internal dielectric resin layer 14 such that the surface thereof serves as a substrate back-surface 1B. A surface 12A of the main-surface-side internal dielectric resin layer 12 and a surface 14A of the back-surface-side internal dielectric resin layer 14 are roughened. The substrate main-surface 1A and the substrate back-surface 1B are roughened such that surface roughness thereof is lower than that of the surfaces 12A and 14A.

Abstract: An annular groove portion is formed between portions corresponding to groove portions and thereafter the groove portions are formed while the annular groove is pressed. Consequently, since the stress produced due to a plastic deformation in forming the groove portions can be absorbed by the annular groove having a smaller rigidity than the groove portions, no undesirable plastic deformation of the groove portions occurs and hence the accuracy of the finished size of the multi-stage pulley can be improved. Furthermore, the capital investment in groove forming rollers can be reduced and the manufacturing cost of the multi-stage pulley can be reduced.

Abstract: The invention is directed to a method for introducing a compensating material into a tire/wheel assembly by providing at least one self-contained batch of a compensating material having a predetermined amount of such material and being selectively transferable into a tire. The at least one batch of material remains substantially self-contained for shipping and handling. The at least one batch is then transferred into the tire, and the tire is thereafter mounted onto a vehicle for operation or otherwise rotated wherein the at least one self-contained batch of material disperses the material within the tire upon rotation.

Abstract: A tool for determining the radius, e.g., of a construction or other surface, such as a doorway arch or the like, has three arms. Each arm has a free end and defines an elongated slot through which a pivot pin is mounted. In one embodiment, arm free ends are engaged with an arch or other surface, and the arms and pivot pin are relatively adjusted until the same dimension is indicated on each arm. In another embodiment, the slots and the pivot pin define cooperatively interengaging teeth, and rotation of the pivot pin moves the arms until the free ends of all the arms engage the surface to indicate the surface radius. The radius tool may also have the form of a flexible arms wound from a spool.

Abstract: A design tool comprises an icon figure attached to a base. The icon figure is shaped as a human seated in a wheelchair, although the shape of the icon figure is constrained only by size requirements necessary to allow it to function as a design tool in a particular application. The base is shaped and scaled to imitate the turning radius of a wheelchair. In an alternative embodiment, the base may have a different shape or size to indicate a different turning radius. The design tool further comprises a rod or wand extending from and supporting the icon figure in operation, providing an alternative way for the user to maneuver the icon figure and base. In operation, manipulation of the design tool along pathways on a design plan visually illustrates the feasibility of movement along the noted paths in light of the size and turning radius of the represented person.
