Publication number: 20020000007Abstract: An improved water heater for use in spas, hot tubs, pools, hydrotherapy pools, bath tubs, and similar bodies of water used indoors, outdoors, or both indoors and outdoors are used for both therapeutic and recreational purposes. The water heater uses heating element technology know as thick film on substrate comprising resistive elements bonded to the outer dry surface of a substrate to heat the substrate which in turn heats the water flowing through the heating chamber. The heater is highly efficient due to the direct contact of the wet heating surface with the water and provides a smooth seamless inner heating surface by eliminating the need to pass electrical leads into the wet region of the heater. This virtually eliminates the risk of leaks in the water heater due to bulkhead fittings. The invention further eliminates the need for a heating element to be contained in the inner wet region of a spa heater, thereby reducing the risk of corrosion.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 29, 2001Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventor: Robert Pittman

Publication number: 20020000037Abstract: A method of fabricating a substrate having a conductive layer on opposing sides, with the conductive layers interconnected by a conductive via. The inventive method uses a dielectric substrate having a conductive layer deposited or laminated onto one or both of the substrate's opposing surfaces. For the situation of a metal layer on one side of the substrate, a laser drill is used to drill blind vias through the dielectric, stopping at the substrate/conductive layer interface. An electrolytic plating process is used to fill the via by establishing an electrical connection to the conductive layer. A second conductive layer may be deposited or laminated to the other surface of the substrate. If the starting structure has a conductive layer on both sides of the substrate, the drill is controlled to bore through the upper conductive layer at a comparatively high power and then continue at a lower power through the substrate.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2001Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventors: William T. Publication number: 20020000046Abstract: A machine tool, with a stop plate (2, 21), a working unit having a disk-shaped cutting tool (1, 17) and a driving mechanism (3), is connected pivotally with the stop plate (2, 21) for making angular and miter cuts. By means of several connecting link guides (4), mounted at the stop plate (2, 21), it is ensured that the cutting characteristics of the machine tool are independent of the pivoted position.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2001Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventor: Markus Hartmann

Publication number: 20020000047Abstract: A work form-measuring method comprises placing a work on a waiting position after the work has been machined by a machining center, and bringing a probe of a three-dimensional coordinate-measuring machine, which is arranged in the vicinity of the machining center, close to the work and then measuring the forms and dimensions of the work. This enables the three-dimensional coordinate-measuring machine to be incorporated into the machining center, thereby resulting in the shortage of the production line tact including the measurement, and the acceleration of the feed back of the measured date.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 11, 1999Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventors: YUKIJI YODA, SADAYUKI MATSUMIYA, AKIHIRO KOBI

Publication number: 20020000048Abstract: The present invention relates to an alignment device for electrically connecting a testing device to a socket of a sliding plate. The testing device is positioned beside a conveyer. The sliding plate is slidably placed on the conveyer and is temporarily halted in front of the testing device. The alignment device comprises a positioning device fixed on the socket of the sliding plate, a plug electrically connected to the testing device, a guiding device fixed on the plug, a driving device installed beside the testing device for pushing the plug and the guiding device toward the socket and the positioning device of the sliding device, and a mounting device installed on the driving device for slidably supporting the plug and the guiding device. The guiding device is used for interacting with the positioning device to adjust the position of the plug on the mounting device.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 23, 1998Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventor: LEE TIEK NYEN

Publication number: 20020000049Abstract: A method and apparatus for controlling the drying cycle of a dryer by utilizing fuzzy logic control. Control is accomplished by first monitoring the moisture level of a clothes load in the dryer. From the monitored moisture information, variables such as the elapsed time from the start of the drying cycle to a point when no significant moisture is detected for a specified time period and the number of times higher moisture registrations occur during another specified time period are determined. Based on the determined variables, fuzzy logic is used to determine characteristics particular to the clothes load being dried, such as size of the load. Using the determined characteristics in conjunction with user settings more accurate control of the time of drying heat application, reduced drying heat application and cool down time can be accomplished.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 21, 2001Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventors: Christopher J. Publication number: 20020000050Abstract: Articles to be dried are fed in a drying chamber to a first carrier element which is moved incrementally in a vertical direction. A subsequent second carrier element with a further article to be dried is then stacked underneath the first carrier element, with the stack of carrier elements is moved incrementally in vertical direction. Each carrier element with provided with a transport mechanism for receiving articles to be dried and discharging dried articles, whereby an aeration system circulates warm drying air through the drying chamber. The carrier elements are stacked on one another, whereby a lifting device is configured for moving the stack in vertical direction.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 23, 2001Publication date: January 3, 2002Inventor: Ekhard Goldack
