Abstract: A curved optical eye shield removably attached to a single set of arms that connect to an elastomerically operated tensioning system that is an integral part of ahead mount system. The eye shield rotates from a normal viewing position to an out of viewing position above the forehead. The rotation of the eye shield is initiated manually, but, the elastomerically operated tensioning system contemplates the rotation unassisted after the eye shield passes midway in its travel. The elastomerically operated tensioning system uses an H shaped tensor to apply clockwise tension to keep the eye shield held firmly in the viewing position, and when the eye shield is manually lifted toward the out of viewing position above the forehead, tension is applied to the reverse or counter clockwise direction to keep the eye shield held firmly in the out of view position.

Abstract: An apparatus comprising an apron for a child care giver is provided. The apron may include a first attachment device having a plurality of shaped items attached to it and a second attachment device having a plurality of touchable items attached to it. The apron may be further comprised of a zipper device and a buttoning device connected so that they can be manipulated by a child. An upper pocket may be provided having a designation indicating that the upper pocket is to be used for storing medical supplies. A protective device may be connected to the apron for protecting the wearer from untidy activities of children.

Abstract: COMPRESSION GLOVE AND METHOD OF FITTING THE SAME A compression glove formed from a composite fabric of approximately 80% nylon and 20% spandex which is stretchable in all directions to continuously apply pressure to the hand of a wearer for long periods of time to treat or relieve symptoms of various medical conditions.

Abstract: Powder-free natural rubber and synthetic elastomer gloves having an inner coating of a cross-linked polyurethane impregnated with silicone and their method of manufacture are described. The gloves exhibit good grippability, good donnability as measured by their wet and dry coefficient of friction, tensile strength, elongation to break and stress at 500% modulus.

Abstract: A method for making knitted articles incorporating parts similar to lace in a knitted article. Using the method the parts similar to lace are made directly on a knitwear or hosiery machine so they are integral and united with the remaining parts of the article. The method includes knitting selectively a first elastic or stretch thread and at least a second non-elastic thread wherein the position of the second non-elastic thread is reversed with respect to the needles fed according to a program.

Abstract: A size adjustable hat or cap has a generally round headpiece which covers a portion of the wearer's head, and a rear opening to allow the headpiece to be adjusted to fit the wearer's head. A decorative adjustment mechanism connected to the headpiece allows the rear opening to adjust the headpiece to fit the wearer's head. The headpiece adjustment is achieved with a sizing tie having two segments attached to lower edge of the headpiece. The sizing tie extends rearwardly of the headpiece and is adjusted by a tie lock which moves along the sizing tie to adjust the fit of the headpiece upon a wearer's head by adjusting the rear opening. The sizing tie is provided with a visually pleasing decorative design on is outside surface to establish the dual utilitarian and decorative role of the tie.

Abstract: An improved sock with a circumferential flap secured thereto which when worn in combination with footwear, prevents the introduction of foreign particulate such as pebbles into the hiking boots and other footwear. The sock is made from cotton, wool, synthetic material or a combination thereof. The flap is preferably made from a material that is liquid impermeable and is vapor permeable. The flap is secured to the sock by looming, stitching, buttons, or by complimentary materials on both the flap and the sock. In operation, the flap is lowered to a position where it circumferentially covers the top of the shoe or hiking boot thereby preventing environmental hazards from entering therein. In some embodiments, additional means are used to secure the flap to the footwear such as VELCRO, buttons, and a drawstring.

Abstract: The present invention relates to strap assemblies. More specifically, the present invention relates to strap assemblies for supporting one or more devices mountable on an individual or patient, such as a drainage reservoir or other medical devices. Furthermore, the strap assemblies of the present invention are designed to alleviate some of the discomfort in wearing such an assembly. The strap assemblies of the present invention generally comprise a waist strap, a shoulder strap device and one or more front straps.

Abstract: The present application describes an item of clothing the width of a component part of which can be adjusted by the user, the clothing item having a line or cord (1) at least partly encircling the relevant part, which cord can be pulled by the wearer to adjust the width or tightness of the part by means of gathering of the material of the part around the line or cord. For the part of the circumference of the relevant part the cord is concealed under the material but emerges at a desired point and then passes again to the inside of the item of clothing so as to form a cord pull section (6) on the inside of the clothing. The clothing item includes means (5) for holding the component part in its tightened or gathered condition about the cord, the cord pull section (6) being used by the wearer for adjustment of the width of the relevant part.

The plugging device is disposed in a through hole of the main body and connected to a drain opening coupler. A sliding path is formed in a side recessed slot on the plugging device for a hook lever to slide through. A spring is disposed between the shutoff cap and the plugging device. The drain cover is placed below the top portion of the main body. When the shutoff assembly is pressed, the bottom end of the hook lever is trapped in a bottom recess and the drain cover blocks the drain hole of the drain opening coupler. When the shutoff assembly is pressed again, the hook lever is released and the drain cover is moved up to open the drain hole.

Abstract: Automatic flushing, lid raising and seat raising arrangements for toilets include a tank top having optical sensors integral therewith so that standard flush tanks and tops may be used with only the tops being slightly altered to accommodate the optical sensors. The flushing arrangement is readily mountable on standard overflow pipes and provides automatic flushing while also allowing manual flushing. A grip dowel positioned through opposing side sleeves of the draw sheet to allow one-handed turning of a patient by a care giver. The body straps secure the patient in a side rest position by attachment to the side rails of the bed. The draw sheet is detachable from the body straps to reveal the torso of the side rest secured patient. Body strap ends stays may be individually disengaged from the bed rails and to obtain greater access to the upper or lower torso of the patient. If so capable, the patient may disengage the body straps from the bed rails to return to a back rest position. Additionally, grip dowels positioned in pull strap sleeves flanking the patient's head and neck may be used to longitudinally position the patient in bed.

A scraping blade is used to scrape mud off of shoes and boots. At least one rotating brush is used to clean off debris from the bottom of the shoes and boots. A drawer is located on the bottom of the main housing and collects the mud and dirt from the shoes and boots. The drawer can be removed for easy cleaning.

Abstract: A painting roller assembly comprises a shaft with first and second wheels rotationally supported thereon, and a plurality of supporting ribs bridged therebetween. The supporting ribs are radially arranged between the wheels. An insert is arranged between the ribs such that each supporting rib is suitably supported by the insert thereby increase the overall rigidity of the ribs. A sponge roller is enveloped onto the wheels and ribs to facilitate painting work.

Abstract: An improved specialty paint finish roller comprising a conventional roller handle assembly having an axle portion, a roller tube and a naturally occurring sponge material secured around the roller tube. The roller tube is fabricated by slicing natural sponge in a manner to form essentially flat sponge pieces. One of the sponge pieces is then placed over a surface of a base material having an adhesive applied thereto, the sponge material thereby adhering to the base material. The sponge/base material is go then cut lengthwise into an adhesive and is then wound about the surface of the roller member, the adhesive then being allowed to dry. The elongated tube member is then cut to predetermined sizes, the resulting roller tube being joined to the roller handle assembly. Using a natural sponge as the paint applicator produces a natural design, each roller being unique such that a unique design is applied to an interior wall.

Abstract: An upright vacuum cleaner with a cyclonic airflow path includes a floor-engaging base unit, a body unit pivotally mounted to the base unit and a motor/fan assembly mounted on one of the base unit or body units. A dirt collecting enclosure is also mounted on the body unit and includes a first large chamber and a second smaller chamber. A filter unit is disposed in the first large chamber. Dirt laden air is introduced into the first large chamber in a tangential manner so as to impart a cyclonic action to the airflow. The filter in the first large chamber is effective for removing larger particles of debris from the airflow. The remaining airflow is communicated to the second chamber where smaller particles of debris are removed. Airflow from the second smaller chamber is then communicated through a cyclonic chamber disposed above and transverse to the dirt collecting enclosure, to a third chamber where a second filter is disposed.

The handle structure may be mounted to a driving shaft installed in a housing of the apparatus for opening and closing the window and may then be foldable. Pair of fixed members is formed on the inner surface of the body portion within the depressed portion and extend over a predetermined length of the depressed portion. A supporting device is suitably secured together with the fixed members formed in the depressed portion. The supporting device is provided with a rectangular plate-shaped supporting piece, a hexahedral-shaped moving member and a coiled spring. A knob is engaged to be one body with an outer surface of one end portion of the body portion.

Abstract: This invention relates to a device to be used for tending straps and also to be used as a whistle. More particularly, this invention relates to a device for tending straps with a whistle integrated within the device where both the whistling and strap-tending functions are independently operable. While whistles may be included as individual pieces of gear they are often not available when desired. This invention facilitates the inclusion of a whistle by combining it with items designed to tend the straps on gear that is more commonly carried.

Abstract: Lightweight, non-woven loop products for hook-and-loop fastening are disclosed, as are methods for making them and end products employing them. The products are non-woven webs of entangled fibers of substantial tenacity, the fibers forming both a sheet-form, bonded web body and hook-engageable, free-standing loops extending from the web body. The product is, in important cases, stretched before bonding to produce spaced-apart loop clusters extending from a very thin web of taut fibers. In important cases a binder is added to stabilize the product in its stretched condition. An example of the loop product is produced by needle-punching a batt of staple fibers in multiple needle-punching operations, applying a foamed acrylic binder, and then stretching the needled batt and curing the binder with the batt stretched. Other forming techniques are disclosed and several novel articles employing such loop products are described.

The connector device comprises a compressible first device connected to the fastening mechanism with at least a portion of the material receivable within the first device. A second device is positionable over at least a portion of the first device. A securing mechanism associated with the first device and the second device releasably secures the first device to the second device wherein the second device compresses the first device about the portion of the material receivable therein thereby securing the first device to the material.

The base (104) defines a central opening (107) spaced-apart projections (108) are disposed in an annular pattern about the opening. The recesses 116 of one fastening member 100 receives the flanges 114 at an opposing fastening member to detachably connect the fastening members together. A method of detachably joining two substrates together is disclosed.

The base nonwoven fabrics have a structure obtained by needling from at least one side. The needles used for the structure needling are fork needles or crown needles, and the depth of the forks and barbs, respectively, is so selected that, when piercing through, they completely fill up with fibers of the base nonwoven fabric facing the needles. The textile material have unmixed, pure fibers in the pattern, in the background and on the reverse side.
