Abstract: A dovetail preform having linearly extending hooks and slots is finished to provide arcuate slots and hooks for securement of the finished bucket dovetail to a correspondingly-shaped dovetail of a turbine wheel. An electrode having the general configuration of the dovetail with arcuate hooks and slots is provided. After relatively linearly displacing the electrode and preform, disposed in an electrolytic solution, to insert the electrode hooks into the slots of the preform, the electrode and preform are relatively displaced in a direction normal to the direction of the linear slots and hooks of the preform such that metal of the preform is burned to form arcuate finished surfaces along the hooks of the preform. In another embodiment, the electrode has a dovetail configuration as a negative of the finished dovetail for the bucket and passes along an arc of a circle through the linearly extending slots of the preform to form the opposed concave and convex surfaces of the finished bucket dovetail.

Abstract: Manufacturing method enabling optimal volume oil-fill even where differing from bearing to bearing due to machining fluctuations in volume-production dynamic pressure bearings. In a first charging method, injection of oil is divided into two cycles. The first is carried out under reduced pressure, following which the pressure is raised a predetermined amount to force the oil into the bearing gap. The oil-fill status is thereupon checked, the shortage is reckoned, and in the second cycle the shortage is injected. In a second charging method, in a first cycle a surplus volume is injected under reduced pressure and the pressure is raised a predetermined amount to force the oil into the bearing gap. Following that, what is in excess of the appropriate amount is removed from the bearing. The first cycle of injection and the pressure elevation may be implemented multiple times, in between which repeat pressure-reduction can be carried out.

Abstract: A combined target sight and range finder with a bulls-eye pin and slotted sight plate that receives an adjustable “belly bar” is disclosed. A “set-in” procedure is used to establish a set-in distance and to generate a scale of various target sizes. The “set-in” procedure involves adjusting such that the bulls-eye pin is consistently aimed at the bulls-eye of a target, yet hits the target at a distance above the target. The archer moves progressively farther away from the target until a “set-in” distance at which aiming at the bulls-eye produces shots that hit the bulls-eye is reached. Various targets are presented at the set-in distance, and the belly bar is positioned such that the bulls-eye pin and belly bar frame each target. The belly bar can then later quickly be placed in its slot at the position corresponding to the target size, thereby accounting for the distance between the shooter and the target.

Abstract: A panel display system comprises three separate, flat display panels, each with surfaces allowing for the easy, temporary attachment and ready removal of photographs, brochures, documents, visual aids or the like. One side of one of the panels is rotatably connected, by hinges, to one side of a second panel. The other side of the first panel is rotatably connected, by hinges, to one side of a third panel, such that the first panel becomes the central display panel in a three panel display configuration, with the other two panels in adjacent alignment. By rotating the panels about their hinges, the display system can readily, easily and quickly be converted to a single panel display or a dual panel display, without the use of tools or any other appliance. A header is provided for ready placement on and attachment to the display system, in each of its configurations. Support members are provided for use when the system is configured as a single panel display.
