Abstract: The invention relates to a method for the production of hair dyes and/or intensive toners, whereby the intermediates (developer and coupler) and the direct dye are dissolved in liquid or creamy support masses, which may be combined in a computer-controlled device in situ, based on formulations stored in the computer to give a colour tone mixture, for example, in the hairdressers, or in a shop. According to the multi-step method, the applied intermediates (developer and coupler) and the direct dye are dissolved in a support mass in an initial step, whereby only sufficient alkali agent is added to dissolve and stabilise the intermediates (developer and coupler), the direct dye and the support mass. In a subsequent further method step, after mixing of the individual base components, generated in the initial stage, optionally ammonia or corresponding substitute materials are added before the addition of the peroxide.

Abstract: This invention relates to novel whitening agents for cellulosic substrates. The whitening agents are comprised of at least two components: at least one chromophore component and at least one polymeric component. Suitable chromophore components generally fluoresce blue, red, violet, or purple color when exposed to ultraviolet light, or they may absorb light to reflect these same shades. The whitening agents are further characterized by having a dispersion component value of the Hansen Solubility Parameter of less than or equal to about 17 MPa0.5. This invention also relates to laundry care compositions including but not limited to liquid and/or powder laundry detergent formulations and rinse added fabric softening (RAFS) compositions that comprise such whitening agents.

Abstract: A pool cleaner includes a housing and a pump means for drawing water and debris through an intake port into a filter. A jet-valve housing having a jet-valve flap is mounted in a valve-chamber disposed over the pump means to direct a propulsion jet stream from the pump to one of a pair of opposing propulsion outlets formed in the jet-valve housing to move the cleaner in a forward direction. The valve-chamber has a wedge-shaped apex with a pair of opposing pins configured for pivotally mounting the jet-valve flap. A spring is disposed between the top portion of the jet-valve flap and the chamber apex to force the jet-valve flap to pivot between the opposing propulsion outlets when the pump is temporarily powered off to change the direction of cleaning. Upon restoring power to the pump, water from the pump closes the previously opened propulsion outlet and opens the previously closed propulsion outlet to propel the cleaner in a forward direction that is opposite to the previous direction.
