The guides are arranged with their long dimensions extending radially as they travel around the track. Carrots are fed into the trough-like guides at the upper side of the track and slide down the guides until they reach a stationary fence. The guides than travel past a blade which cuts off one end. As the guides continue to travel around the track, they change orientation so that the end of each guide which was at the top is then at the bottom, and the carrot slides to the other end of the guide before passing a second blade where the opposite end is cut off.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 15, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Inventors: Brian Everett, Bernard Everett

Publication number: 20090071350Abstract: The invention relates to an apparatus for tensioning a bond, in particular a tripping device, comprising a drive unit (10) which, in the operated state, drives a band winding unit (12) with opposite directions of rotation in one direction in each case. As a result of the band (18), which can be inserted into the apparatus, being releasably locked in predefinable positions by means of an operating device (14) which can be actuated by a control device (16) of the band winding unit (12), functional positioning of the band winding unit is started in order to fix the band, which can be inserted into the apparatus, in the tensioned or tautened state, in order to then be able to insert the band tensioning apparatus for a new strapping operation after the band is severed.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 27, 2007Publication date: March 19, 2009Inventor: Adolf Fay

Publication number: 20090071351Abstract: Precise motion of the ram of a fastener press is controlled by high torque and low torque motors for high speed/low force and high force pressing of the ram by the ram, respectively. The high torque motor means drive passes through a bidirectional overrunning clutch. The clutch is controlled by the relative motion of the two separate motor drive speeds of which are regulated by a controller. The clutching motion is therefore controlled only by the relative speed of its drive versus driven components. This provides an extremely smooth and responsive transition between high speed/low force and low speed/high force operation of the ram so that the pressing cycle can be as fast and efficient as possible.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 10, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Applicant: PEM MANAGEMENT, INC.Inventor: Roger B. Publication number: 20090071353Abstract: A flexographic printing machine including at least one printing unit with an ink roller mounted at one end to a first sliding support and a plate-holding roller mounted at one end to a second sliding support, and at least one guide member for guiding the movements of the supports in directions parallel to an imaginary line which perpendicularly intersects the axes of the ink and plate-holding rollers. In addition, first upper and lower screws are provided parallel to said line above and below the axes of the ink and plate-holding rollers in order to move the first support, and second upper and lower screws are provided parallel to the line above and below the axes of the ink and plate-holding rollers in order to move the second support.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 29, 2006Publication date: March 19, 2009Applicant: Comexi, SAInventors: Lluis Esparch Marti, Jordi Puig Vila, Lluis Castello Plaja

Publication number: 20090071354Abstract: There is provided a surface treatment device of a printing press that does not cause adverse affect on a transfer film in the surface treatment device at a quick stop of the printing press. The transfer film is wound around a plurality of rollers in the surface treatment device, and rollers disposed close to an impression cylinder out of the plurality of rollers are adapted to be capable of being individually driven through motors, respectively. At an emergency stop of the printing press, a controlling section fine-adjusts the running speed of the transfer film into synchronization with the speed of the impression cylinder, by driving the rollers individually while acquiring information from an impression cylinder encoder.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Inventors: Toshio Yamashita, Takahiko Nakamura

Publication number: 20090071355Abstract: A printing unit of a web-fed rotary printing press with several printing couples is disclosed. Each printing couple features a transfer cylinder, a plate cylinder, an inking couple and preferably a dampening unit, where the transfer cylinder and the plate cylinder of each printing couple are positioned jointly on side walls of a frame of the printing unit, and where the printing unit is aligned in the web-fed rotary printing press via bearing devices which engage on the frame of the printing unit. Rollers of the inking couples and/or dampening units of the printing couples are positioned on separate supporting walls such that the supporting walls are displaceable with respect to the side walls on which the transfer cylinders and plate cylinders of the printing couples are positioned, in order to facilitate access to the cylinders and the rollers of the printing couples.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 12, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Applicant: manroland AGInventor: Wolfgang KAESER

Publication number: 20090071356Abstract: A rotary printing press is disclosed. The press includes at least one plate-free printing unit for printing a substrate web with a static print image for print copies of a print job and at least one plate-free printing unit, in particular an inkjet printing unit for printing the substrate web with a dynamic print image. The/each plate-free printing unit can be shifted from a printing position in which the substrate web can be printed by the same printing unit, into a service position in which no substrate web can be printed by the same printing unit. A device which is assigned to the service position is printable by at least one plate-free printing unit that is shifted into the service position, such that the printing parameters of the same can be verified and adapted to subsequent printing of the substrate web in the printing position.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 18, 2008Publication date: March 19, 2009Applicant: manroland AGInventor: Peter SCHULMEISTER
