Abstract: A vertical reinforcing bracket for an insulated concrete form wall includes: a formed rigid material of sufficient strength that is shaped to add stiffness and assist in accurate placement of vertical reinforcement within the formwork. Openings are formed in the embedded tongue portion of the bracket to aid in the accurate positioning of vertical reinforcement within the insulated concrete formwork wall to reduce thermal bridging and to accommodate other building attachments or strengthening features of the bracket. Although the preferred embodiment of the patent uses steel, alternative materials with satisfactory structural properties may be substituted. The reinforcing bracket is intended mainly for use in correctly locating vertical reinforcement near ends of walls and along the sides of openings in walls constructed in insulated concrete forms. In addition, reinforcing brackets anchored in the hardened concrete by the reinforcing bars may be utilized to attach and support other building elements.

Abstract: A folded wall anchor and an anchoring system employing the same are disclosed. The anchor is a folded sheetmetal construct utilizable with various wire formative veneer ties. The folded wall tie enables the junctures of the legs and the base of the wall anchor to be located inboard from the periphery of the wall anchor and the legs to fully or partially sheath the mounting hardware. The sheathing function unifies the openings in the insulation required for installation and forms an anchoring system that is less intrusive. Upon installation with the surfaces of the enfolded leg and of the base coplanar, the leg and mounting hardware insertion point is sealed thereby. This sealing precludes penetration of air, moisture, and water vapor into the wall structure. Various embodiments show wall anchor configurations with suitable veneer ties and differing sheathing arrangements.

Abstract: A combined cable comprising a core cable of high-strength synthetic fibers, which take the form of a twisted bundle of monofilaments or a plurality of twisted bundles of monofilaments, and comprising an outer layer of steel wire strands, is characterized in that the bundle or bundles of monofilaments is or are stretched, with a reduction in diameter, and held in this state by a sheathing, in particular a braided sheathing. The extension under strain of the core cable under load is thereby reduced, so that the load distribution between the cross section of steel and the cross section of synthetic material of the cable improves. In order, in the same sense, conversely to make the strain behavior of the layer of strands approximate that of the core cable, the cable has an intermediate layer of an elastic synthetic material into which the steel wire strands are pressed while spaced apart from one another in such a way that the outer layer extends under load, and contracts radially.

The speed of the fiber band feed is controlled in a delayed manner from the run-up of the yarn draw-off, dependent on the rotor speed, by the fiber band function, such that the fiber shortfall quantity being produced from the fiber band function is compensated by dynamic feed addition with respect to height and length.

Abstract: The present invention provides closed-circuit hydraulic thruster used for the generation of thrust, or lift, force from the torque provided by a prime mover, or a motor. In a preferred embodiment the closed-circuit hydraulic thruster comprises an outer casing; at least two inner-members; at least one intermediate body; a drive shaft; at least one rotor assembly including a central disk and a plurality of circumferentially arranged, low angle of attack, hydrofoil-like blades; and an incompressible fluid completely filling the space enclosed within the casing. In operation, the incompressible fluid will circulate within the passages confined between the opposing surfaces of the casing, inner-members, and intermediate body due to its acceleration by the rotor blades, with the blades' generated thrust force being transmitted to the thruster's casing through thrust bearing arrangement(s) Means for cooling the incompressible viscous fluid are also provided.

Abstract: According to the present invention, a blade with lift-to-drag ratio greater than one can generate a lift force greater than the drag force on the blade when a fluid flows across the blade. The blade can be positioned within an enclosed engine to produce a force greater than the force required to move the fluid across the blade, thereby creating a thrust for the enclosed engine. The direction and the magnitude of the thrust may be controlled by controlling the direction of fluid flow. According to the present invention, fluid flowing inside a thrust engine may be gaseous or liquid. A thrust engine of the present invention uses one or more wings in a configurable environment to create a directional force.

Abstract: A hydrolysis catalyst forming part of an exhaust system for a combustion engine for catalytically converting a uric substance to ammonia which can be used in a downstream SCR catalyst. The hydrolysis catalyst includes an active catalyst element with a central portion and a surrounding peripheral portion, both of which are lined with the same catalyst material. To ensure that injected urea, or other uric substance, which can become crystallised, does not cause blockages in the catalyst, the cross-sectional areas of separate ducts in the peripheral portion are larger than the cross-sectional areas of the separate ducts in the central portion. A method for hydrolysis of a uric substance by use of the catalyst and directing flow through the ducts of the peripheral portion upon blockage of ducts in the central portion.

Abstract: An exhaust tract for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle includes a first exhaust gas line, which conducts exhaust gases from the internal combustion engine to an exhaust-gas treatment device, and a second exhaust gas line, which forms a bypass line bypassing the exhaust gas treatment device. In order to ensure sufficient treatment of the exhaust gas even in the lean operating mode of an internal combustion engine, at least one first valve and one second valve are provided in series in the bypass line. An exhaust line is provided between the first valve and the second valve to reduce the pressure between the first and second valves. The pressure upstream of the second valve and the pressure downstream of the second valve, or the ambient pressure of the motor vehicle, are determined and negative pressure is applied to the exhaust line such that an exhaust gas flow via the second valve to the outside into the environment of the motor vehicle is prevented.
