Abstract: Catching gear to be worn by a catcher receiving a ball from a pitcher is disclosed. The gear comprises a leg guard adapted to be worn on one leg of the catcher, and a light-emitting device on the leg guard. The light-emitting device is positioned for generating light to be directed toward the catcher's fingers to increase the visibility of hand signals given by the catcher.

The zippers define pleats which can be opened or closed by the zippers to expand and contract the vest to alter its size. More particularly, each zipper includes first and second rows of teeth which are operable between interlocking and separated conditions to close and open the zipper in order to close and open the associated pleat.

Abstract: A protective garment, such as a surgical gown, includes a garment body defining sleeves. A cuff may be secured at respective ends of the sleeves. An elastic fiber layer is disposed on the sleeves beginning at the sleeve or cuff. The elastic fiber layer has a high friction surface such that an end of a glove pulled over the elastic fiber layer is inhibited from rolling or sliding back over the elastic fiber and down the sleeve. The elastic fiber may be formed of a polyolefin or other polymers according to known processes and may include a dye or colorant that may be used to indicate the fluid protection level of, for example, a surgical gown.

Abstract: A method of making an article of clothing includes: providing a plurality of sheet segments each of which is made of a multi-layered material that includes a thermoplastic foamed layer, and a thermoplastic non-foamed layer laminated on the foamed layer, each of the sheet segments having at least one connection end; and assembling the sheet segments to form the clothing by heat-sealing the connection ends of the sheet segments, thereby forming heat-sealed seams in the clothing.

Abstract: A chemical resistant glove is provided which comprises a chloroprene-based rubber as a first layer and a mixed rubber layer containing a nitrile-butadiene-based rubber and a chloroprene-based rubber as a second layer sequentially formed on a fabric glove, wherein a mixing ratio of the nitrile-butadiene-based rubber and the chloroprene-based rubber in the mixed rubber layer as the second layer is 60:40 to 10:90 in a solid weight ratio. The chemical resistant glove of the present invention is excellent in chemical resistance, tactile feeling and the abrasion resistance.

Since heat is shielded and distributed repeatedly through three steps, the transmission of external heat is effectively prevented.

Abstract: This invention is concerned with an infant toilet trainer (10) which includes a seat (12) having an aperture therein (18), a support formation (14) for supporting the body of an infant seated on the seat and a base (16) which can be placed on a seat of a toilet to allow the aperture of the seat to mouth into the bowl of the toilet. The infant toilet trainer of the invention is characterised in that the seat, support formation and base are of unitary construction and produced from a resilient material. These features will allow at least a portion of the support formation to flex towards an infant seated on the seat under the influence of the weight of the infant.

Abstract: An offset grid drain closure assembly including a drain strainer disposed in the drain hole of a basin, a vertically movable stopper member disposed beneath the strainer and having structure complementary to the opening or openings in the strainer, and a gasket disposed immediately underneath the strainer member and having a matching opening pattern. The stopper is operably connected to an actuation device such that when actuated, the stopper is lowered downwardly from the gasket underneath the strainer or raised to approximate the gasket so as to close the strainer. The drain closure thus provides fluid tight closure of a drain with no elevated surfaces in the bottom of the fluid containing basin, either when closed or when opened.

Abstract: The presently disclosed device and method uses a rubber bulb, tubing and an inflatable bladder to temporarily plug a toilet bowl or drain. The plugged drain for a toilet bowl to be thoroughly cleaned by allowing a solution, filled to the rim or other level of the toilet bowl, to soak away stains and disinfect the toilet bowl. The device can be disposable or reusable. The device can also be incorporated into common bathroom products, including but not limited to a toilet brush or plunger.

The controller 10 includes a rechargeable unit 12 and a first protection unit 14 which measures the voltage and current provided by the rechargeable unit 12. Abstract: A system for controlling water flow through a shower head includes a shower mat made of resilient material having a transmitter, an electrical power supply, and a switch embedded and hermetically sealed therein. The switch, when activated by a bather, sends a power pulse provided by the power supply to the transmitter, which transmits a control signal in response to each received power pulse. Separate from the shower mat, the system also includes a low-voltage DC power source, a receiver powered by the power source, and control logic which alternately activates and deactivates a driver transistor of a solenoid control circuit in response to the receipt of control signals received by the receiver from the transmitter. A solenoid-controlled valve in line with water flow to the shower head has a control solenoid with an input that is coupled to the low-voltage power source through the driver transistor.

Abstract: An inclined lift for patient transfer is designed to allow a patient to be pulled on an inclined ramp which is subsequently movable to a raised generally horizontal position. IN the raised generally horizontal position a patient may be transferred to a chair or to a further horizontal structure such as a bed. In a preferred embodiment the inclined lift includes a patient slide mat that is movable onto the ramp by a retraction mechanism. The patient sits or lies on the mat and a winch type mechanism pulls the mat onto the inclined ramp. There is no requirement for a patient harness to directly pull the patient onto the inclined ramp.

Abstract: A bed frame comprising T shaped side rails provide support for a box spring and mattress. A leg assembly is affixed to the bed frame and is affixed to the side rail and to the cross rails for better strength of connection. The use of T-shaped side rails provides more resistance to twisting and bowing and thereby more resistant to damage a leg or other structural component of the bed frame from moving the bed frame across the floor. The use of the T-shape cross section side rails enables the overall bed frame to support more weight with less deflection than the convention L-shaped side rails. There are also headboard and footboard brackets that take advantage of the greater height of the vertical flange of the side rail to have affixation means, such as rivets, that are further spaced apart to provide a more rigid connection between the brackets and the side rails.

The mattress support system is lighter, easier to transport, and provides more storage space beneath the mattress. The mattress support system includes bed frame assemblies, central connecting bars, edge attachments, headboard attachments and a bed skirt. Leg supports fold out from the bed frame assemblies, which themselves unfold in the middle. Central connecting bars connect inner side edges of the bed frame assemblies. Plastic edge attachments are attached at outer corners of the bed frame assemblies and hold a bed skirt taut when the frame assemblies are standing on extended leg supports. A mattress is then placed on top of the assembled mattress support system. Optionally, metal edge attachments at the head corners hold both the bed skirt and a headboard. Alternatively, headboard attachments protrude from under the bed skirt and support a headboard.

Abstract: A bridge decking panel and structures for attaching the panel to supporting bridge beams and to other such panels at abutting ends. An anchor plate assembly is cast within a paving material and has a pair of parallel runner bars extending along the decking panel and spaced apart by the width of a supporting bridge beam that is received between the runner bars. The runner bars are connected by cross bars and several studs extend from the runner bars into the paving material. Several nuts are welded to the runner bars at spaced intervals and aligned with holes through the runner bars for attachment to connecting structures. The connecting structures include panel to beam connecting structures that have several clamping plates extending from beneath a runner bar to beneath a portion of a bridge beam. A mating machine screw extends through a hole in each clamping plate and engages the nuts and, when tightened, clamps the anchor plate assembly, and therefore the decking panel, to the bridge beam.

Unflocked zones (11) that are left between the wiping elements (9) absorb substances which are to be discharged from the instrument channel during the cleaning process. An unflocked final region (13) located at the longitudinal ends (3, 5) of the wick (1) makes it easier to introduce the cleaning wick into the instrument channel.

Abstract: Apparatus for cleaning the interior surfaces of large diameter pipe provides a lightweight basic structure that is easily adapted to clean a range of diameters of pipe. The apparatus uses an interlocked drive mechanism to develop axial movement of the device and synchronize the rotary movement of the cleaning nozzles. The rate of movement is adjustable, to accommodate pipe of varying diameters.
