Abstract: A soft armor compound curved compliant ballistic element is received within a pocket formed on a uniform garment having a main body which encircles the body of a wearer, and which is stretchable to conform to the wearer's body shape. The garment has two limb encircling sections, i.e., sleeves or pants legs, which position the garment with respect to the wearer. Pockets are formed on the garment sleeves, legs, or other regions to overlie those portions of the wearer's body which it is desired to protect. The soft armor elements are received in the pockets and are retained by the garment in close proximity to the portions of the wearer's body which it is desired to protect, such as a shoulder, a knee, a thigh, an elbow, an arm, a bicep, a forearm, the lower back, or the groin.

Abstract: The ballistic groin protector of the present invention is preferably a compound curved sheet comprised of a stack of multiple layers of ballistic material, for example material of Kevlar® fibers, or Spectra® fiber material. The stack may be stitched around the periphery. To obtain more stiffness a more or less thick plastic stiffening shape may be formed together with the layers of ballistic material. The ballistic protective element is preferably somewhat compliant and not so stiff as to excessively interfere with movement of the wearer. The ballistic element may be enclosed within a fabric bag and suspended from a belt, and have a rearwardly opening cup shape to serve to protect the groin of a wearer.

A pillow enabling the patient with whiplash syndrome to sleep peacefully is thus developed. A pillow 1 of the present invention has a deformable pillow body 2 including an upper surface cloth 21 and a lower surface cloth 22 having an edge cloth 23 as a boundary, formed with a head depression part 4 including a bottom surface 41 at a position depressed from the upper surface cloth 21 to the lower surface cloth 22 of the pillow body 2, and a groove part 6 extending from the head depression part 4 to the edge cloth 23 of the pillow body 2 and being formed by joining the upper surface cloth 21 to the lower surface cloth 22.

The core structures and support material comprise different deformable polymer materials. Each of the core structures may be configured as a column having a column axis. Methods of forming cushions include forming a plurality of core structures, and at least partially surrounding each core structure of the plurality of core structures with a support material comprising a second, different deformable polymer material. The core structures may be configured such that each core structure is integrally interconnected along a length thereof to no more than two other core structures of the plurality of core structures.

The fluidizable and non-fluidizable modules cooperate with each other to support an occupant. The support for the non-fluidizable module bears less than all the weight of the fluidizable module and, in the limit bears none of the weight. An alternative occupant support includes at least one non-fluidizable module and at least one fluidizable module cooperable with the fluidizable module to support an occupant. The fluidizable module is sized to support no more than about 50 percent of the length of an adult human body and most preferably no more than about 30 percent.
