Abstract: The invention relates to a transmission mechanism for a drive system, having at least one tensioning device and acting in two directions. For force transmission, the tractive device runs between a drive roll and an output roll, which are carried by a frame. A spring coupling is connected in the force transmission section between the drive roll and the output roll and has a nonlinear force-distance characteristic curve.

Abstract: A crimping assembly is provided for securing a cover part to a structural member. The crimping assembly includes a housing, a drive shaft disposed within the housing and rotatable in a first direction, and a first roller fixedly secured to the drive shaft and rotatable therewith. The crimping assembly also includes a slide shaft disposed within the housing and rotatable in a second direction. A second roller is fixedly secured to the slide shaft and rotatable therewith. A drive mechanism is operably coupled to the drive and slide shafts to roll the first and second rollers over the cover part to secure the cover part to the structural member. A coupling mechanism is operably connected between the drive shaft and the slide shaft to allow movement of the slide shaft towards and away from the drive shaft during operation of the crimping assembly to accommodate variations in flange thickness.

Abstract: A head lifting device for lifting the head off of an internal combustion engine. The head lifting device is typically used for an engine having multiple separate heads. It includes a crane assembly that has a support member. At one end of the support member is a bracket for attaching to a first head. At the second end of the support member is a gearbox. The second end of the support member is positionable over a second head, the second head typically being adjacent the first head. Hanging down from the gearbox is a shaft threaded, and at the end of the shaft is an assembly for engaging the second head. Driving the gearbox will allow the shaft to move upward through the gearbox and, with a second head attached thereto, allow the second head to lift off the engine block.

Abstract: A shaft is held in place within the bore of a housing by means of a band of resilient material that is located between the shaft and the housing and has a series of projections extending radially inwards. The shaft surface has a first part that lies closer to the longitudinal axis of the bore than a second part, when the shaft and housing are assembled. The shaft is initially inserted into the resilient band, which is held within the bore, such that the first part of the shaft surface is oriented towards one of the projections of the resilient band. In this orientation of the shaft, the projection is not compressed. By orienting the second part of the shaft surface the projection, the projection is brought under compression and the shaft is held firmly within the bore.
