Abstract: The present invention relates to a protective system that can be used in the record management industry. The protective system includes a root portion, covering portions, and gripping portions. The root portion can receive the palm of the user, the covering portions can receive the fingers of the user, and the gripping portions are carried by the covering portions and/or the root portion and help the user grip different items. The gripping portions can be made of various materials, including rubber.

Abstract: A baseball glove 10 is provided with an indicia apparatus 12 which allows the user to view recorded data when desired. The baseball glove 10 includes a transparent member 34 which is coupled to and spaced from the back wall 14 of the glove so that an accessible open area 36 is formed between the wall and transparent member. A first planar shaped member 42 is provided having predetermined recorded indicia 44 thereon which is slidably held under the transparent member 34 so that the indicia thereon is visible. A second planer shaped member 46 is coupled to the glove above and adjacent the transparent member 34 so that it can be pivoted to conceal or reveal the recorded indicia on the transparent member as desired. A coupling member 50 is provided so that the second planar shaped member 46 can be coupled to cover the transparent member 34 and conceal the recorded indicia 44 when desired.

Abstract: Turnout pants for use in firefighting, a protective accessory that can be added to turnout pants and a method of altering turnout pants to protect a wearer from sharp instruments are disclosed herein. Turnout pants may include two pants legs made at least partially of fireproof material. A piece of protective material may be positioned on one or more pants legs. The piece of protective material may be configured to protect a wearer from a sharp instrument such as a chainsaw.

Abstract: A ventilated garment includes a shell layer worn by the user and an auxiliary layer attached to a portion of shell to define a ventilated portion of the garment. An exterior opening formed in the outermost layer of the garment includes a fastener controlling the open or closed state of the exterior opening. A drain opening is also formed in the outermost layer separate form the exterior opening adjacent the bottom of the ventilated portion. Ventilating openings are formed in the waterproof innermost layer. A mesh layer spans the ventilating portion between the ventilating openings and the exterior opening to trap snow/rain and drain the precipitation through the drain opening therebelow to the exterior of the garment. The mesh layer blocks passage of precipitation therethrough while allowing a ventilating flow of air therethrough.

Abstract: Outerwear in the form of a wearable personal device can be customized to accept auxiliary gear using a quick attach/detach system that provides for minimal alteration to the aesthetics of the auxiliary gear and the wearable personal device. The system of the present invention can be offered in varied sizes and shapes to accommodate not only dimensional requests, but capacity of auxiliary equipment. In one embodiment, the system of the present invention can be employed with a webbing system previously attached to the wearable personal device. The present invention can include a replaceable female buckle designed to mate with to corresponding male buckles placed on any of a variety of auxiliary equipment items, thereby facilitating quick and simple attachment and detachment of the auxiliary equipment.

Abstract: A jacket, coat or windbreaker, particularly for tactical use by police, for example, has a side opening just below the arm to the bottom of the jacket, provided with a quick-opening feature for fast access to a weapon normally secured under the jacket. The side opening is closed by a zipper pulled downwardly and is concealed by a flap when closed. A small gripping tab extends out at the exterior of the jacket near the bottom edge, at the end of a rip cord that extends through an opening in the jacket and is secured to a plastic buckle or clip somewhat similar to a small seat belt, positioned along the inside surface of the jacket so as to be hidden from the outside. The buckle or clip snaps together to hold the jacket opening secured at bottom. When the rip cord is pulled, this has the effect of releasing the buckle, releasing a VELCRO strip that closes the flap at the bottom edge, and opening the zipper to separate the jacket along the opening line, up to just below the arm if desired.

Abstract: Glove for use in weightlifting or other activities in which an object is gripped. The glove has pads of moldable, malleable, substantially cohesive material on the palm and fingers that conforms to the contours of the object and a hand wearing the glove and retains its shape without hardening to provide a firm, solid grip between the hand and the object. The palm section and the finger stalls are fabricated of thin, flexible material, and the pads overlie fleshier parts of the palm and fingers, with gaps between the pads extending along joint lines of the palm and fingers and the elastic material in the gaps providing hinges which flex along the joint lines and allow adjacent ones of the pads to come together to form a substantially continuous gripping surface when the hand and glove are curled about the object.

Abstract: A glove for gripping an object having an inner glove with a lower palm section of relatively non-stretchable material and an upper palm section of relatively stretchable material that overlie the palm side of the hand of person wearing the glove, a back section that overlies the back of the hand, and stalls for receiving the fingers and thumb. An outer panel overlies substantially the entire palm section and is attached to the inner glove along the upper margin of the outer panel and partially or wholly detached from the inner glove along at least one side of the outer panel. The lower margin of the outer panel is also attached to the inner glove in some embodiments, and in others it is secured to the wrist separately from the inner glove. In some disclosed embodiments, the outer panel is fabricated of elastic material that draws the hand toward a closed position for gripping the object.

The user immobilizes the camouflage material by inserting the camouflage material between the retaining mechanism and the clothing, apparel or person of the user.

Abstract: A combination sock and shoe includes a shoe sole, an exterior sock that is secured to the shoe sole, an intermediate sock positioned inside the exterior sock, and an interior sock positioned inside the exterior sock and inside the intermediate sock. The intermediate sock is constructed as an anklet having an elastic ankle opening. The exterior and interior socks conceal the intermediate sock from view by sandwiching the intermediate sock between them. When a wearer's foot is inserted into the combination sock and shoe, the elastic ankle opening of the intermediate sock securely engages around the ankle of the wearer's foot and holds the wearer's foot to the shoe sole, thereby preventing the shoe sole from separating away from the heel of the wearer's foot during walking.

Abstract: There is provided a helmet with an improved cradling function and fitting comfort, while also making the helmet easier to put on or take off. The invention comprises an attaching member and a cushion member. The attaching member has a base member mounted in contact with a shell, and a form-maintaining member disposed at an inner lower section of the base member, there being a space left with respect to the base member. The form-maintaining member, while simultaneously keeping a surface corresponding to the cushion member in a profile following the cheek to the chin portion of a wearer, causes the space to contract as a result of being outwardly displaced in the thickness direction in response to greater-than-normal force applied when a helmet is put on and taken off; and, following the displacement that causes the space to contract, is restored so as to return to an original location under normal circumstances, and kept there.

Abstract: A protective helmet having an inner shell and an outer shell assembly. Internal padding contacts an inner surface of the inner shell and an energy absorbing layer is positioned between the inner shell and the outer shell assembly. The outer shell assembly includes a plurality of rigid, outer shell segments with at least one of the outer shell segments designed and arranged to move relative to the other outer shell segments upon receiving an impact force. The external energy absorbing layer and the outer shell assembly dampens impact energy before it reaches the inner shell.

Abstract: The present invention is a safety harness that is designed for persons who work at elevations 6 feet and above. It incorporates two panels of continuously knitted vertical and horizontal intersecting straps that are sewn together at the front and back to make a one piece half body suit with a zipper placed in the front for easy wear. The primary use will be with a fall arrest system that will connect to a t-shaped loop sewn to the back of the suit. This design gives not only support to the wearer while suspended but protects the femoral artery in case of extended hanging time after a fall by keeping the body in a horizontal position. Fall arrest forces are also distributed over the body, mainly the torso, which leads to better comfort and performance.

Abstract: Apparatus usable with a safety swimming pool incorporating a buoyant submersed rescue floor is described. In one instance, a winch coupling a gear motor to a cable drum via an electrically disengageable clutch is used as a device to re-deploy the buoyant floor to the bottom after a rescue. In another instance a solar powered dedicated power supply is used to power the trigger/sensor subsystem. In yet another instance an electro-mechanical circuit for sensing and triggering a rescue episode is described.

Abstract: A folding mattress support system replaces both a conventional box spring and the bed frame with rails. The mattress support system is lighter, quieter and easier to transport, and also provides more storage space beneath the mattress. The mattress support system includes bed frame assemblies, central connecting bars, edge attachments and a bed skirt. Leg brackets fold out from the bed frame assemblies, which themselves unfold in the middle. Central connecting bars connect inner side edges of the bed frame assemblies. Plastic edge attachments are attached at outer corners of the bed frame assemblies and hold a bed skirt taught around the frame assemblies when the frame assemblies are standing on the extended leg brackets. A mattress is then placed on top of the assembled mattress support system. Abstract: A body support assembly comprising a first layer (e.g., a visco-elastic foam) having a lower surface, and a second layer supporting the first layer and having an upper surface. One of the upper and lower surfaces is defined by a non-planar surface to define a plurality of passages. A fan is positioned to move air through the passages. Preferably, the non-planar surface comprises a plurality of protrusions (e.g., a convoluted surface). The body support can further comprise a sensor that detects a parameter and produces a signal, and a controller coupled to the sensor and programmed to control the fan. Multiple fans and sensors can be provided, and the controller can control the fans to provide different air flows through different locations of the body support assembly. A user interface can be coupled to the controller to allow selection of a desired parameter of the body support assembly.

Abstract: The present invention provides a measuring tool and cutting device for use with metal pipes and tubes. The device provides accurate measurement of a length of pipe and a tool to cut sections thereof. The device comprises a crescent shaped pipe cutter with a measuring portion affixed to its distal end. The measuring portion is a retractable tape measuring device that allows the user to place the cutting tool at a specific distance from an end of the pipe. Once positioned at the desired location, the device grips and secures to the pipe using a scoring blade and two rollers. The measuring tape is then retracted and the user rotates the cutting device around the pipe to score and cut the pipe at that location. The device is small and compact, and may be used in a plurality of situations and locations involving pipes and pipe fitting. It is designed for quick access to a measuring means and for rapidly measuring and scoring sections of pipe.

Abstract: The present invention relates to compositions and methods for wet-cleaning, in professional or household washing machine equipment, and subsequent drying in a tumbler dryer, of garments made of protein-fibers (animal based fibers) such as wool, cashmere, silk and other sensitive fibers. Using water and certain additives instead of organic solvents, these compositions enable the cleaning, including oil stains removal, and subsequent drying without incurring dimensional changes, shrinkage, surface damages, dye or color loss of dry clean only labeled garments or other delicate garments labeled for special care.

Abstract: Ozone laundry systems and related methods are shown and described. In one embodiment, an ozone laundry system includes a washing machine; an ozone generator, a Venturi-injector, a secondary injection device, and an ozone control system (OCS). The washing machine may have a vented drum for holding laundry and a liquid wash bath, and include a plurality of operational configurations. The OCS may be configured to provide ozone to the Venturi-injector when the washing machine is in the fill configuration, and provide ozone to the secondary injection device when the washing machine is in the wash configuration. The result is a system that is able to maintain ozone at a high level for a duration.

Abstract: A washing method and a washing machine, more specifically, to a washing method which improves a washing ability and a washing machine are disclosed. The washing method includes a laundry amount detecting step of detecting the amount of laundry loaded in a drum; and a high head motion step of dropping the laundry by braking the drum after the laundry is lifted over a half of the drum height by rotation of the drum, when the detected amount of the laundry is in a preset range.

Abstract: A bearing retainer plate for fall restraint equipment made from a single, continuous piece of sheet metal, where the metal is lasered, cut, and/or butterflied to define a plurality of apertures. A bearing, preferably possessing a self-centering characteristic, is inserted into one of the apertures, while an adapter or bracket for an over-travel stop is inserted into another. A foot lock stud is inserted into another aperture defined by the bearing retainer plate and welded into place. The piece of metal may also define apertures configured to receive fasteners for attaching the plate to the fall restraint equipment, such as to a support structure of a gangway.

Abstract: A pipeline debris shearing device includes a forwardly positioned, self sharpening, wear compensating, diameter conforming elastomeric member that forms a peeling edge having a negative rake angle to peel away debris from the internal wall of a pipeline. The peeling edge is formed at the point of meeting between a concave-shaped, curved forward face surface and a substantially straight outer peripheral surface. Radial slots may be provided to lessen the force being exerted on the peeling edge and provide for bypass flow to carry away debris removed by the peeling edge. Spaced-apart narrow stripper teeth may be added to help in removing harder deposits of debris. The peeling edge may be arranged substantially perpendicular the central longitudinal axis of the pipeline pig or arranged oblique to it. Further, the peeling edge may spiral about at least a portion of the pipeline pig.

Abstract: A vacuum box in fluid communication with a tractor that removes coatings from surfaces. The vacuum box includes a vacuum inlet in fluid communication with a source of negative pressure and a debris inlet in fluid communication with the tractor so that debris is drawn into and collected within a hollow interior of the vacuum box. A water outlet provides a drain for water that collects within the vacuum box. A sloped false bottom wall is disposed within the hollow interior so that debris collects atop it. The vacuum box is emptied by draining water from it, followed by opening a door formed in the vacuum box at the lower end of the sloped false bottom wall so that the collected debris slides down the false bottom wall and out the door into a debris receptacle.
