Publication number: 20120067208Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymer. Such high molecular weight, monoesterified polyimide polymers are useful in forming crosslinked polymer membranes for the separation of fluid mixtures. According to its broadest aspect, the method of making a crosslinked membrane comprises the following steps: (a) preparing a polyimide polymer comprising carboxylic acid functional groups from a reaction solution comprising monomers and at least one solvent; (b) treating the polyimide polymer with a diol at esterification conditions in the presence of dehydrating conditions to form a monoesterified polyimide polymer; and (c) subjecting the monoesterified fiber to transesterification conditions to form a crosslinked fiber membrane, wherein the dehydrating conditions at least partially remove water produced during step (b). The crosslinked membranes can be used to separate at least one component from a feed stream including more than one component.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 28, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicants: Georgia Tech Research Corporation, Chevron U.S.A. Publication number: 20120067213Abstract: A method, apparatus and system for minimizing a quantity of particulate matter entrained within a gas stream is provided. A course filter removes at least a portion of particulate matter having a relatively-large particle size from the gas stream. An agglomerator agglomerates particulate matter having a relatively-small particle size remaining in the gas stream into particulate clusters after the portion of the particulate matter having the relatively-large particle size has been removed by the course filter. An injector introduces an agglomerating material into the gas stream before the gas stream enters the agglomerator. The agglomerating material promotes agglomeration of the particulate matter having the relatively-small particle size into the particulate clusters. And a second filter receives the gas stream and removes at least a portion of the particulate clusters entrained within the gas stream exiting the agglomerator.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 21, 2010Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicant: General Electric CompanyInventors: Bradley Stephen Rogers, James Easel Roberts

Publication number: 20120067214Abstract: Cyclones with electrostatically enhanced recirculation, comprising a collector cyclone and an entry for dirty gases, located upstream from a recirculator and a central exhaust channel (CEC) for exhausting cleaned gases. Cyclones are placed in series and have a recirculation line from the concentrator to the collector to recirculate part of the gas stream. Recirculator has means for applying a high voltage producing an ionizing electric field driving particles away from CEC, without significant particle deposition on recirculator walls. Current density in the recirculator field is below 0.1 mA/m.2 Average electric field is below 2×I05 V/m. Particles are driven away from CEC in the recirculator by joint action of mechanical/electrical forces, the latter deriving from particles traversing the ionized field, concentrating them in the fraction of gas stream recycled back to the collector cyclone, where a part is captured. Uses include dedusting, dry gas cleaning (for acid gases), and capturing bacteria.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 30, 2009Publication date: March 22, 2012Inventor: Romualdo Luis Ribera Salcedo

The amount of the polysilazane in the reaction system for forming the covering film is 0.4 parts by mass or less based on 1 part by mass of the aluminum pigment, and the total addition amount of the polysilazane is from 0.2 to 0.6 parts by mass based on 1 part by mass of the aluminum pigment.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 29, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Inventors: Takayoshi KAGATA, Tsuyoshi Sano, Fukui Toshimi, Kawasaki Hideki

Publication number: 20120067250Abstract: A dosing bag for additives that are mixed into a cementitious mixture, wherein the dosing bag is made from a dissolvable starch-based film material. When the dissolving dosing bag with its contents are introduced into a mixture that uses water as an ingredient, the dosing bag dissolves at a particular rate such that the additives are released into the mixture in an even manner. The dosing bag has structural features that enable it to dissolve and release material over an extended period of time. Consequently, the material in the dissolving dosing bag is not released as a clump, but is rather released in a manner that ensures is even distribution during mixing. When the additives are more evenly dispensed throughout a mixture, the quality of the final product is greatly improved.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 20, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Inventor: Paul E. Publication number: 20120067251Abstract: The invention provides an expansive material that allows for large expansion of concrete at a material age of 2 to 7 days after pouring and permits concrete to have higher initial compressive strength and makes sure good storage stability, and a process for preparing that expansive material. The invention provides an expansive material and a process for preparing that expansive material, characterized in that clinker or pulverized clinker containing free lime, a hydraulic compound and calcium sulfate anhydrite is heat treated in a carbon dioxide gas atmosphere to form calcium carbonate in it. Preferably, the expansive material contains a particle in which the free lime, hydraulic compound, calcium sulfate anhydrite and calcium carbonate are all present; the content of calcium carbonate is 0.5 to 10% by mass; and the expansive material has a Blaine's specific surface area of 1,500 to 90,000 cm2/g. The expansive material is blended with cement into a cement composition.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 20, 2010Publication date: March 22, 2012Inventors: Takayuki Higuchi, Taiichiro Mori, Hideaki Ishida, Ryoetsu Yoshino, Minoru Morioka
