Abstract: A covering for providing watertight protection to an appendage comprises a hollow enclosure, an adhesive band, a first liner, and a second liner. The hollow enclosure is dimensioned to slide over the appendage and defines an open end surrounded by a region of the hollow enclosure that is folded back on itself to form a cuff. The adhesive band runs along substantially the entire cuff. Lastly, the first liner covers a first portion of the adhesive band, and the second liner covers a second portion of the adhesive band.

Abstract: A clothing ensemble for use in water includes a swimsuit and an undergarment that is independent from the swimsuit and that is worn at least partially beneath the swimsuit. The undergarment includes at least a pair of leg panels and a center panel that extends between the pair of leg panels. The leg panels are coupled to the center panel only by a forward seam and a rear seam that each extend from an inner portion of a wearer's first thigh to an inner portion of the wearer's second thigh. The center panel includes at least one pouch formed therein that is configured to dispense powder towards the wearer. The undergarment is fabricated from a non-rubberized material woven that induces tension to the wearer and that enables the undergarment to conform to the wearer. The pair of leg panels each include a leg band.

Abstract: A ballistic vest carrier cover has a mantle that goes over the wearer's shoulders from the front waist to rear waist. It has a fabric outer layer, an interlining heat-fused to the back of the outer layer, and a liner. The cover is designed to fit over a pullover shirt so the combination appears as a standard uniform shirt. The liner attaches to the outer layer at the front and rear waist, neck, and along the sides from front armor openings to rear armor openings, thereby producing front and rear pockets for receiving the body armor panel carriers through the armor openings. The front of the mantle attaches to the rear at the waist by zippers. One zipper component is on a stretch panel that extends from the outer layer at the rear armor opening and the other zipper component is on the outer layer at the front armor opening.

Abstract: Multilayer elastomeric articles and methods of making the same are disclosed in which the outside or outer distal surface of the article is a different color or otherwise visually distinct in appearance from the inside or wearer contacting surface of the article so that the user of the article can readily identify the article as a multilayer elastomeric article. In one aspect, elastomer emulsions, solvent solutions, or plastisols used to form each layer may be modified with the addition of base color and/or colorant components in order to form a colored or patterned layer. In another aspect, one or both of the surfaces of the elastomeric articles (or layers of the articles) may be coated with such a colorant component to sufficiently visually distinguish the layers from each other.

Abstract: An ear warmer comprises a frame disposed within a cavity of a shell. The frame includes a band portion and an ear portion. The ear portion includes an inner side disposed adjacent a head of a user when the ear warmer is worn by a user. In one embodiment, the ear portion is curved toward the inner side of the ear portion. In one embodiment, the ear portion is configured to flex when the ear warmer is disposed on a head of a user.

Abstract: Clothing such as shorts is capable of preventing seamlines between the left and right edges of a back body and the left and right edges of a front body respectively as well as the edges of back high-thigh-size portions of high-thigh size portions from adversely affecting the appearance of an outer garment worn thereover. Seamlines between left and right edges of a front body and left and right edges of a back body are positioned on both left and right sides of the front/back of the clothing respectively so as to come to the parts on both sides of the hips of a person. The edge of a back high-thigh-size portion of a high-thigh size portion is formed in a seamless hem manner, in a free cut, or in an overcast stitch for preventing the edge from fraying out.

Abstract: Sock structure that is especially useful in applying a cold pack to a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy treatment, and a method of applying a cold pack to a wearer (e.g. a cancer patient undergoing chemotherapy treatment), using the sock structure. The sock structure comprises a sock body that includes (i) a foot portion configured to cover substantially all of the wearer's foot, (ii) a leg portion configured to cover a portion of the wearer's ankle and leg, and (iii) a turned heel that provides an angular (turned) junction between the foot and leg portions. Moreover, the sock structure comprises a pocket integral with the sock body and located along predetermined portions of the bottom of the foot portion and the turned heel.

Abstract: The present invention is directed to a protective hat suitable for every day wear by infants, children, senior citizens or physically disabled individuals. Such hat protects at least the sides, top or rear of the wearer's head from injuries due to falls or bumps against bard objects while conducting routine, daily activities. Generally, the head protector of the present invention may comprise: (1) a cap member; and (2) one or more flexible, resilient shock absorbent pads. The cap member may be constructed so as to fully enclose and/or encapsulate the one or more pads.

Abstract: Methods and apparatus are provided for protecting the external ear from the elements, heat, cold, wind, rain and/or snow. In some embodiments, an ear protector comprises a conforming anchor with an opening through which the external ear may be passed. The ear protector further comprises an insulating outer covering that, in combination with the anchor, forms the ear protector with a chamber positioned between the outer covering and the anchor. During use, the chamber is configured to receive the external ear, with the anchor's opening conformably positioned in proximity to at least a portion of the ear's root. The perimeter of the conforming anchor's opening resiliently deforms during passage of the external ear through the opening and into the chamber, and then conforms to the geometry of at least a portion of the ear root in order to securely and comfortably maintain the ear protector in position over the external ear without additional external support.

Abstract: An impact sensing device including a plurality of accelerometers orthogonally oriented with respect to each other and attachable at a body location, each capable of producing a signal indicative of an impact. An integrated circuit is configured to determine the magnitude and direction of the impact based on the signals and operative to activate an indicator when the magnitude exceeds a selected threshold based on the direction of the impact. A head injury coefficient is determined based on the magnitude and a duration of the impact, and the threshold level of acceleration is expressed in terms of a head injury coefficient value. The head injury coefficient value is determined by empirically correlating a head injury coefficient measured at the body location and a head injury coefficient measured at the center of mass of a human head resulting from an impact.

Abstract: A strap attachment for a helmet with a chin strap, a male quarter turn fastening member, a female quarter turn fastening member, a female fastening member cover plate and a polyfoam padding block. The chin strap has a plurality of apertures. The male fastening member has a dome shaped top portion and a centrally located post attached to its underside. The dome shape is trimmed inwardly creating a secure finger gripping location. The post terminates in an arrow shape. The female fastening member is attached to the inside wall of the sports helmet. The helmet wall has an aperture aligning with the the male and female fastening member location. The cover plate placed over the female fastening member. The padding block covers the female fastening member cover. The male fastening member inserted into the female member and turned ninety degrees to lock the two fasteners together.

Abstract: Nonwoven safety garments are described. Features of the stitching of some embodiments limit the number of particulates emitted from seams between cut edges. Attachments features may be included on the garments to enable secure, external attachment of measuring equipment. Doffing features, such as loops, are provided to help the wearer safely remove the garment, either by helping her pull off part or all of the garment or by starting to separate closure devices. In some embodiments, a repositionable closure on a neck flap covers the neck up to the bottom of a face mask or respirator, and a grasping tab helps the wearer safely open the repositionable closure and the neck flap.

Abstract: A foldable, hanging urinal includes a back surface, hooks and a receptacle. The foldable hanging urinal folds flat for transportation, inventory and disposal. Hooks on the back of the foldable hanging urinal fold out and the foldable hanging urinal hangs on a toilet fixture. The receptacle folds out to form a watertight cup during use and the cup is positioned at a height lower than the rim of the toilet fixture thereby enabling urination by a person that is too short to reach the rim of the toilet fixture.

Abstract: A sink drain accessory is provided for assisting a user with disposal of waste materials into a sink drain, while preventing solid objects within the sink from entering the drain. The device comprises a hollow conduit, a funnel portion attached to the upper edge thereof, a sealing rim and sealing rails to provide liquid seals within the drain and maintain the device in a balanced position, along with a plunger tool. The sealing rim is horizontally disposed along the base of the hollow conduit, while the sealing rails are vertically disposed around the outer surface of the hollow conduit. Drain apertures are positioned above the sealing rim to allow liquid to flow from the sink and into the device. Liquid and solid waste may be placed within the funnel portion of the device by a user and pushed down into the sink drain with the aid of the plunger tool.

Abstract: An assembly for initiating flushing of a toilet includes a handle and a bushing. The handle includes an axially extending stem that defines an axis of rotation. The bushing is configured to rotatably couple the handle to a tank of the toilet and includes a passage with the stem of the handle received therein. The handle defines two or more annular handle surfaces that are configured to cooperatively engage two or more annular bushing surfaces for rotation of the handle relative to the bushing about the axis.

Abstract: A secondary toilet reservoir water shutoff system and method for use in the water tank of a toilet assembly. The secondary toilet reservoir water shutoff having a beneficial use with toilets to prevent the wasting of water in a failing system. The secondary toilet reservoir water shutoff being activated by a toilet flush handle causing rotation of a timing device thereby opening of a secondary valve for a period of time allowing for the passage of water, the time determined by the degree of rotation of the timing device.

The mechanism includes: a water tank bottom plate that contains a lower leading pole and a second pulley, the tank wall having an aperture and a first pulley; an upper cover plate having an upper leading pole and a third pulley; a hollow floating box with either a rectangular or circular cross section wherein its center is equipped with a leading hole, a limiting barrier, a first hoist ring and a second hoist ring; a base plate that having a fourth pulley; and a top cover plate.

Abstract: A sanitary washing apparatus includes a nozzle having a water discharge port, the nozzle being configured to wash a human private part by squirting water from the water discharge port, a flow channel configured to supply the water to the nozzle, a sterilizing water supply unit provided partway through the flow channel, the sterilizing water supply unit being capable of supplying sterilizing water, and a control unit configured to execute a physical washing process of washing the nozzle using water and a sterilizing process of sterilizing the nozzle using the sterilizing water after the washing the human private part. The washing nozzle can be sterilized more efficiently or a user's sense of cleanliness regarding the washing nozzle can be improved.

Abstract: A spa pool assembly has a pool having an enclosing wall and a base that together defines an interior. The base has a plurality of inflatable sections that are divided by a plurality of air passages that includes a first air passage that has a plurality of small bubble openings, and a second air passage that has a plurality of large bubble openings. The small bubble openings eject bubbles that are smaller in size than the bubbles ejected from the large bubble openings. The spa pool assembly can also include a bubble controller that controls the ejection of bubbles from the small bubble openings and the large bubble openings.

Abstract: A lightweight submersible stanchion is disclosed that provides a lightweight yet durable mounting system that will allow pool users to support a wide variety of accessories such as a stool, table, ice bucket or wine cooler bucket, or volleyball/badminton net, for example. The submersible stanchion includes a pedestal base, and a column which includes an accessory attachment element. The pedestal base and/or the column can fill with water upon being submerged. The column couples to the accessory attachment element at a distal end to the pedestal base and extends in a perpendicular direction from the base. The accessory attachment element couples to a distal end, which may be located below, at or above the surface of the swimming pool. In some embodiments, the submersible stanchion can further include detachable weights, for added stability, for example.

Abstract: A mobile salon chair and work station is described. The work station includes a container with a seat, backrest, and applicable electrical components. Also described is a mobile shampoo bowl. The shampoo bowl includes a container for holding the shampoo bowl. The shampoo bowl has a drain and is attached such that it can extend or telescope from the container. A clean water bladder is attached with the container and has a pump, hose, and spray head to allow a user to pump water from the clean water bladder, through the hose and spray head, and to be spread into the shampoo bowl. Finally, a dirty water bladder is connected with a drain of the shampoo bowl to collect water passing through the shampoo bowl.

Abstract: A tile-ready shower basin, and methods of manufacturing and installing the same. A sloped structural core is provided having a topside and a bottom side. A first waterproof panel or coating is applied to the topside and a second waterproof panel or coating is applied to the bottom side. A thin fiberglass flange is provided about at least a portion of the perimeter of the core to create a lip. The basin further includes a first hole or recess formed into the basin, which does not extend through the basin, and a second hole, axially aligned with the first, which does extend through the basin, for directly receiving and coupling a drain therein.

Abstract: An undermount sink system is provided for mounting beneath a countertop having an upper counter surface. The undermount sink system includes a sink basin and a discharge conduit coupled to the sink basin, which is positioned to expel fluid into the sink basin via an outlet thereof. The discharge conduit and basin are configured to mount to the countertop entirely below the upper counter surface. The flow of fluid through the discharge conduit may be activated via a motion sensor or switch coupled directly to the basin or a spacer ring positioned between the basin and the countertop. Controls for adjusting the temperature and/or flow rate of fluid through the discharge conduit may also be coupled to the basin or a spacer ring positioned between the basin and the countertop, or alternatively, to a surface of the countertop. Methods of making and using undermount sink systems are also provided.

In each pair, one guide is oriented so as to be substantially vertical and the other guide is disposed at an angle to the first guide. A lift assembly is located in each guide. A support including a frame is coupled to the lift assemblies. A drive system moves the lift assemblies in two directions, thereby lowering and raising the support. As the support is raised, it moves from a substantially horizontal orientation to a non-horizontal orientation.

Abstract: An inventive mats system is provided in which a towel can be removed and changed when desired. The mat system can manipulated into a rolled configuration. When rolled, a logo on the bottom of the base mat is visible. Elastic straps are used to keep the mat in the rolled configuration for easy toting and storage.

Abstract: A fitted bed sheet attachment and securing system that allows for the coupling of sheet to mattress as disclosed. The bed sheet of the present invention comprises a sheet base with at least one sheet corner harboring a notched edge bordering sheet sides that is configured in a reverse L-shaped fashion. The notched edge is characterized by a hook and latch system where a male closure strip is adhered to one leg of the right angle and a female closure strip is adhered to the opposite leg of the right angle. The sheet also consists of sheet extensions that project away from the sheet base and sides. These sheet extensions also contain male and female hook and latch type closures that are designed to mate with one another.

Abstract: An operating room table adapter is disclosed herein for use with a surgical table includes an adapter board, a rail receiver, and a rail assembly. The adapter board includes a slot formed in the adapter board and a strap extending through the slot. The adapter board has a first side including a first coupler. The first coupler is configured to engage a coupler of the surgical table and the strap is configured to wrap around at least a portion of the surgical table. The rail assembly extends beyond an edge of the adapter board and is operable to couple to a patient support.

Abstract: A patient support is connectable to an external power source. The patient support includes a bedframe supported on a floor, a plurality of wheels coupled to the bedframe, and a brake configured to prevent the bed from moving on the floor. The brake is moveable between a braked position and an unbraked position. The patient support also includes a controller configured to activate an alarm when the brake is moved to the unbraked position when the bed is connected to the external power source.

Abstract: A patient support apparatus includes a frame having a patient support deck that is movable between a horizontal position to support a patient in a lying position and a chair egress position to support the patient in a sitting position. Depending upon a height of the patient, a lift system is operated to support the patient support deck relative to an underlying floor at different heights when the patient support deck is moved to the chair egress position. Depending upon a weight of the patient, at least one bladder of a mattress is either deflated or further inflated when the patient support deck is moved to the chair egress position and the patient is in the process of egressing from the patient support apparatus.

Abstract: A hospital bed includes a base, an upper frame supported above the base, and a deck supported on the upper frame. The deck has head, seat, thigh, and foot sections. The deck is movable between a horizontal position to support a patient in a supine position and a chair egress position to support the patient in a sitting position. The hospital bed further has a seat section actuator to articulate the seat section relative to the upper frame about an axis located adjacent a foot end of the seat section such that a head end of the seat section lifts upwardly relative to the upper frame to facilitate egress of the patient from the deck when the deck is in the chair egress position.

The chin wrap includes a chin pad adapted to cover the bottom of a patient's chin and a chin band having a first portion and a second portion extending from the chin pad to form a second closed loop around a patient's head.

Abstract: A surgical head support apparatus includes a headrest, a bracket, and a joint member. The headrest includes a first spherical joint and the bracket includes a second spherical joint. The joint member includes a joint lock. The joint member couples the headrest to the bracket. The joint lock moves the joint member between a locked and an unlocked configuration. In the locked configuration, the joint member disallows movement of the headrest relative to the bracket. In the unlocked configuration, the joint member allows movement of the headrest relative to the bracket.

Abstract: A meditation seating cushion. The seating cushion may comprise a first cushion portion, a second cushion portion separate from the first cushion portion, and a strap connecting the first and second cushion portions together. A single seating cushion portion has a substantially planar bottom surface and a substantially semi-cylindrical top surface. The cushion portions are used for disposition on a support surface such as a floor or mat, each cushion portion being underneath one of the user's buttocks, for seating the user so as to avoid imposing stress on that region of the user's bottom including the anus, perineum, and vagina or scrotum.

Abstract: The present inventors disclose a bed comprising a bed insert and a base. An insert comprises one or more openable loops which can receive medical tubing or other types of medical lines. In some configurations, the one or more openable loops can be reversibly attached to the insert. An insert can be attached to the base by a reversible attachment such as Velcro. A patient, along with an insert, can be lifted from the base. A patient who has medical lines which extend through the loops can be lifted with the insert from the base without disrupting connections between the medical lines and the patient.

Abstract: A baby crib rail device is provided for assisting an infant with relieving pain associated with teething. The device comprises a plurality of crib rail covers removably secure to the guardrail of a child's crib or playpen. Rail covers consist of channels having an inverted “U” shaped cross-section. The covers are secured to an infant crib guardrail by placing the rail through the open bottom of a crib rail cover and pushing downward to secure its location. Sections of rail cover are removably securable to each other in an end-to-end structure that results in an elongated crib rail cover. The covers may be constructed of a soft, durable, sanitizable material such as rubber or plastic. The surfaces of the different rail covers may have a variety of surface contours to provide different types of gum stimulation for teething infants. Rail covers may be arranged in any desired configuration according to the needs or interests of a child.

A plurality of hollows may be defined in the cover portion when inflated to define a body contact area that is less than a surface area of the top surface.

Abstract: A zoned foam mattress includes an upper foam layer and a zoned foam layer. The lower side of the upper foam layer is adjacent to the upper side of the zoned foam layer. The zoned foam layer has first, second and third lateral regions with the second region being disposed between the first region and the third region. The first lateral region is disposed at the head end of the mattress. The first and third lateral regions are formed from high-density polyurethane foam (HD foam), whereas the second lateral region is formed from visco-elastic polyurethane foam (memory foam). A person's shoulder can sink farther into the second lateral region than into the first or third lateral regions even if all of the lateral regions have the same indentation load deflection (ILD). By allowing a person's shoulders and hips to sink into memory foam regions, the person's spine is kept straight.

The powered brush comprises a handle having a top end, a bottom end and a longitudinal axis therebetween. A brush head comprises a plurality of bristles projecting away from the top end in a longitudinal direction is attached to a brush cup which is disposed at the top end of the handle and is movable relative thereto. An internal mechanism couples a motor drive shaft to the brush cup. The internal mechanism translates rotational movement of the motor drive shaft to reciprocating motion of the brush cup causing the brush cup and corresponding brush head attached thereto to oscillate linearly in the longitudinal direction.

The oral care implement includes a housing; a carrier element mounted for movement relative to the housing; and a locking assembly for preventing separation of the carrier element from the housing.
