Abstract: A vehicle has an exhaust aftertreatment system including an LNT. The vehicle operates through a series of ignition cycles, deNOX cycles, and deSOX cycles. DeNOX operations begin when the LNT reaches a loading threshold. The applicable threshold depends on operating conditions, such as mean LNT temperature and mean exhaust flow rate. The thresholds are adapted based on NOX removal efficiency data. The data is compared to target values. The target values depend on the operating condition range, but remain fixed while the thresholds are adapted. NOX removal efficiency is measured over intervals corresponding to entire deNOX cycles. The data is sorted into bins according to operating conditions. The adaptations are only made if a bin has several data points accumulated over a minimum interval that is at least one ignition or deSOX cycle, preferably several. The method provides stable adaptations that compensate for aging.

Abstract: A thermoelectric converter includes one or more thermoelectric converter modules. A thermoelectric converter module includes spatially delimited gas volumes interconnected by a regenerator in a gas-permeable manner. During operation of the thermoelectric converter, a first gas volume warmer than the ambient temperature or a fluid flow is heated, and a second gas volume is cooler than the first gas volume. A fluid flow is thermally coupled with the second gas volume to dissipate heat. A volume change element suited to change the size of one or more of the gas volumes can be moved or deformed by an electromagnetic component by creating a magnetic field such that the size of at least one of the gas volumes is changed.

Abstract: A method for controlling a combustion process, in particular in a firing chamber of a fossil-fired steam generator, is provided. The method includes determining spatially resolved measuring values in the firing chamber. Spatially resolved measuring values are transformed into state variables that may be used for control engineering, and they are subsequently fed as actual values to control circuits. The changes in the controlled variables determined in the control circuits are divided among a plurality of actuators in a backward transformation considering an optimization target. A corresponding combustion system is also provided.

Abstract: In a gas turbine combustor and a gas turbine, an air passage (54) that supplies combustion high-pressure air, a pilot nozzle (44), a main fuel nozzle (45), and a top hat nozzle (47) that supply fuel, and openings (64) that supply film air (cooling air) are provided with respect to a combustor inner cylinder (42), and contraction members (71, 72, and 73) are arranged along a circumferential direction on an inner wall surface in a downstream of a flow direction of combustion gas in the inner cylinder (42). The contraction members (71, 72, and 73) are provided in a predetermined area in the circumferential direction excluding penetrating portions (74, 75, and 76), which do not disturb the flow of cooling air, thereby enabling to suppress generation of carbon monoxide and the like and to suppress the occurrence of unstable combustion.
