Abstract: Disclosed is a burner for particulate fuel, in particular made of biomass, with a primary tube and a core tube arranged in the primary tube. The primary tube and the core tube form a primary tube gap and the primary tube gap is configured to guide a flow of particulate fuel and gaseous combustion means from an inlet-side end to an outlet-side opening of the primary tube. In order to prevent the drawbacks occurring when using coarse-grain particles, preferably biomass, as a fuel for dust firing, or at least to reduce them without having to accept an increased outlay for equipment and/or additional energy losses, at least one device is provided for centring the flow within the primary tube in the region of the outlet-side end of the primary tube.

Abstract: A burner using biomass combustibles, namely pellet fuel, for a maple syrup evaporator. Compared to wood or oil burning heat sources, pellet fuel is less costly, burns more efficiently and generates the heat necessary to properly evaporate maple sap. The burner includes a burn pit defining a plurality of holes for allowing air to communicate between a combustion chamber and a primary air plenum formed between a base and an underside of the burn pit. An air supply conduit supplies air supply to the primary air plenum. A fuel conduit in communication with the combustion chamber supplies the pellet fuel for combustion within said burn pit. A secondary plenum in pneumatic communication with the primary air plenum receives and cools a portion of the primary air supply. A plurality of injectors in communication with the secondary plenum inject the cooled air into the combustion chamber.

Abstract: Sorbent components containing halogen, calcium, alumina, and silica are used in combination during coal combustion to produce environmental benefits. Sorbents such as calcium bromide are added to the coal ahead of combustion and other components are added into the flame or downstream of the flame, preferably at minimum temperatures to assure complete formation of the refractory structures that result in various advantages of the methods. When used together, the components reduce emissions of elemental and oxidized mercury; increase the level of Hg, As, Pb, and/or Cl in the coal ash; decrease the levels of leachable heavy metals (such as Hg) in the ash, preferably to levels below the detectable limits; and make a highly cementitious ash product.

Abstract: Methods are provided for the volumetric reduction of organic liquids. The methods comprise admixing a porous matrix material with an organic liquid to produce a mixture, forcing oxidant through the mixture, and initiating a self-sustaining smoldering combustion of the mixture. Additional embodiments aggregate the organic liquid or porous matrix material or mixture thereof in an impoundment such as a reaction vessel, lagoon or matrix pile. Further embodiments utilize at least one heater to initiate combustion and at least one air supply port to supply oxidant to initiate and maintain combustion. Yet further embodiments comprise the batch addition of a fuel additive to the aggregate prior to smoldering to ensure that the ensuing smoldering combustion is self-sustaining or of the required temperature to reduce or remove other contaminants in the matrix or organic liquid such as heavy metals or asbestos.

Abstract: A self-priming diaphragm pump is connected to a circuit board which activates the self-priming diaphragm pump at predetermined intervals, e.g., for 1-3 seconds. When the self-priming diaphragm pump is activated, the circuit board senses the amperage draw from the pump's motor and either continues to run the pump or stops the pump depending on the different amperage levels read. If there is water present in the bilge, the motor is working harder, requiring more amperage and circuit board keeps the pump running. If there is no water present for the pump to draw, the amperage load is very low and the circuit board shuts the pump off, retesting it in the predetermined interval.

Abstract: Strategies for tool designs and their uses wherein the tools can operate in either closed or open modes of operation. The tools easily transition between open and closed modes on demand. According to one general strategy, environmentally controlled pathway(s) couple the ambient to one or more process chambers. Air amplification capabilities upstream from the process chamber(s) allow substantial flows of air to be introduced into the process chamber(s) on demand. Alternatively, the fluid pathways are easily closed, such as by simple valve actuation, to block egress to the ambient through these pathways. Alternative flows of nonambient fluids can then be introduced into the process chamber(s) via pathways that are at least partially in common with the pathways used for ambient air introduction. In other strategies, gap(s) between moveable components are sealed at least with flowing gas curtains rather than by relying only upon direct physical contact for sealing.

Abstract: In certain embodiments, a system includes a front wall, a rear wall positioned substantially parallel to the front wall, and first and second side walls each extending between the front wall and the rear wall. The first side wall includes a gate, and the second side wall is spaced apart from the first side wall such that the front wall, the rear wall, the first side wall, and the second side wall define a milking box stall of a size sufficient to accommodate a dairy livestock. The system includes an equipment portion located adjacent to the rear wall. The equipment portion houses a robotic attacher configured to extend between the rear legs of a dairy livestock located within the milking box stall in order to attach milking equipment to the dairy livestock.

Abstract: In a milking cluster of teat cups, each teat cup has a port in the form of a nozzle disposed in the head portion of the flexible liner of the teat cup. The milking cluster includes a distributor having a fluid inlet and outlets connected to the nozzles of the cups. The distributor inlet is connected to a delivery line for supplying sanitising treatment fluid, which is utilised to treat the teats and teat cups in a cleansing cycle following the milking cycle, by a second valve operable to maintain the delivery line primed with treatment fluid preparatory to initiation of the cleansing cycle. A safety valve is disposed at the distributor inlet, the safety valve being operable during a milking cycle to open a drain port through which treatment fluid may flow to waste.

Abstract: A dual axes swivel connector for connecting various panels to assemble a pet enclosure is disclosed. The dual axes swivel connector allows panels of the enclosure to be reliably pivoted with respect to each other. The dual axes swivel connector may comprise first and second parts. The first part may be fabricated from a flexible material compared to the second part, whereas the second part may be fabricated from a more rigid material compared to the first part. The flexibility of the first part allows the first part to have a tighter fit with the wire rods. The second part has a looser fit with the wire rods but the rigidity of the second part compensates for the looser fit. When the first and second parts are interlocked, they create a tight fit which can reliably provide a hinge between the panels.

Abstract: A Kinetic, reconfigurable modular structure having hollow track sub-components and an internal motioning device(s). The invention employs multiples of 1-5 unique modular hollow track part(s), each connecting to one another. A more basic version would use one repeatable, multi-positional modular track part. Both versions employ at least one internal motioning device(s). These modules connect securely to one another to create a multitude of 3-dimensional, rollercoaster-like tubular structures. The outer structure along with the internal motioning device(s) will easily rock or roll to and fro. The track modules assemble to create end-to-end structures or continuous loop structures where the internal device navigates throughout the structure. A continuous slot can be incorporated into the track modules to allow for unobstructed contact with the internal device. The internal device(s) can be battery powered thus allowing for self-propelled motion, vibration, sound, and/or lights.

Abstract: The present invention relates to an animal training apparatus having multiple receivers equipped with light emitting units. The animal training apparatus is configured such that a single level setting switch and a plurality of receiver selection switches are provided on a transmitter, so that the vibration or shock levels of the receivers are adjusted, thus simplifying the structure of the animal training apparatus and allowing a trainer to easily manipulate the animal training apparatus. Further, three LED units implemented as three LEDs of red, green and blue colors are installed on each of the receivers and emit lights corresponding to a plurality of colors by combining red, green and blue colors, thus enabling the locations of dogs that are being trained to be easily detected when the dogs are trained outdoors in the evening or at night.
