In some embodiments, the present invention includes incorporating the Three-dimensional Surfaces with electrical interconnects and energization elements into an insert for incorporation into ophthalmic Lenses. In some embodiments, the formed insert may be directly used as an ophthalmic Lens.

Abstract: The present invention is a charged-particle gun (EG) in which a negative electrode (1) and a positive electrode (9) are integrated and assembled in advance, and which can be stored and transported in a state in which the negative electrode and the positive electrode are integrated, wherein the negative electrode and the positive electrode are connected by a conductor (11) during storage and transportation of the charged-particle gun. It is thereby possible to prevent an electrode tip of the charged-particle gun from being damaged by electrical discharge caused by static electricity during storage and transportation.

Abstract: Disclosed is an apparatus for detaching a component from a mounting surface to which the component is attached by an adhesive. The apparatus includes a right-angled hook, a curved hook, a connecting body and an adjusting member. On one side of the component, the right-angled hook protrudes into a first space between the component and the mounting surface. On another side of the component, the curved hook protrudes into a second space between the component and the mounting surface. The connecting body connects the right-angled hook and the curved hook. In response to a thermal process, the adhesion of the adhesive is reduced, and an adjustment of the adjusting member allows the curved hook to provide a shear force in order to detach the component from the mounting surface. A method for detaching a component from a mounting surface is also disclosed.

The circuit board includes a ceramic substrate, and a circuit pattern formed on a surface of the ceramic substrate. The circuit board is sinter-bonded to a main body of the heat-dissipating device. The feedthru may include a feedthru housing including a header side and a can side, a core within the feedthru housing, a generally planar electrically conductive interface adjacent the can side, and a feedthru wire extending through the core. The feedthru wire may include an interface end and a header end, wherein the header end extends from the header side and the interface end is at least one of generally flush with the generally planar interface and generally recessed relative to the generally planar interface.

A base material having a core layer, a first patterned copper layer, a second patterned copper layer and at least one conductive via is provided. The first and second patterned copper layers are respectively located on a first surface and a second surface of the core layer. The conductive via passes through the core layer and connects the first and second patterned copper layers. A first and a second solder mask layers are respectively formed on the first and second surfaces. Portions of the first and second patterned copper layers are exposed by the first and second solder mask layers, respectively. A first gold layer is formed on the first and second patterned copper layers exposed by the first and second solder mask layers. A nickel layer and a second gold layer are successively formed on the first gold layer.

Abstract: A method for electrically conductively connecting the electrical conductors (3, 4) of two high voltage cables (1, 2) is provided. The conductors (3, 4) are exposed at their ends by removing the respective casing and they are then inserted from different sides into a pipe piece (5) in such a way that they rest against each other with their end faces extending perpendicular to their axis and level with the central throughholes. The conductors (3, 4) are then secured by means of the securing screws (6) in the pipe piece 5 and bores extending in radial direction are made through the throughholes into which the two conductors (3, 4) project in the area of their end faces. Finally, the contact screws of an electrically well conductive metal are screwed into the central throughholes and further into the bores.

Abstract: According to one aspect of the invention, a method for servicing a combustor cap assembly of a turbine includes determining a defect is present in a center ring of the cap assembly, the center ring being disposed within a plurality of vanes, removing the center ring from the cap assembly. The method also includes placing a replacement center ring in the cap assembly, wherein dimensions of the replacement center ring are substantially the same as the center ring that has been removed and brazing the replacement center ring to the plurality of vanes.

Abstract: A method of assembling a prosthetic heart valve includes providing a collapsible and expandable stent having an annulus section and an aortic section. The annulus section has a first diameter in a relaxed condition and a second diameter less than the first diameter in a collapsed condition. A constraint is applied to the stent to constrain the annulus section to a predetermined diameter between the first and second diameters. Applying a cuff and/or a plurality of leaflets to the stent in the constrained condition enables less material to be used. The resultant prosthetic valve is therefore able to be collapsed to a smaller diameter for introduction into a patient.

In an engaged condition, the drive plates, a secondary spindle, a blade mount and a circular saw blade spin with the saw motor spindle. In a disengaged condition, the first drive plate spins with the saw motor spindle while the second drive plate, secondary spindle, blade mount and saw blade are disengaged from the first drive plate and the saw motor spindle. A biasing mechanism presses the second drive plate towards the first drive plate. A further biasing mechanism may press the second plate towards the first plate with more force when the plates are coupled than when decoupled.

The apparatus is constructed using corrosion resistant substances. A method is provided for using the same to measure a section of a creature. In one example, a lobster gauge is provided to measure a carapace for determining compliance with governmental regulations.

Abstract: A method of making a honeycomb structure comprises the step of providing a honeycomb body including a first end face and a second end face, wherein the honeycomb body includes a ceramic and/or a ceramic-forming material. The method further includes the step of providing a first non-metallic extension and a second non-metallic extension along a longitudinal axis of the honeycomb body. The first non-metallic extension is positioned with respect to the first end face and the second non-metallic extension is positioned with respect to the second end face. The method further includes the step of exposing the honeycomb body and the non-metallic extensions to microwaves to dry the honeycomb body.

Abstract: A method for diminishing variation between and/or within individual sheets of filter papers which are suitable for collecting samples of biological material, e.g. blood, is described. The method includes at least one of the following: subjecting the sheets of filter paper to gaseous substance containing at least 30 grams water per cubic meter and/or wetting the sheets of filter paper with water and subsequently drying the sheets of filter paper. According to tests, the above-described treatment significantly reduces the undesirable variation between results analyzed from sheets of filter paper and impregnated with same biological material for test purposes.

Abstract: An athletic shoe configured to efficiently attenuate plantar loading forces is disclosed. The shoe toebox includes a region of increased stretchability aligned to intercept a big toe of a foot abruptly moving forward within the shoe. The increased stretchability region defines a damping passageway through the toebox material through which a front portion of the big toe can pass externally of an at rest outer peripheral surface of the toebox. The region of increased stretchability may include a cutout portion through the toebox with an associated elastic layer or web that stretches to open a passageway for the big toe into and through the cutout portion. The elastic layer can comprise porous material for ventilating the toebox while keeping foreign matter out, and urges refraction of material forming the cutout portion back toward its initial configuration upon retraction of the big toe from the passageway.

Abstract: The present invention relates to functional footwear of a new concept, which adapts itself to the shape of a foot and gives a soft feeling when walking The footwear includes: an upper foot fixing section (1) for covering and fixing an upper portion of a foot; and a foot supporting section (8) attached to the upper foot fixing section for supporting a lower portion of the foot. The foot supporting section comprises a soft resilient mat (2) which can be deformed according to the shape of the foot. In various embodiments, a temperature control element (TCE) may be housed in the vamp liner of the footwear, and a control unit may be housed in the footwear tongue. In some embodiments, the control unit may include or be coupled to a user interface, which also may be housed in the footwear tongue. In some embodiments, a pocket may be provided in the footwear tongue for receiving a power source configured to power the system, and in various embodiments the pocket also may be used for routing electrical conduits between the various components.

Abstract: A directionally flexible shank for an article of footwear is disclosed, which provides support to the bottom of a user's foot while providing flexibility for foot movements in one or more particular directions. The directionally flexible shank may also support the arch of the foot. The directionally flexible shank may include a plurality of articulatable segments that can easily rotate with respect to each other in a first direction and thereby permit the directionally flexible shank to flex away from the foot, while limiting articulation in an opposite direction. The articulatable segments are connected to each other via hinge structures, which may include living hinges formed of a thermoplastic material. The hinge structures may also be formed from a flexible sheet attached to a bottom portion of the directionally flexible shank. Methods are also disclosed for manufacturing the directionally flexible shank.

Abstract: A hunter safety system includes a plurality of highly visible signs that are deployed outward from a hunting spot. The signs include indicia which alerts others to the presence of a hunter to prevent them from shooting at the hunter and inform them of the location of the hunter. In this manner, others may position themselves on the backside of tree to avoid being inadvertently shot by the hunter who isn't aware of their location. The signs preferably include bright colors to contrast them from the foliage.

The upper receiver liner insert is secured within the aft portion of the upper receiver assembly by engaging screw threads on the liner insert with receiving threads inside the aft portion of the upper receiver and insertion of anchor pins into the aft portion of the upper receiver. The anchor pins impinge the liner insert such that it is prevented from rotating within the upper receiver. The barrel assembly is attached to the liner insert by engaging screw threads on the liner insert with threads within a barrel nut connector sleeve.

The double-chamber magazine firearm includes a receiver, at least one barrel adjacent the receiver, and a double-chamber magazine releasably secured to the receiver. The double-chamber magazine includes a first elongate magazine chamber and a second elongate magazine chamber adjacent to and parallel with the first elongate magazine chamber. The firearm further includes a selector secured adjacent an open end of the first elongate magazine chamber and an open end of the second elongate magazine chamber. The selector is configured to move between a first position such that the selector at least partially obstructs the open end of the second elongate magazine chamber and a second position such that the selector at least partially obstructs the open end of the first elongate magazine chamber.

Abstract: The present invention relates to systems and methods for making and using a firearm that includes an extendable light source that can be selectively moved closer to and farther from a longitudinal axis of a barrel of the firearm. In some cases, the light source includes a laser or a light bulb, such as an LED. By being able to selectively move closer to and farther from the barrel's longitudinal axis, the light source can be adjusted so that it is able to shine past one or more attachments that are placed on a distal end of the firearm. Other implementations are also described.

Abstract: A multicolored artificial bait, where the color of an artificial bait changes in response to the transmission of sunlight and water temperature at a given depth. According to one embodiment, the target fish can be effectively attracted by way of a single color-changing artificial bait; the attractive effect is further enhanced by the fact that the overall color of the artificial bait is changed. In addition, because a single artificial bait can be used without regard to season or depth, user convenience is improved.
