Abstract: A smoke evacuator that draws smoke generated during a medical surgical procedure away from the site at which the smoke is generated. The smoke evacuator includes a pump that draws air into a filter. A sensor internal to the filter monitors the smoke in the air stream drawn through the filter. Normally the pump runs at a low speed, a speed sufficient to draw some air in the filter. When the sensor detects the presence of an appreciable amount of smoke in the air stream the sensor sends a signal indicating the air stream is in this state to the pump controller. The controller then increases the pump speed to result in a like increase in the volume of air drawn through the smoke evacuator. Since the sensor is contained in the filter, a new sensor is installed in the system each time a new filter is installed.

Abstract: A solids transport system for use in a flue gas desulfurization system is disclosed. Flue gas can be recycled from downstream and used as a fluidizing gas for transporting solids between different locations. Exemplary systems include fluidization slide gravity conveyors, fluidization pads in bins, and in hoppers. The flue gas is generally already at an elevated temperature, reducing power consumption needed to heat the fluidizing gas.

Abstract: A method for separating overspray produced during the painting of objects, the overspray is absorbed by an air flow and transported to a separating surface of a separating device over which a separating liquid flows. A large part of the overspray merges with the separating liquid, is transported away by said separating liquid, and is removed from the separating liquid by separation. Separating liquid is fed to the separating surface using a dispensing device, which is arranged so that the total discharge mass flow (GM) of the separating liquid is dependent at least on the viscosity of the separating liquid. Furthermore, separating liquid having a predetermined inlet mass flow (ZM) is fed to the dispensing device, wherein the inlet mass flow (ZM) of the dispensing device is equal to the total mass flow (GM), and the viscosity of the separation liquid during the operation of the separation device is calculated.

Abstract: A processing installation for the processing of bulk material has a vacuum filter insert for degassing of the bulk material. The vacuum filter insert is arranged in a casing of a screw machine downstream of the feed opening thereof and is provided with at least one filter element so that the vacuum filter insert forms a gas-permeable wall portion which defines the at least one casing bore of the screw machine. Seen in a degassing direction, a protective element comprising a plurality of through-openings is arranged upstream of the at least one filter element. The protective element acts as a granule protection for the at least one filter element and prevents granular bulk material from damaging the at least one filter element. As a result, the vacuum filter insert has a longer service life, thus ensuring a long operating time for the processing installation without interruptions.

Abstract: The invention relates to a system of encapsulating a hygroscopic salt tablet of the type used to absorb moisture in closed environments. Said encapsulation consists of seamless cloth, usually “non-woven”, arranged so that it includes folds that minimize the air chamber between the tablet and the covering thereof. Said arrangement allows the tablet to work more effectively than other similar ones by eliminating the resistance that the air causes to the absorption of moisture. Said tablet begins to work when the ambient moisture is greater than 55%-60% and is used inside a plastic device that has slots to absorb the moist air and has a bottom container for deposit of a brine resulting from the process of absorbing moisture.
