  • Publication number: 20160037755
Abstract: An automated system and method for obtaining early detection of biological changes or events by assessing core body temperatures that precede the events within individual animals in a production herd. The system and method may monitor the animals, assess the data acquired with a variation from a diurnally compliant baseline in the selection of or use of data monitored, and provide a timely communication to owners and operators as deemed appropriate. An assessment may establish variations from the baseline, compensate for ambient conditions or identify patterns of variation, that anticipate estrus, ovulation, illness, calving or other biological events throughout the herd population. The assessment may include signal processing techniques that substitute for baseline establishment, or be used in combination with baseline variation assessment.

Abstract: The present invention provides an in vivo platform for identifying and determining therapeutic or prophylactic activity of test compounds in delay-type hypersensitivity (DTH) and other inflammatory or cancerous diseases mediated by activation of IKK-?C46A mutants. The in vivo platform of the present invention is a non-human transgenic mammal, e.g., a mouse model, with a site directed mutagenesis at a cysteine residue replaced by alanine in IKK-? protein kinase. The site directed mutagenesis is introduced by a specially designed targeting vector containing a transversion in exon 3 of the Ikbkb genes encoding the IKK-?. The present invention also provides methods for generating the transgenic mammal and for determining and identifying compounds that can inhibit activation of IKK-?C46A mutants.

Abstract: A confectionery product combines cottage cheese and yogurt blended together into a frozen product having a texture and taste similar to ice cream, but with a higher nutritional value. Fat free cottage cheese can be used to provide a lower-calorie substitute for ice cream. With the addition of a suitable sweetener and flavoring, a wide range of confections are possible. Use of artificial sweetener can further lower the caloric value of the confection.

Abstract: A flavor stabilized hydrated texturized plant protein may be produced by infusing dehydrated texturized plant protein particles with a water solution of one or more flavors and one or more heat denaturable soluble proteins. A binding and thickening water solution, including a heat denaturable soluble protein, a gum, an insoluble food protein, and/or a starch, may be added to the flavor stabilized hydrated texturized plant protein to create a formable mass. Fat may be added to the formable mass to produce a mass of generally moist crumbly pieces, wherein the crumbly pieces are generally surrounded by the binder/thickener. The formable mass and/or one or more portions thereof containing the generally moist crumbly pieces may then be formed into one or more plant-based food products such as, e.g., a patty, a loaf, a ball, lasagna, sausage, pizza topping(s), chili, and/or other food products that normally contain small pieces of meat.
