Abstract: A lure strike indicating assembly for preventing obstruction of rod guides includes an indicator, a filament, and a coupler. The filament is coupled to and extends between the indicator and the coupler. The coupler is configured to slidably couple to a fishing line. A fastener is coupled to the indicator. The fastener is configured to selectively couple to the coupler and the fishing line so that the indicator is fixedly positioned relative to a lure that is coupled to an end of the fishing line. The fastener also is configured to decouple from the coupler and the fishing line in the event of a strike on the lure. The coupler is slidably positionable relative to the lure to prevent the indicator from obstructing a guide on a tip of a fishing rod to which the fishing line is coupled as the fishing line is retracted into a reel.

Abstract: Compositions and methods of use thereof for delivering an insecticide to water-borne insect larvae are provided. Whereas individual cells of the insecticidal bacteria such as Bacillus thuringiensis israelensis (Bti), are effective in killing insect larvae when ingested by same, their use in aqueous environments is restricted by the time that the bacterial cells remain suspended in water and hence available for ingestion by the larvae. To increase the time that the insecticidal bacteria remain in suspension, it has now been found advantageous to mix bacterial suspensions with nanoparticles comprising carbon that attach to the external surface of the cells.

Abstract: Disclosed herein is the nucleotide sequence of the Chromobacterium subtsugae genome. Also provided are the nucleotide sequences of open reading frames in the C subtsugae genome (i.e., C. subtsugae genes). In addition, the amino acid sequences of proteins encoded by the C. subtsugae genome are provided. Nucleic acids, vectors and polypeptides comprising the aforementioned sequences are also provided. Homologues, functional fragments and conservative variants of the aforementioned sequences are also provided. Compositions having pesticidal, bioremedial and plant growth-promoting activities comprising C. subtsugae genes and proteins, and methods for the use of these compositions, are also provided.
