Abstract: A dual function binding machine for making journal notebooks at home includes a hole punching mechanism and a binding mechanism. A punch die includes a plurality of rectangular punch teeth in a graduated configuration to minimize the amount of force required to penetrate through the journal book materials. A guide provides different positions for punching through covers, inner pages and continuous punching of both. This allows the perfect alignment and fit of the outside covers with the inside pages. A spring biased lever operates the punch die in a horizontal direction. The binding mechanism included in the same machine has a vertical outer vise wall that is horizontally movable to compress the binding material to the pages and covers of the journal notebook.

  • Patent number: 5614042
Abstract: The present invention discloses a tape binding device winding a tape piece having an adhesive surface on one side around an electric wire bundle to bundle it. In the device, a pair of arms having a holding surface are lowered while holding the tape piece cut into a predetermined length on the holding surface. As it is lowered, free ends of both arms are lowered to both sides separated by a top portion of the electric wire bundle. At the time of lowering, after winding the tape piece by pressing it around a surface of the electric wire bundle, the free ends of both arms make adhesive surfaces of both ends of the tape piece under the electric wire bundle to adhere each other and are clipped between them, thereby laminating adhesive surfaces each other.

  • Patent number: 5311721
Abstract: A wire winding and tying machine useful in the winding of steel wire strands or the like includes a tie stock dispenser that delivers a pre cut length of tie stock to a platform. A hanking unit picks up the tie stock and delivers it to a position above pre wound strands. The hanking unit includes rockable arms that press the tie stock ends about the wound strands to a position to engage a twister that winds the tie stock about the strands.

  • Patent number: 4561923
Abstract: Tubing typically produced by an extruder is advanced to coiling apparatus and is cut to predetermined lengths. The automated apparatus includes a plurality of spindles arranged at spaced intervals about a turret, which is indexed to position each spindle to: receive, clamp and coil the last cut length of tubing; advance the coiled length of tubing to a taping station, where the spindle so advanced is rotated for application of tape at diametrically opposed locations, and advance the spindle to an ejection location, where the spindle ejects the taped coil of tubing. The taper advances a pressure-sensitive tape strip, strips a protective strip from the tape and applies the tape to the applicator surfaces of a jaw assembly which swing together causing the tape to envelope the coiled tubing and presses the ends of the pressure-sensitive tape strip together to complete the taping function. The jaws of the jaw assembly are then separated, and the jaw assembly is withdrawn from the coiled tubing.

  • Patent number: 3977314
Abstract: A tying device comprising: a stand for mounting thereon an object to be tied with a tape; a slot for feeding the tying tape; a detector, disposed beyond the forward end of the slot, for detecting the end of the tying tape; a bendable arm having a grip mechanism and pivotally provided on the stand substantially in parallel to the slot, the bendable arm being adapted to be swung upward, so that when the end of the tying tape reaches the detector, the detector produces a signal to actuate the grip mechanism to grip the end of the tying tape and actuate the bendable arm to swing upward so as to bring the end of the tying tape over the object to be tied to the underside of the object and overlap the end on a portion of the tying tape which has been fed thereto.
