  • Patent number: 7704351
Abstract: A processing device and method applying the same for processing a coated or uncoated fibrous web is provided. The device comprises a belt configured to extend around a guiding element, at least one counter-element being disposed outside said belt to provide a contact area with the belt, such that the belt and the counter-element establish therebetween a web processing zone for passing a web to be processed therethrough. The processing zone length is defined by the disposition of the belt's guiding element and/or by the configuration of the counter-elements. The contact pressure applied to a web in the processing zone is within the range of between about 0.01 MPa and about 200 MPa.

  • Patent number: 7340998
Abstract: A multi-roll calender (1) has one or several sets of rolls (2) attached to a frame (7) so that each set of rolls has at least three rolls. At least the first roll (3; 31) and the last roll (3; 32) have casings which can be moved toward the intermediate rolls (4). The first roll (3; 31) and the last roll (3; 32) are fixedly attached, at least one of the intermediate rolls (4) in the set of rolls is fixedly attached, and the other intermediate rolls are provided with lightening elements for lightening the auxiliary means related to the intermediate rolls. The roll nips (N) in the set of rolls (2) are closed by moving the first roll towards the intermediate rolls (4), and the roll nips between the last roll and the fixed intermediate roll included, are closed by moving the last roll towards the intermediate rolls (4).

  • Patent number: 7325490
Abstract: A relief cylinder structure for guiding a roll in a multinip calender has a frame and an arm that is arranged to move linearly in relation to the frame. A quick-opening cylinder is placed inside the arm. In a fault situation, the relief cylinder causes the cylinder rolls to move rapidly further away from each other. An auxiliary coupling (8) opens in a fault situation, wherein the pressure produced in the quick-opening cylinder (6) is discharged to a hydraulic system in a substantially non-pressurized state. The pressure of the quick-opening cylinder (6) is thus reduced below the pressure of the main cylinder (4), wherein the auxiliary piston (7) moves towards the end of the arm (3). Because the volume of the main cylinder (4) grows in accordance with the cylindrical space formed inside the arm (3), the volume restricted by the frame (2) of the relief cylinder (1) is reduced.

  • Patent number: 7311039
Abstract: Vibration is prevented in a multi-nip calender (1) or an array of multi-nip calendars. Each calender has a lower roll (3; 40), an upper roll (3; 30) and two or more intermediate rolls. A fiber web is conveyed through the closed roll nips of the calenders. The intermediate rolls (3) have load-relieving apparatus and the upper roll (3; 30) and the lower roll (3; 40) have loading apparatus, while loading apparatus are connected to the lower roll (3; 40) and/or the upper roll (3; 30) for loading these rolls from the outside in a direction parallel with the calender plane. The running parameters (9) influencing the calendering impulse of one or more selected roll nips (N) are intermittently or continuously changed, such that the overall calendering impulse (9) of the calender or calender array and/or the quality variables (21) of the fiber web remain substantially constant and/or within predetermined limits.

  • Patent number: 7134387
Abstract: A refrigerant gas is collected and a compressor is removed from a discarded refrigerator, a heat-insulating housing including a heat insulator is cut/processed and separated into a plurality of pieces, and the pieces are compressed/processed by compression rollers opposing each other so as to collect a gas contained in the heat insulator. In accordance with this method, substantially no gas contained in the heat insulator is diffused at the time of cutting the heat-insulating housing, and the gas can be collected at a high concentration because it is collected by being allowed to leak out at the time of compressing. Furthermore, by using the compression rollers, closed-cells in the heat insulator can be crushed easily, thereby collecting the gas completely and reliably. Thus, it is possible to collect a foaming gas contained in the heat insulator efficiently and disassemble a refrigerator at low cost without increasing the size of equipment and an installation space.

  • Patent number: 6336398
Abstract: The present invention relates to a calendar for treating a material web. In an exemplary embodiment, first and second roll stacks have first and second deflection adjustment rolls on an end thereof, respectively. Each of the first and second deflection adjustment rolls has a sleeve lift, and a sleeve supported by a deflection adjustment device on a fixed bracket. The first and second deflection adjustment rolls are adjacent to each other to define an additional nip therebetween that can be at least partially closed by the sleeve lift. An effective direction of the deflection adjustment device of the first deflection adjustment roll alternatively points toward the first roll stack and the second deflection adjustment roll, and an effective direction of the deflection adjustment device of the second deflection adjustment roll alternatively points toward the second roll stack and the first deflection adjustment roll.

  • Patent number: 5034781
Abstract: In a copying machine inclucing paired register rollers which are driven after a front end of a paper supplied from a paper supply cassette comes in contact with the paired register rollers and is aligned and a copying unit for copying a document image on the paper fed by the paired register rollers, the paired register rollers are mounted on a frame via self-aligning bearings, two paper front detecting sensors are disposed on both sides of the center of a feeding path between the paired register rollers and the copying unit, the direction and angle of tilt of the paper held by the paired register rollers with respect to the feeding direction of the paper are detected based on a difference between timings at which the two sensors are turned on, and the paired register rollers are tilted in a direction opposite to the detected direction by the detected angle, thus correcting the tilt of the paper.

  • Patent number: 3943031
Abstract: The invention is a simplified roller-type apparatus for laminating articles in sheet form with transparent plastic laminating film. It comprises a heating station for heating the work and a pair of pressure rolls for bonding the film to one or both sides of each article. The heating station comprises a pair of vertically opposed flat plates that are separable to permit the work to be inserted between them, and means for heating the plates so that they act as sources of heat for activating the adhesive layer of the laminating film. In the preferred embodiment, the lower plate is fixed and the upper plate is mounted for vertical movement relative to the lower plate. The two plates also act as guides for directing the heated work into the nip formed by the pressure rolls.
