Abstract: A bump leveling method and a bump leveling apparatus in which the leveled height of bumps can be made constant and meet the change in thickness of an IC chip. A pressing force under which one bump is deformed to a prescribed height is measured. Thus, the pressing force under which a plurality of bumps can be deformed and leveled can be set. A load cell detects that a prescribed pressing force is exerted on the bumps and this pressing force is maintained, so that the plurality of bumps can be leveled up to the same prescribed height.

Abstract: A paper sample press has a drawer slidably mounted on a base. A plurality of generally vertical guide posts are mounted on the base on opposed sides of the drawer. The drawer has a lower platen mounted thereon for supporting a stack of paper samples. The drawer is slidable on the base from a retracted position between the guide posts to an extended position wherein the lower platen is extended out from between the guide posts, and returnably slidable on the base from the extended position to the retracted position. A vertically selectively actuable press cover is vertically mounted on a piston above the lower platen when the drawer is in the retracted position. The piston is selectively actuable so as to selectively lower and elevate the press cover between a raised position and a lowered paper sample engaging position.

Abstract: The invention relates to processes and devices for automatically depositing and pressing continuous tows in containers moved to and fro on a traversing device, wherein the start of the tow is transferred via a chute to a catch box on the container and is retained there, the container is weighed during each traversing movement because of the extension of a weighing platform and, when the nominal weight is reached, the fed tow is held and severed in a cutting and fixing device, the tow ends obtained are fixed and marked, and the tow end belonging to the deposited material and the start of the tow are introduced into the full container from the catch box.

  • Patent number: 4519309
Abstract: For the exchange of tools in a press, the tools, including their associated gripper rail sections, are moved out of the press on a sliding table having a gripper rail support. To ensure that the gripper rails do not block access to the tool, the gripper rail support is adjustable in height. This permits lowering of the gripper rails sections to the extent that access to the tool is unimpeded.

  • Patent number: 4492156
Abstract: An apparatus for compacting refuse in a drum or in a bag, or of drums themselves, is provided with a frame mounted above a platform. The platform provides a base supporting a cylindrical jacket which encloses the media to be compacted. The jacket is mounted upon a movable platform, which is positioned under a compaction disk connected to a hydraulic ram during the compacting operation and removed from under the compaction disk, when the refuse is loaded into the jacket or removed from it. The platform slides from the operating zone eliminating hazardous conditions for an operator in case if the compaction disk accidentally descends during a non-operation. The jacket can be opened for loading of refuse within its walls and can be closed prior to positioning of the jacket under the compaction disk.

  • Patent number: 4463669
Abstract: A system for segregating and baling textile wastes supplied from a plurality of separate sources embodies a plurality of filling stations which receive the wastes from the separate sources. An upwardly opening portable waste receiving bin is mounted within each filling station with the lower end of each bin carrying a detachable bottom platen. A transfer mechanism moves each bin selectively, back and forth between its filling station and a compression station where the wastes are compressed within the bin. Actuator units in the compression station disconnect the bin from its platen and raise the bin to an upper position about a movable ram to thus expose the bale for final bale out.

  • Patent number: 4450764
Abstract: A frame forms a container having four vertical sides and a flat bottom plate. A hydraulically raised and lowered gate forms one of the sides. Wet hides are stacked on a pallet commonly used with a forklift. The gate is raised, and the loaded pallet placed on the bottom plate. The gate is lowered, and fillers are extended through side openings in the pallet into voids between the pallet top and bottom. A platen above the hides is hydraulically pressed downward within the container to compress the hides. A selected pressure on the hides is maintained for a desired compression period. The fillers within the voids limit deflections of the pallet top during compression of the hides, and consequently prevent damage to the pallet. The fillers are withdrawn, the gate raised, and the loaded pallet removed. The compressed, dry, cohesive hide bundles have a flat top and flat, vertical sides and are more efficiently packed for shipping.

  • Patent number: 4433620
Abstract: A bolster travels, with a first set of wheels propelled by a first pneumatic motor, along a first pair of rails into and out of a press and, with a second set of wheels propelled by a second pneumatic motor, along a second pair of rails laid at right angles with the first rail pair. The first set of wheels are mounted to the bolster body via hydraulic lift jacks for up-and-down movement into and out of engagement with the rails. The first and second pneumatic motors communicate with a source of air under pressure via first and second pilot-operated selector valves respectively. The lift jacks communicate with a hydraulic pump, driven from the pressurized air source, via a third pilot-operated selector valve. For pilot-operating the first, second and third selector valves there are provided manual control valves and sensors, the latter being actuated automatically to produce pneumatic signals representative of various working conditions of the bolster.

  • Patent number: 4412486
Abstract: A first platen is associated with lift means for raising it into pressing engagement with a second platen. The second platen is movable on a support frame for the press between an advanced pressing position in overlapping relation with the first platen and a retracted position for loading and unloading articles onto the first platen. The second platen has wheeled support on an upper portion of the press frame to provide free interior space for the mounting of press operating and control elements. The press has a top opening for loading articles onto the first platen and for removing such articles. A hood is employed having a front opening for receiving and concealing the second platen in its retracted position. This hood has adjustable support on the press frame whereby it can be secured in a rearward position for accommodating retracted movement of the second platen or for securing it in a forward position for compacting the press for shipment.

  • Patent number: 4348252
Abstract: A single unit moves into and out of a press to essentially simultaneously charge the press with the workpiece to be processed and discharge another workpiece which has been processed. The device is particularly suitable for preparing laminates in which the workpiece to be processed comprises a stack of alternating sheets of solid material and bonding material. This workpiece is referred to as a laminating pack. A table on a transfer car holds the unprocessed laminating pack. This same transfer car also has on its lower side a plurality of suction devices for grippingly engaging a processed laminate, i.e., a laminate that has been treated in the heat press. The transfer car holding the unprocessed laminating pack advances into an open press. In the press, the laminating pack is transported onto holding gibs, and the processed laminate in the press is taken up by the suction means on the bottom side of the transfer car.
